I feel like Slipknot’s music has definitely improved since the first album, but due to the internet all shock value had been lost so no one is really surprised by a Slipknot performance.

I actually really liked it, even though it didn't have a Metallica taste. It still had the anger and fast paced riffs that's necessary for my liking; I listen to it whenever I'm pissed lol.
St. Anger was trying to compete with Nu-Metal albums at the time it was released, plus the band was dealing with some issues at that time: such as James Hetfield's battle with alcoholism, the lawsuit against Napster, and switching of bassists from Jason Newstead to Robert Trujillo.

The lead singer was apparently absent because his wife was having a baby at that time
So they had a guy who can’t even scream fill in for him
You could tell he couldn’t scream because every time a screaming part came up he bent down and pressed a button on the microphone for screaming sound effects
I hadn’t even heard of the band before
I was honestly there for Falling In Reverse and Metro Station but the other two bands weren’t that bad other than Attila’s lack of screaming

Slipknot is extremely overrated. Especially modern slipknot.
Slipknot has some really good Songs but the they aren't what they used to be. But saying they suck can only come from a Metal hater. Or some pussy for which they are too scary or aggressive. Listen to Corey taylors (the Singer) other band Stone sour, he has a fucking angelic voice. This dude's a really talented singer going from soft and emotional to screaming.
@@DangeHD The changes comes from their dark history throughout the first two albums. Corey's screams were so impactful because they were his literal screams. Substance abuse was there, dark mental states were there. They were balls to the walls and unique for what they did and that have them that foothold. Their third album was that major flip from what they once were, a ray of hope. They became more structured as they became stable again. Death came. Sickness hit. Two down. Gray chapter, self explanatory. WANYK is what I can consider a peak album in Slipknot because of how original it is while giving hints to every album before. They are highly praised because they EARNED IT. So for anyone who says they are wack, overrated, or anything else critical, I pity you. They really are going into the history books as one of the best bands to exist during their time.
