- Hello Fellow Aid, Development & Social Data Practitioners!
Want to collect data on KoboToolbox, but don’t have an Android device? This video will show you how to set up a form for data collection on your iPhone or iPad! The challenge you might be facing is that there is no ODK Collect or Kobo Collect app that’s compatible with iOS devices…so I’ll show you the workaround that allows you to still collect data offline!

Unfortunately this doesn't help when we need to collect audit data - screen time and performance for data collectors. It needs to go through an app instead of a website link
Totally agree with you!!! That is one downside. And it doesn't collect all the metadata. We discussed these challenges with the software developers a couple weeks ago, and I've got all my fingers and toes crossed that we'll have a solution in the future that will solve this!!
Many thanks for your sharing. In my point of view, the link is easier than the App (in both Android and IOS). So why don't we use a link instead of an app (need some steps to download)?
Great question! One thing the app does is register the user - so when you get the data through, you know where the data has come from, what user has submitted it, that kind of thing. The app isn't useful if you're doing web collection, that kind of thing, but is super useful if you have registered data collectors, and want to track responses coming in from a team of people who are each submitting multiple form submissions. Whereas the browser link is more useful for online data collection where end-users are submitting their data directly. What do you think? How else do you think each could be useful?
Svp je n’arrive Pas à afficher mon questionnaire ni en ligne ni hors ligne
Can you give some more details of what the error is? Is it deployed?
But it's not possible to flash Qrcode or barrecode with Web version.
So for android, is it better to use web forms or kobocollect apps?
Good question - and the answer is....'it depends'. When you use the android app, the person submitting data would normally need to have a login/account with Kobo. This would be the typical setup when using data collectors/interviewers. However, you can collect data through the browser/webform without someone necessarily having an account, which would be a typical setup for data collection on the internet, or directly from your audience/users. Does that distinction help?
Je peux avoir la version en français svp, c’est vraiment important pour moi
Working on French!!
Is it possible to set up a user name while using this method? If so how? thanks!
When you collect data with the Enketo link, it doesn't collect certain metadata like username. So using this link means you don't need to be logged in to fill out the form. This can be both a downside and a positive, depending on your needs.
Does this work if you have to login to the form?
You would not have to login to see the form using this method, no.
