Ben Harper, Dhani Harrison and Joseph Arthur are Fistful of Mercy, who perform the song also called "Fistful of Mercy" live in the KEXP studio. Recorded 8/26/10.
I can't get enough of this song...really beautiful! I heard it on sirius/xm radio station The Spectrum during their airing of the West Memphis 3 benefit concert. Really great band made up of a nice collaboration of talents.
Ahhh I love this song almost more than life itself, and I've also been wondering about the whole song/band/album title situation so this is absolute gold.
@GregBruceScott, her name is Jessy Greene. She's not in the band officially but is touring with them. She also plays with Foo Fighters, Old 97's and others.
this was one of the most beautiful songs at the Voices for Justice/West Memphis Three concert in Little Rock. Even overshadowed Eddie Vedder and Patti Smith!
echt irre, dass ben harper mal wieder ein instumentales Projekt startet, das hab ich sooooo vermisst. oh god I missed Ben Harper starting a new instrumental Project, awesome!!!!
@GregBruceScott The violinist is called Jesse Greene. Maybe someone already mentioned it to you. I didnt see any reaction to your question, so I rose to the occasion and wanted to tell you. Peace!
@kitty9tales, we only point that out because you're calling an entire country stupid, which is, frankly, quite stupid. And it's "too", not "to". Just sayin'.
Greg, because this is just one set out of a full live studio show... So she gets recognized in another set on another one of the videos posted by the same person... Watch them all first.
Too bad the discussion is about a text on a t-shirt and someone's spelling. Just listen to this great music. Maybe people should listen and talk with their eyes closed, so they're not distracted by looks and appearances. John Lennon once sang: Living is easy with eyes closed, misunderstanding's all you see.
@kitty9tales If you would actually watch the other videos and not just this one... You would hear them talk about her shirt and that it says "play more, think less" for MUSIC...
Am I the only one who doesn't dig this song? It's a bit cheesy, the musicianship isn't bad but it's not GREAT, it's more along the lines of a campfire jam than a group of amazing artists making amazing things.
@kexpradio yep. the k didn't get hit hard enough. it was typed. others have pointed it out. hey, if people want to go through life not thinking then let them be dumb. I deal with it way to much and am through helping them out.
@11thhourreprieve It's not my comphrehension. It's your use of words. Thinking more does not make one see hidden words on a t shirt. (This is an example of what I'm talking about, People!)
I absolutely adore these guys. I really wish that they would record more!
The spirit of George lives on!
great tune. i like that it sounds like they really worked at the songs and didn't just throw something together. unique harmonies.

The last verse may be simple and obvious, but sometimes we forget that we are rulers of our own lives.
Btw. violin is amazing!

Thanks for identifying the violinist. I was wondering why she wasn't listed. She adds a great deal. Although a cello might be better!

Her CD "A Demon & Her Lovers" is excellent.
@kexpradio she reminds me of Scarlet Rivera

@kitty9tales it's a shirt. calm down.
A chip off the old block!
@GregBruceScott Jessy Greene
@BabyPangea Not a bad thought. I'm around too many people that don't or can't think and seem proud of it
lol it kinda looks like george harrison, eric clapton, and robert johnson. but great song
historical
Loved that Dhani wore a thenewno2 shirt. but the fiddle player's shirt beconing us to think less? America is stupid enough as it is

@11thhourreprieve Your comment about thinking more and seeing does not make any sense. Maybe you need to think more.
Yeah… I cannot help but think that the violinist is the only one who deserves appraise… C'mon Ben Harper! You used to do much better stuff than this!!
