  • Special occasions call for special tumblers.
Over the past few months, we have been working hard to fill our studio with two special tumblers to raise funds for our Iceland Expedition. We wanted these glazes to capture the volatility, beauty and drama of falling snow interacting with the sea and the wind in inclement climes.
Above is a brief video showing the process of making and glazing our Sjór tumblers.

hey, awesome piece and love the way you made the mold. Im having a lot of warping on my hollow slipcast cups any tips on keeping them from warping (usually in the glaze firing not so much bisque)

Thanks for the kind words. We have had big issues with distortion from slip casting over the years. The way that we attempt to mitigate this is to let the piece dry in the mould over night before de-moulding. And once removed it from the mould, we use a plastic cone (like a funnel with no spout) and twist it inside each piece to re-shape it back into a circle and then we place let it dry completely before trimming. Un-even drying can also increase the chance of warpage. Warpage rarely shows in the bisque state. Hope this helps
