Cool. I always just go for the ear test method. If it sounds like it "gargling rocks" as you said; I know I need to swap two leads. But, nothing wrong with being more technical about it. A pressure gauge will tell you pretty quickly if the compressor is pumping or not, too.
Hey, thanks. I appreciate that. Seems like this series of videos that I did on the sc480 went over pretty good. I think a lot of guys probably bought that meter because of the videos. And that's exactly what I try to achieve when making the videos. For them to be helpful enough that a guy can comfortably decide to lay down a few hundred dollars on an instrument and not regret his purchase . I'm still enjoying the meter. It's in my bag right now. Thanks for watching.. and Merry Christmas 🎅🎄🎁✝️ 😎👍
That seems like a nice meter. I had the SC440, but it got wet one too many times, and was giving some weird readings on the amps. It was out of warranty, finally took my frustration out on the meter one day. Just purchased an HS36 meter from FP, love the meter but finding out the clamp meters are more convenient. Looking to purchase another clamp meter again. Will use the HS36 for a backup/second meter for jobs.
Yeah Brian, the sc440 would have been the perfect meter if FP wouldn't have left off the Max/Min setting. Don't know why the heck they did that. But I really like the Back-light staying on for 5 min. on the sc480. Thanks for your feedback 👍
Does the Fieldpiece SC480 have the same non-contact voltage "prober" as the Amprobe ACD-14 PRO has? In theAmprobe ACD-14 PROvideo, you showed how the "prober" was sort of a "must have" for finding low-voltage shorts. I'd have to agree -- that looks like something that could drive you crazy. Does the SC480 have this feature? I see NCV on the Fieldpiece dial, so I'll assume yes. Using that feature is something I could sure use some practice on.
Wow what a nice little meter. I even heard it will be compatible with MQ. I should of waited on the redfish meter. Never used a fieldpiece meter yet but thinking my next one will be FP. Looks like the bees are in quarantine. They all decided to move in to ether lol
Yeah it was great until it flew off the top of my van a couple of weeks ago. Stupidest thing I've ever done in my 20-year career. I would still recommend it. Or if you wanted to save a little money and the wireless capability, the watts, and three-phase function isn't really that important to you, I would go with the SC 440. Thanks for watching 😎👍
@Shannon Knight HVAC Thats too bad, I'll keep an eye for it though 😄. I do a bit of everything, Vrf/roof tops, light refrig, more exposure to chillers. I think the sc480 is the way but hear some good some bad about the meters. Good to here it treated you good!
How is the wireless feature working I seen a video that stated when wireless feature is applied it will kick off the apps when reading amperage. (He said it would usually add an additional 2 amps)
This one's pretty solid. Extra $50 for the SC680 will get you the swivel head clamp, lighted dial around the selector switch, "dual" temperature, test lead storage on the back, AC & DC amps through the clamp, Hz & duty cycle through the test leads. But of course it is a much larger meter also. Thanks for watching buddy 👍 I wish you the best of luck quitting smoking. I have two friends that did it and they said it was the best thing they ever did. Neither of them have smoked in over 10 years. #BeaQuitter 💪
@@sknight0391 Wow the SC680 sounds like pretty much the ultimate meter. Dual temp and AC/DC on the clamp meter are pretty strong selling points in my book. Makes me wish I'd done my homework instead of buying the accessory heads for those functions... Oh well
Yeah, Johnstone's has a really good deal on both the sc480 & sc680. The sale will probably be continuing through the month of June. Thanks for watching 👍
Thanks for watching the video. I can't comment on anything related to measure quick. I don't use it and I could honestly care less about it. I know Bergman said he was working on it. But then he also recommended his crappy Supco meter to use with measure quick. And I've never seen a video of anyone saying that they like that meter. When I use a meter, I just want it to get the job done and the Fieldpiece sc480 will do it. There's not another meter on the market that can do what it can do. 😎👍
Thanks, I’ve had my sc640 for a few years but the new company doesn’t want my tools in the truck. I’ve seen HVACR use his field piece probes and MQ but I wasn’t sure if the sc480 worked as well. Might just use job link anyway for reporting. Thanks again for the quick response.
@@sirxjacquees now I can comment on Job Link. it's very easy to connect the meter to the job link app. It even recognizes the serial number of the individual meter. the connection is instant when you turn the meter on. The screen is laid out nicely and it updates very quickly. has the amps and volts on the meter change you see it instantly on the screen. It also has real-time bar graphing. The distance is quite good and it has no trouble going through blower doors or walls. And you should get a 30-day free trial, to use for the more advanced features on the job link app, when you buy the meter. But I didn't even use mine for that.
Thanks a lot! I'm looking to possibly get one of these, so it's awesome to see it being used in a real world situation.
Thanks for watching Steve-O 👍
I'll be doing a few more videos on it also. Keep an 👀 out for those.

Shannon, what a great explanation of it.👍

Shannon you are the man! I have had my eye on this bad jasper since it came out! Thank you for explaining the 3 phase feature
Thanks for watching buddy. Keep your eye out for some more videos to come.

Nice Video Shannon! Always look forward to your videos. Looked like you were working on a Lennox HP to me.
You are correct sir. Thanks for watching 👍
Bought it- thanks man- that 3 phase function is bomb- does all that I need- super pumped
Would like to see the watts feature of the meter. Keep the awesome videos coming.
That videos actually coming next Mike. Thanks for watching 👍
I just ordered the 680 from tru tech tools. I can’t wait to use it.
Cool man, hope you enjoy using it.
Thanks for watching 👍
Good vid Shannon ... Love Fieldpiece products ...
Thanks for watching Eddy 👍
Great vid. I have the sc680 and love it. Can’t wait to see more vids. Subscribed
Thanks for the feedback Brian 👍
Its the guy from HVACtalk! How has the sc480 been since this was posted? Has it held up? Still recommend?

Man it's been along time since I heard Bad Mama Jama..😂😂😂👍great video.
I know you are but what am I???
#BadMamaJama 😁👍
Oh here we go thanks lol i was looking for a video of the phase test
Thanks for watching 👍
How is the wireless feature working I seen a video that stated when wireless feature is applied it will kick off the apps when reading amperage.
(He said it would usually add an additional 2 amps)
The 480 does not have that issue.
Very cool. Thanks for the video.
👍
How do you know what is L1. Don't see it at the contactor? Maybe on motor wire ?
Yeah, its displayed on the contactor. One side has L1/L2/L3 & the other side has T1/T2/T3 . Thanks for watching 😎👍
Great video Shannon, I want a new meter buy haven’t made my mind up yet

Thanks for watching T.P. 👍
The SC460 is on sale now for $189. Might be getting it real soon .
Good video! Thanks!
Didnt know units could run backwards. What does that mean? Can you check reverse with regular meter
That's only with 3-phase power. 2 legs of the 3 are are reversed and need to be switched so the motors will run in the forward direction.
Nice 👍🏻
A year later and it's still in my bag right now. Great meter 😎👍
Thanks for watching Fernando.
Johnstone supply has the sc680 on sale for 259$ till July I was told
Yeah, Johnstone's has a really good deal on both the sc480 & sc680. The sale will probably be continuing through the month of June.
Thanks for watching 👍
Was planning to buy this meter, haven’t found anything videos on how well this meter works with Measure Quick, have you tried to link it on MQ?

GOOD INFO
Glad you enjoyed the video. Thanks for watching R.G.
May your three phase always be in the proper rotation. 😎👍
Thank you for showing
Thank you for watching 😎👍
Thank you
Thanks for watching. Hope you enjoyed the content. And by the way.... I'm still loving this meter. It's in my bag right now. 😎👍
Thanks man! 👍
Thanks for watching Miracle man 👍
@@sknight0391 watch you always man! Keep em coming 👍👍
What's the L1-L3 for? Since L1-L2 is to check rotation.
One for each phase of power. 3-phase rotation.
Why is it showing 5.6v when its not connected to anything? That's worrying 😑
Great vid tnx
Thanks for watching 😎👍
That is going to be my next meter 👌🏼🤞🏻🤞🏻
Should have shown L1 to L3(asL2) then L1 to L3(asL2) to see the display as 321. Just TOL.
I need it.
Then get it.
Thanks 🤟😎
You're welcome, thanks for watching. 😎👍
