In the fall of 2021, I had the pleasure of experiencing the wonders of one of the biggest conventions in the world, Expo 2020 in Dubai! Join me as I try Indian food and tour Expo 2020 Dubai and take you along for the ride!
Expo 2020 Dubai is the largest gathering in the world that celebrates art, culture, cuisine, entertainment, and technology. It runs through March 31, 2022!
👕 DAVID’S BEEN HERE MERCH: teespring.com/...
My day began with a ride to the expo with my friends at Blacklane, a luxury chauffeur service that started in Berlin. They’re available in several cities around the world, including Dubai. They can either drop you off at your destination or wait for you!
I couldn’t wait to explore the expo. Along the way, we passed Dubai Marina on our way through the city. My driver was super friendly!
Inside the massive expo space, I walked to the Opportunity District and finally made it to Kutir, a modern and elegant Pan Indian restaurant by Rohit Ghai, a Michelin star chef! It’s located on the first floor of the Vietnam Pavilion.
First, I had one of their unique signature cocktails. They smoked it under a glass dome with cinnamon, oranges, and other spices. It almost smelled like incense!
In the kitchen, I watched them make lamb shank, chicken biryani, naan, chicken tikka, parottas, sweet basil paste with tandoori prawns, and malpua with rabri and berries.
First was the soft and juicy softshell crab. It’s so soft, you can eat the whole thing! It also came with chickpeas and curry leaves!
The prawns were massive and meaty, and the puree with it was out of this world! The chicken tikka masala had a perfect spice level. I loved the way the ginger and Kashmiri chilies enhanced the flavor. Adding the naan made it perfect!
The chicken dum biryani was infused with so much flavor. It came with with dhungaar raita but was moist on its own. The onions and the marinade on the chicken were excellent!
The dhungaar raita added a creaminess and smokiness and was the best raita I’ve ever had! Adding the chicken tikka masala gravy was unreal!
The lamb shank was massive, slow-cooked, and fall-apart tender. The gravy was rich, and the bone contained some delicious marrow! It also came with purple potatoes and was phenomenal!
Finally were the desserts: the malpua rabri and Trio of Kulfi. The trio contained rose, saffron, and pistachio kulfi. I loved the rose! I also loved the flaky, pancake-like malpua rabri. After finishing with some masala chai, I headed back out!
Chef Garcia and I saw a parade and headed toward the main dome in the center of the expo to Jubilee, a bar and restaurant with a jungle-like feel!
The views of the Mobility and Opportunity areas were beautiful! I got a smoky Shanghai cocktail, which contained egg yolk, whiskey, and lemon. Then, we went to explore the pavilions!
In the India pavilion, there were planets overhead and lots of greenery, which made it look like a jungle. Upstairs were huge video screens of cities, fireworks displays, candles, Bollywood dancing, and more!
I also saw displays about the economic and transportation aspects of India, as well as displays showing Jaipur, Amritsar, Varanasi, and more! Then, I headed to Spain and then Romania, where they were playing music. I tried some of their silver and gold water, which comes from a spring in a mine.
Next was Venezuela, where I saw displays about Simon Bolivar, who is known as El Liberador, and then Hungary, which had a huge line. There was another Christmas parade and some street food trucks.
The Russian pavilion was huge and colorful. On the third floor were cool displays of a huge brain and spinal column, and fun screens and light shows! Then, I headed to a store to buy some souvenirs to end my experience!

Beautiful food presentation!
I can confirm from England West Yorkshire mate we call it Chicken Tikka Masala and not CTM that is most definite an American thing pal
He's too adamant to understand that..... I've traveled UK at every corners, never seen anyone calling any dish as CTM.
Fooling himself and the public.
@@vk-s it’s very important that any country you choose to travel to learn about the culture the etiquette the dos and donts. As many people watching his videos have never perhaps travelled before or have gone to the countries that he has visited or eating the cuisine from those countries. I am from the UK Afro-Caribbean British and I’ve never heard the chicken tikka masala being called CTM either 🤷🏽♀️.
@@niyah488 it's America the country of freedom the land of opportunity the country that invades conquers and divides the country that thinks it rules over all.. they know best 😆 it's ctm..
@@waqzh6128 warm greetings you are absolutely right! 😀 I will be calling family and friends all over the UK letting them know that it’s not called chicken tikka masala but it is called CTM the national dish of the UK. Stay safe & well.
That lamb shank looked out of this world good!
I have never seen anybody mush biriyani that way🥺

I just watched ur episode. Man I wish u would have hit the german building. That place in Dubai looked so awesome thanks for sharing that experience. Especially the Indian restaurant and the Russian building so beautiful and amazing. Thanks sgain.
Tomorrow is my day at the Expo. Thanks for the video, David
My bhagwan. This guy alone has promoted 10% of indian food
Fun fact. Most Indians in a Michelin star restaurant would be ashamed of their own culture of eating with hands while this man's bossing it all the way.
I need to eat something 🤤🤤🤤
Even in Dubai, he eats Indian food lol
I'm hungry please 💜
Omg I was literally drooling when you were eating the shrimp and crab! If you have that on your menu I’m flying from TX to eat it!!! That cocktail too! Another great video. 😊
You are my favorite! Thank you for all your kindness! In texas we eat bbq!!!
@@Davidsbeenhere sounds like a plan!!! 😊
Cannot agree with David on the Tandoor oven part. Tandoor is generally North Indian. Authentic East/ North East/ South Indian restaurants don't usually have Tandoor ovens in India.
Truly food lover
Why expo 2020 isn't 2022????
This video is so good😍
this is soooooo good!!
amazing video bro!
David you should develop a course in Indian cuisine. I would attend.
Mr. David. Iam very happy that you are not wasting food
Grandpa from Cluj, Parents born in Venezuela, Dad is Hungarian. Wow your family literally traveled all over the world from Europe to the Americas 😅😅.

What a jolly guy you are, i am following you...
brilliant so intresting blog thanks david we appreciate it you love from pakistan
David thanks for your videos 👍
I'm sorry but if I were in a restaurant of that price and quality and I saw someone pick up a lamb shank and eat it like a caveman, I would be surprised, appalled and a bit disgusted. No - you are not pretty good at eating with your hands. I doubt any Indians going to that restaurant would use their hands, but if they did, it would be small and dainty bites, savouring each bite and trying to mess up their hands and play with their food as little as possible. I agree 100% with the comments of notluvulongtime8472 below. Also, your comment about "if an Indian restaurant doesn't have a tandoor, it's not an Indian restaurant" makes me wonder if you learned anything about Indian food after travelling so extensively.
I totally enjoyed that. Thanks for sharing. I guess I will never experience it
Dubai = Simcity Artifical life...
Wish you spent more time fully exploring. Everything seemed so rushed. Would have loved to see more content

You should definitely try the malpua in india the taste which you will get here you can't get anywhere else
wow i need to go to the EXPO!!!
Drooling, just watching you eat.
The food looks awesome, but I wouldn't say the Masala is gravy.Actual gravy has some type of flour added to the mixture.
"Congratulations To Everyone who comes in every single second"🌺
