After watching this video I learned that I know how to stream already! Thanks tony! Now I can hit the bursts on harumachi clover with all 100's instead of 50's!!!
By far the hardest part for learning streams was the lack of readily available maps to play. Most of my time was googling, asking friends, and manually searching myself. I’m glad to see you took the time to make it easy for new players!
@@celine357 Yeah rate mapsets are incredibly useful for sure, although most either get boring because of bad music(Isogu) or kill my stamina with only 4-5 plays
I love how starting at the basics became a theme in your videos, I think it's pretty evident that many players rush too much when it comes to playing osu because they want to jump into the harder, cooler looking maps. This could be attributed to how a lot of players get introduced to the game by streamers that are good players, so I'm happy that you took your time to explain that going to the basics is the right move here! Now, can Part 2 teach me how to fc Yomi Yori DT?
I appreciate the time and energy it took to get this video out. This is a very well constructed video. However, I have some major issues at around 10:37 where you say "Building rhythm sense only comes with time and experience." You said that getting good at osu is much like getting good at a musical instrument and you even used a piano analogy. If you continue to think about treating osu like a musical instrument, then the fundamentals and the entirety of this video can be summed up quite simply. "Understand rhythm." Yes, you CAN brute force rhythmic sense, consistent accuracy, and finger control with nothing but will power and time, but that takes absolutely forever. Just like you said, "...hundreds of hours." It takes only a fraction of a fraction of that time to improve those areas by getting away from the game and learning some basic music theory. Not chords and how to read music and all that junk, but rhythms. By learning and understanding what exactly rhythm is and how different amounts of equally distributed space play a part in rhythm, then you can much more easily improve those fundamentals, AND by understanding rhythm as a whole, accuracy is never something the be worried about again no matter what rhythm game is being played. The thing is, most people think that learning rhythms are understanding them on a deeper and more fundamental level is more difficult than it actually is. It's quite simple in concept and there are a multitude of videos on RUclips teaching it. Once someone has a basic grasp on rhythm as a whole, there is no more over/under streaming, there is an improvement of accuracy across the board, there's less thinking about what's happening next because you'll pick up on rhythmic patterns and consistencies across every song you ever play, and once rhythm is understood to that level, the only thing holding you back is speed, aim, and stamina. My recommendation is to close osu and watch some RUclips videos on learning the fundamentals of rhythm and then put on a metronome via google or an phone app and working on staying with the metronome. Is it the most fun thing to do? No, but is it the quickest, most streamlined, and most efficient way to get good at the fundamentals of any rhythm game under the sun? Absolutely.
I'm so grateful to you. I remember always looking for videos and they never seemed to help, but you're over here creating an entire full streaming guide. Thank you thank you thanks thank you
I play this game for 2 years, but I think it's amazing the way you teach how to play the game. The beginners are indeed in good hands with your videos, mate!
I found playing Taiko actually help me learn how to stream, might sound strange but taiko requires good finger control when it comes to alternating drum beats which actually help me learn how to stream in base osu, I'm the rare quad player in Osu so I enjoy skills that carry over.
Another thing that really helped me get better at streams was the use of dt tournament picks. It helped me because I used to (and still do) get mind block as soon as I saw anything other than a triple. I could high acc maps with triples and doubles up to 220, but as soon as that sight of a stream appeared, it was double tap central. The tournament dt picks just force you to push through that if you suffer from the same thing.
around the first day of play, I found the absolute tip, "play more" I found it confusing and I don't know what to do except to.. play more. after 2 months, I have found myself better than the first day me I was a little surprised by the fact that it's the only tip I listened to... since I only play more, verifying that it's true for me before going to the next one.
prob a bit late but the definition of streams and bursts in this video are not quite ‘good enough’ (osu is subjective anyway, no definition is ‘correct’). but still, i think it makes more sense that: doubles = 2 notes, triple = 3, burst = 4-9, prolonged bursts = 9-16, streams = 16-32, deathstreams >= 32 or something like that - it doesn’t rlly matter tbh
Bro, your content is great, and you can't realize how much I have learnt from just this when I am focusing to learn how to stream, so tank you very much. Just a question, when is the 2nd part being released? :D
i'm sorry to say that i'm not sure! my next video is going to be about aim though but don't you worry, i think i plan on alternating between each part of the stream + aim series
This was the first guide that actually helped me improve, i played your rehabilitation pack for about an hour and a half until I was completely out of stam in my fingers and my accuracy is way better and im able to consistently hit bursts and short streams now, thank you so much at this rate I'll be streaming in no time.

Great editing on this one. Also video has a really good flow that keeps you interested in it. It really shows how you got better at it. Keep up the great work, hope we can see more of that juicy content soon.
You kinda blew off the raw agility part. I have about no raw agility at all and even 160 is really hard for me, I’ve put in countless hours and have seen slow progress in my speed, however all of this progress disappears if I take even a few days off and I’m back at 0. I don’t know what to do anymore. I have the play time, reading, rhythm sense, I just cannot click fast enough.
I completely agree with you. I have the exact same problem you have. My fingers are just too slow to do even a burst at 160 bpm. I practiced for 2 weeks at least an hour a day, and I still couldn't do a burst at 160 bpm, my fingers just can't move that fast. I also practiced for a week a year before that with also no improvements.
let me guess what the video is you practice bursts (3 notes) then longer bursts (4-9 notes) small streams (7-12 notes) regular streams (12-20 notes) fundemental stream (flow aim) death stream 20+ notes
I am a pretty decent classical musician but recently I have been having a little bit of problems with practicing for long periods of time. Then, I found osu and it’s just a great game because I don’t have to worry about rhythm problems and it’s so fun and easy to play! I’m so glad I got introduced to it.
I was a pp farming degen and went from 7 digits to 200k in 10 days. Then I decided to stop pp farming cuz I got addicted to raise my sword. After 3 months of playing raise my sword nonstop (literally), I immediately beat 4 7 stars in 1 day, passed big black, all without gaining a single pp.
That might actually help. There is this dad who is a piano player and could do 220bpm speed on isogu straight away after learning how to play the game. His accuracy was obviously terrible but the main point is that a piano player can literally stream 220bpm straight away which is insane xD

12:59 as someone who can used my laptop keyboard, i can agree. yes it is better but a mechanical keyboard is not really necessary. Edit 1: it has been one day since i watched this video, i got a bit better at burst. (i am now 820k) Edit 2 : its the second day and i can do a little bit of the stream practice map. i can get 1 million and 600 thousand score and then die. ( still playing the maps suggested by tony )
i love these videos because i realize how much i’ve learned by just playing more. these informational videos are absolutely amazing (i mean it they’re awesome) and really stop bad habits for new players i feel like, me included. these videos and playing more have made me such a better player so much to the point where i’m doing things correctly that i didn’t even know i was wrong in the first place. if you’re new take these videos and try and learn at least 1 thing and build off it, oh and play more.
I learned how to stream after I became a 5 digit with the skill to hit bursts already. Just play the game an you'll be able to hit bursts. I then moved on to long stream practice and low 5 star stream maps. I would play the 140 and 150 bpm stream practice. Doing that helped me not fingerlock, and it also helped with my rhythm sense.
I have no clue if this is going to be in part 2 or not but a tip for tapping is to keep your fingers on the keycaps, your taps become consistent and gain a tiny amount of speed if you raise your wrist a bit Another tip is for stream/flow aim is to actually look at the burst, maybe this is obvious but might help because I realised this when I figured out I was using my peripheral vision for burst Hope this helps as it did for me
I'm really just getting into Osu! and am ranked in the 2nil range and have been playing for 17h. I heard a million things about the "jump one tricks" and stuff. So much so that when I started I actually was the opposite and couldn't really do jump maps. I came here to improve upon what I am good at while being able to just practice some of the fundamentals and this video really helped so thanks a lot :). (Also please don't say that these are skills I shouldn't be practicing oat the level I am at. I don't really care about the pp system and get B's on 5 stars like "Sound Chimera" and "One Smile" which are both maps I definitely recommend for those who would like to try 5 star streams)
Tony your tips are so great, i can't describe it with word. Because of your video, i started progressing and working my way to pass honesty dishonest and the result i get is so amazing, although i cant pass the almost final space stream, but i am glad that this video help me so far
Thanks Tonehh for slapping me with the fact my last 2 years of brute forcing 4-6 star maps is not a good idea on paper. I only recently learned how to stream more consistently in upper 5* maps but my acc is sh*t in general (can't SS or even S anything) so I'll dial back and put myself on the rehab collection until I can FC a good chunk of them. Here's a new sub. Have a nice day :>
this actually helped a lot i was worried about my rate of improvement i have nearly 2 days of playtime and was wondering what stage i should be at especially because i couldn't stream or burst consistently but after watching this i decided to go at my own pace and slowly start doing 4 stars and now i can consistently burst and hit small streams also i can fc 4 stars as well thank you very much and keep up the good work.
hey ima say it right here: if you really think you need a mechanical keyboard, you should get one. I used to play on a razer ornata chroma (mecha membrane) and I thought it was limiting me, so I got a keypad and i know it might be silly but it really did allow me to stream 20 more bpm instantly at the same rate
I have all the "fundamentals of streams" that you outlined, and recently found out why I literally cant even stream, no matter how high of a bpm I can burst. I have absolutely 0 consistency and stamina. This is 100% because I went up in difficulty way too fast, and played too little actual stream maps. This video helped me a lot about 6 months ago, but I now have to deal with my lack of consistency and stamina.
Im so glad I found a good video about this! I only have 3d and 4h playtime in Osu and im at high 4 stars range and getting some streams. so I thought I should watch a video about streaming (because u wanna learn this of course). Im kinda happy that there no trick or fix to do streams. I really enjoyed how u explained all the stuff in this video. I just need to play more and get better. And thats literally it. I really recommend this video for everyone who is grinding Osu. Good job.
Yo I just wanna say thanks for this video. I was already decent at streams and so the basic advice in this video didn't really apply, but the map collection you linked is phenomenal! And just the reminder to actually practice single skills. I haven't done a real *practice* session is such a long time - usually just playing fun 6-7* techmaps until I pass - So doing this practice session improved my streaming SO much. At all BPMs I feel more consistent, and my 220 bpm streaming has gone from 'C rank at most' to 'B rank at least'. In just a single day. Praise the beatmap collection!

Because of your video, i started progressing and working my way to pass honesty dishonest and the result i get is so amazing, although i cant pass the almost final space stream, but i am glad that this video help me so far
this must be an elaborate play more prank.
Dude literally after I watch this video I suddenly could do a 4* burst with 99% acc. mindblowned. thx
Have a nice day :>
i watched this video, now i suddenly became better than everybody in the top 50 combined
this actually helped a lot i was worried about my rate of improvement i have nearly 2 days of playtime and was wondering what stage i should be at especially because i couldn't stream or burst consistently but after watching this i decided to go at my own pace and slowly start doing 4 stars and now i can consistently burst and hit small streams also i can fc 4 stars as well thank you very much and keep up the good work.
hey ima say it right here: if you really think you need a mechanical keyboard, you should get one.
This video helped me a lot about 6 months ago, but I now have to deal with my lack of consistency and stamina.
brooo the timing of this video coming out is out of this world
I saw this in my recommended and was wondering what streaming was but I don’t think I’ll end up playing osu for long enough to begin learning this
ok this is epic
as a stream enjoyer, I love this vid already
Thank you for your videos! They are really helpful! It seems that you really know what you are talking about.
I already passed painters and can play it over and over...
And i'm still watching the whole video
