Hans Landa is one of the best villains in cinema history. And played to perfection by Christoph Waltz, he’s physically small but with an incredible presence. He intimidates with his intellect, and overwhelms people.
Christoph Waltz was also in Django Unchained

At the movie premiere in the 3rd Act, Tarantino originally intended for Aldo to get by with his Italian well enough, but at the table read Brad Pitt did the bad Italian accent and everyone found it hysterical. Tarantino couldn't un-hear it, and it made its way into the movie.

I completely agree, it's definitely the best ending line in any Tarantino film. I laugh and fist pump in the air when he says it. I even like that it's "this just might be.....", not "this IS my masterpiece". That's even cooler.

Tarantino considers Once Upon a Time in Hollywood his masterpiece and it was planned to be so. He says his last movies is not going to be as epic and it will be more of a prologue to his career

    • @TTM9691
      @TTM9691 3 года назад +4

@@jademermaidmusic He may consider it his masterpiece, but I sure don't. I'm hoping for the best with his tenth, but I thought "Hollywood" was ok, "Django" was mostly good, so was "Death Proof". "Hateful 8" was atrocious, I thought. Even "Kill Bill", I didn't like the ending sections of either of those movies, and came out of the theatre disappointed, both parts. I love his first three movies (all three of which I saw the weeks they opened, and in two cases the days they opened) and really like Inglorious Basterds, and then sections of all the others. I definitely don't think "Hollywood" is anywhere near his best movie, and definitely not better than "Basterds". Love the part where Brad Pitt goes to the ranch, though. Also the "Out Of Time" sequence is one of my favorite things in any of his movies.

The bar scene is so much more amazing than many people realize. Accents play a big role in the dynamic and it always blows me away that Tarantino made sure they are absolutely perfect.
The Nazi can tell where all the german native speakers are from and it checks out. Their accents are very subtle, but if you're good with regional dialects you can hear it. And the one they can't figure out really does have a strange accent. It's almost perfect german, but only almost. And it really does sound like it's more of foreign accent, but only a little bit. The explanation he gives places the origin of the accent in southern Switzerland which is freakin' genius! The area has many italian speakers but people there likely also speak german. But most germans will never have met anyone from there, so this is kinda the one place on freakin' earth where people speak german, but most people in Germany would have never heard the accent. And they don't just pretend! Tarantino got himself a bunch of german actors who can actually pull it off. I mean, he could have just faked it, but he didn't. It's all perfect.
It's also always hilarious, that when he orders the drinks with three fingers every german viewer immediately knows he screwed up and american viewers are confused about what's happening. xD

But Inglourious Basterds is the definitely the next on that list. PS: If you haven't seen "Jackie Brown", PLEASE do a reaction video for it! I think there is maybe one, possibly two reaction videos for it, at least that I've found. I'm completely perplexed why that's got the least of reaction videos, since it's one of his most beloved movies, and the one he followed Pulp Fiction with. "Jackie Brown"! Guaranteed to make a great reaction video! "Death Proof" is also a good one that not many people have done.

Unusual pick for your favourite QT movie. I like it too, and it does come to mind straight away when trying to choose mine. Top pick changes too often to outright call a winner for me though. I love them all for different reasons.

@@corriblehunt4554 I like them all too (Hateful excluded), but "Jackie Brown" is the movie I go back to the most. I can watch that one any time, and it is also the movie that gets better and better every time I see it. I can't say that about all of them. Part of it has to be the fact that it's not just Tarantino, it's Tarantino and Elmore Leonard. I think it's got Samuel Jackson's greatest performance, and De NIro's performance is a master class. It's his most "grown-up" movie, and it's got a lot of heart. It's consistent from beginning to end. "Pulp Fiction" for instance has entire chunks that I skip (taxi scene, motel room with girlfriend, travolta and stoltz talking heroin, etc). I think it's very bizarre and sad that it's the Tarantino movie with the least amount of reactions. I'll take it any day over the two "Kill Bills", both of which have lame second halfs in my opinion, two more things I skip. I just watch first half of Vol 1, then the first half of Vol. 2 and I'm done! lol.

@@TTM9691 I feel exactly the same. And I'd also rank Hateful 8 last, but it's still a great movie, imo. It's one of those that gets better if you watch it a few times. First viewing definitely felt like a let down compared to his others, but I think that's only because is so different from his other movies.

@@corriblehunt4554 I'll give it another shot, man! You know, that movie cost twenty bucks a ticket when I went and saw it (which I didn't know until I got to the window to pay). It set me back forty dollars, so even though I was a Tarantino fan going back to the week when "Reservoir Dogs" first opened, I was in quite the bad mood by the time I sat down in my seat! Shell-shocked, actually! I haven't been back to a movie theater ever since, that was the last straw! 🤣

@@TTM9691 LMAO, yeah that'll ruin any movie experience. Movie tickets have become ridiculously over priced now. You're no longer paying just to watch the movie as it's released. They're charging you for the 'experience'. The experience of sitting in an uncomfortable seat, eating overpriced snacks, and hoping the film isn't 90% CGI.... Good Luck with a 2nd viewing. Hateful isn't a movie that requires a big screen. And I know it's not a glowing endorsement, but once you lower your expectations of it being the next Pulp Fiction, or Jackie Brown, it does have it's own style and charm. Very different from his other movies, but still blatantly Tarantino

Ah you cut out my favorite dialogue right at the end. My wife and I are veterans, so it’s absolutely hilarious.
Landa: Something about, “You’ll be killed for this.”
Pitt: “Nah, I’ll get chewed out. I’ve been chewed out before.”

Two films that inspired/ influenced Tarantino to make this film were _The Dirty Dozen_ (with Lee Marvin, Charles Bronson, and many others) and _Where Eagles Dare_ (starring Clint Eastwood & Richard Burton). Both are about small groups of men on a covert mission behind enemy lines in Nazi occupied Europe, and both are definately worth a watch.

fun fact, Adam Sandler was originally casted for the Donnie "Bear Jew" Donawitz, hence why he had a great entrance, because it was supposed to throw the audience in a loop (a "holy shit its adam sandler, I dont believe it" type of moment).
But Sandler wanted to make Jack & Jill instead, big mistake. at least Tarantino still scored Mike Meyers as the general.
