I love that you brought up them having a family "as cover to evil lives they lead." This is SOOOOO true. The psychopath I dealt with did this. Her marriage, I came to find out, was very toxic and unhealthy. She abused other family members on the regular. They'll use anything they can to build up a mask for society to view.

I’m a supervisor and I’ve dealt with them as employees who work for me and as fellow supervisors. The fellow supervisor type will do all they can to show you up and make you look incompetent. They can’t stand change and often are very lazy and they attack fellow employees and supervisors as a way to deflect the fact that they don’t do anything. It’s like a war within the company. We recently had one die and our company is so much happier without this HR manager who divided the company while not doing her job. She was so completely occupied with waging war against her fellow employees that she gave all of our W2’s away in an email spoof. She flat out didn’t do her job and she got away with it because ownership trusted her because she knew how to play them. Ownership itself is needy so she knew how to complement them and portray herself as a protector of the company, protecting the company from all the terrible people that had worked there for years. She recognized early how to manipulate them and she was very successful. Narc employees need to be complemented constantly and need lots of attention, constantly showing off what they’ve done and wanting to hear how great they are and wanting special treatment and elevated status. They feel that the rules that apply to everyone shouldn’t apply to them because they are extra special. Sometimes I have to reject work done by these types of employees, just doing my job and then they become explosive, grown men behaving like 2 year olds. I come to dread dealing with any negative interactions. They’ll also do things like praise me to my face while secretly trying to destroy me by saying terrible things about me to other employees. I’m pretty immune and don’t need their praise so I truly don’t give a shit.

One thing I learned from these types of situation that never go to anyone asking for help when you really need that. The moment people realize that you're in serious trouble they'll do everything to make the situation worse. Instead of solving your problem they'll become those inseparable soulmates of the narcissist. And trust me that doesn't feel good!!!

I recognized all the signs months ago with narcissist woman co-worker. There was 3 other people on this team to do production work in a warehouse. I'm a 50 yr old woman . they are 20 yr olds , young , naive who fell for her love bombing techniques . I didn't fall for it . she played the other people against me. Tried to get me fired. I'm a cristian the others are not. I think the wolf in sheep's clothing is all they are . demons trying to influence everyone. She tried saying that I'm racist because of something I said. I know I am not and will not be convinced otherwise. Also only spoke to cell leader for a month. Said I wasn't doing my job , which I know is lies , just pissed because I wouldn't kiss her ass like everyone else. Asked to move to another area. Been in other area for a week -Going good. Should I tell management why I wanted to move or tell people in other department they are being manipulated. Don't feel like people here listen, management and other old co-workers.🙏💝

Thanks for sharing the information! I am doing some research on Narcissism and Psychopathy at work place and found this video very helpful. Everyone should understand what Narcissism is and what are the Redflags as mentioned in the video. Proactively, organizations should make it as part of training in workplaces to educate people what is acceptable and what is not which helps to combat toxicity in the workplace.I am just summarising what you have told in the video..Thanks a lot🙏🙏🙏
    • They use charm on others and praise them initially.
    • Have got allies who re-victimize the victim.
    • Pushy and demanding.
    • Use divide and rule policy to manage team i.e., Isolate the victim and then attack.
    • Self-absorbed - Can’t stand others opinions.
They either attack upfront or do the work on back to ensure the opinion giver shuts his mouth for ever.
    • Emotionally closed /who can’t feel for others in general (don’t confuse selective empathy here).
    • Pathological liar - Use lies, fake stories to ruin a victim’s career.
    • They don’t like to be told that they are wrong.
    • Great actors - use acts of service as a manipulation tool.
    • Self-Boasting
    • Use their family as guard/cover
    • They segregate the people based on the filter - 1. Weak -Those who can be used as “Narcissistic supply” through ruining the target/victim’s career. And 2. Strong- Those that help them to advance their career.
    • Always Craves Control - always in look for power, connections & knowledge that they don’t possess. Before selecting the target, they test them through their act of kindness. Only groom those people who can be controlled easily (Sycophants)
    • Someone who recognizes narcissist’s motives will ultimately become the prime target and following things happen
o Devaluation of target - through circulation of jokes on victim’s back
o Smear Campaign - false accusation, spreading of lies and gossips
o Division of teams - deliberate isolation
o Finally victim will feel his story of what’s going on is quite unbelievable.
    • They don’t like authority/ management people.
Since they don’t like authority, they don’t trust management people and always flout Company policies and rules.
    • They are very good at making friends easily.
    • Complain about everything.
    • Use emotions to manipulate - fake empathy & friendships.
    • Recruit people to be against the target.
    • Always seek validation/admiration. (Seeking periodic feedback is different from seeking validation/admiration.)
    • They use people and discard them. (They literally hunt for people who can be used for their benefits and then discard them once the benefits stops. Their mind-set operates profit/loss, cost/benefit framework)
    • If someone catches their lie, immediately they declare war and destroy them.
    • Name calling - Use verbal abuse as weapon. It usually starts off as a harmless jokes and escalates into bullying and smear campaign

Unfortunately it sounds to me like I might be dealing with a narcissist boss. She suddenly is displaying to me many of these red flags. At first we got along well, but as soon as I politely asked for more challenging assignments things began to change. Today was the first time however that I became subjected to what I imagine must have been, or to be, the real person who she is. It's disturbing to me. I was verbally abused today, gaslighted very, very badly, and bullied. It was awful, and I'm blown away. high EQ people talk about perspectives - that they have a different perspective than someone else, they don't view opinions/ideas on a binary spectrum (good, bad)

I'm the "strong one" that our narcissist at-work sees as the enemy, and the object of Flying Monkey surveillance and aggravation. Our workplace isn't big-enough to have an HR department, and our general manager is a conflict-averse (and people-pleasing) victim of childhood abuse (by a narcissistic mother?), and won't deal with the guy I've mentioned to him (my immediate supervisor). I've gotten bored of the narcissist's mind-games and harassment, so I've given notice, effective at year-end, but I'd like to do something in the next month to reduce the harm done against new targets...

@@anitaknight3915 I went to the GM and confronted him about how badly the guy's abuse had been handled. I made the GM deal with the problem, because I said, if I quit, the narcissist would just find others to abuse. Our GM eventually spoke to the guy, and he left me alone for a couple of weeks, and when he tried to play the games again, I called him out in front of people, to embarrass him, and then threatened to go to the GM again.
He left me alone for a while, but eventually got some of his other victims on-side, and turned them into flying monkeys. He's since toned-down the games, but he usually just leaves me alone, because he knows I don't fear, respect, or like him, and never will.
