Probably one of the greatest songs known to mankind... I know that sounds far fetched and ludicrous, but I mean, come on, this song is unbelievably remarkable.
im just a 10 year old girl, and i love this song, because it means to just not fight against every thing you dont like because it makes you sad, or mad. you just have to let it be and move on to other things.
ya, thx for telling us your age, but isn't that kinda dangerous online, Little Girl? and also, I'm guessing a lot of people could tell you were ten by your username. mewmewcat. ha.
First time i heard this song i was very depressed, full of problems, and feeling that i could do nothing to solve them. Then a listened this song and completly wash out my soul. Thanks Beatles.
I want to appologise firstly if what you read here upsets you. I read your post and felt compelled to write something in reply. If your depression was deep (i also suffer from deep depression) and your life was full of problems and you felt there was no way out.....a fucking SONG washed your soul out?!?!? I'm sorry for the bad language but your depression could not have been as bad as you indicated for 1 song to 'clear the way'. This was and is a great song but i find it a little hard to believe that it took you from the brink of despair to riding the crest of a wave. I also thank the beatles for their music and for making me feel a little better when i'm down but your statement was ridiculous.
samtaurus007 No man, you misunderstood it. The song washed out my soul in THAT moment. It was like the song was speaking directly to me, and i felt very, i dont know, very ''clean''.It was a ''magical'' moment. But of course, my problems is still here tormenting me, and as much this song has the power to confort people, it cant suddenly eliminate a long time depression like that.
UOR Thank you for the explanation. Again, i'm sorry if i upset you. It's just that i'm very realistic when it comes to anxiety and depression. You see, my opinion is the healing can only come from within, music, religion etc are only 'quick fixes' to soothe the problem but self belief and worth help the most. I wish you all the best my friend.
samtaurus007 Yes, is like another music of The Beatles, Within You Without You says, ''try to realize is all within yourself, no one else can make you change''.The depression, or any other things like that, come from within, but the solution also come from within, it is not easy, but we can get rid of these ''monsters'',it only depends on us.Thank you very much, i wish you all the best in the life too.
This song helped me through a dark time in my life too. But the song made me realize that Mother Mary was there for me during this time and helped me, along with Jesus of course, to bounce back and heal me. I'm thankful to God that He used the Beatles and Mary, my Mother to shine light during a dark time; it gave me so much hope and happiness, even to this day.
I have never been a Beatles fan......went to NYC central park, and the "Imagine" circle......a homeless guy was playing guitar, and was very good.....the whole park was in a trance there......very peaceful, and gave me a new appreciation of the Beatles.
This song is so beautiful.. My band director passed away last year and had a concert for him. They played this song in honor of him. The Beatles will always be my favorite band and forever in my heart. Their music always remind me that everything will be okay. :')
***** I'm almost 49 and though I listen to all kinds i know Ihave only scratched the surface. There is jus so much but few songs are as powerful as this one.

Best world peace band every to exist in all four corners of the globe. They may have been from England. However The Beatles was the worlds band. Thank you England!!!
At 1:07 right after "for though they may be parted" someone whispers something...anyone know what? Its kinda hard to hear on this but if you have the cd and a good pair of headphones it stands out better. Heard it a long time ago never knew what it was.
Zeek Nevermore yeah man freaked me out at first read somewhere that it says "shut up john" and it kinda sounds like it but i don't kow any story behind it. Its crazy but the only thing i can think of is that Charlie Manson thought the beatles were talking to him in their music....i wonder if there's more of this in their stuff and maybe the crazy bastard heard it.
It's been said that somewhere in this song George Harrison whispers 'stop it John' to John Lennon, because John hated the song due to its Christian overtones and was messing about. Maybe that's what can be heard at 1:07.
My mother appeared a few weeks ago, and she died 43 years ago. And I was getting words of wisdom from my music of the 70s, on that same night when I saw her. No joke it really did happen.

This one for sure is my favorite for them and when he passed i listened to it a thousand times hoping my nightmare was a dream.
My name is Jacob, I am 16 years old and grew up listening to rap like everyone else in my generation. My father got me into classical rock and all the older music. I think to myself now how terrible now a days music really is. It's so sad people are not hearing these songs. The 70-90s were the best time for music. It's sad that once the generation of people who grew up durning the times of music of this are dead, this music will die off

My year six leaving production featured this song and it was also the song played on our last day of primary school... Still makes me cry and remember good times. Love The Beatles!
The nuns on our childhood retreats used to play is this song even though I heard that "Mary" was a reference to his mother not the Virgin Mary. Either way, it's a beautiful song.
I heard the same thing, but it most certainly is the Virgin Mary, as no offense, but Paul's' mother doesn't have that much power, as the song describes. Think about it.
MrPsychoticGenius Paul wrote the song with his mother in mind when he did so. He wanted anyone to take their version and implement it as their own as they listened. As for religion, you need to do some more research.
MrPsychoticGenius Regardless of Paul being an atheist, he is a very clever man. I'm positive he wrote this song with his mother in mind, but knew that others could also interpret it in many ways. Also, I thought Paul was not religious but spiritual? He said he prayed for his wife. Not that it matters but yeah...
Today in my music class my teacher Ms.Reynold made us play the beat of this with chimes. At first, one kid was signing, then another, then me. I could tell people liked this song cause by the third time playing it kids started getting in groups swaying and signing. Honestly, I was excited when the teacher said," Today's melody we will be playing is a classic. It is by a band you might know." First time she turned it on I was like "Yes" and as kids where playing the melody they sang some danced others just hummed the tune. I'm thrilled my class got to listen to such a great classic.
Oh get over yourself people like different things. You're not any better because you like an old popular band get off your high horse. Comments like yours make me lose faith in humanity because you get on a high horse because of your taste in music. Get over yourself.
Ben Bachorik Not really an insult so much as a suggestion. If you're that lazy then just stop now. I don't think highly enough of you to waste an insult like that on you. Amazingly when I type in let it be the first two versions are this one and the one you said. Then a bunch of other lyric videos. So maybe youtube just thinks you're a frozen fan. Couldn't imagine why. And I'm amazed you had the energy to type this. Good work.
Such a simple but yet powerful message behimd this tune. "Let it be" is the best phrase you can use to sum up how life needs to be lived. People are constantly too focused on the past or the future consequences when you just need to learn to accept what you can't control.
For our school talent show, an autistic student sang this song, and I guarantee, better than you could. It was quite inspirational. I even saw my teacher crying. That part was awkward.
When I was listening to it, i started crying. I love it so much, I wish John didn't get murdered and George didn't die from lung cancer. I want my Beatles back.
Absolutely beautiful song. "Let it be, there will be an answer." Words to live by. Don't let things really upset you, worry you or anger you, just let it be because there will be an answer.
"Let Me See" When I get in fast food trouble Dollar Menu comes to me Fast food words are hidden, let me see And in my hour of waiting People are getting angry in back of me I'm blind without my glasses, let me see Let me see, Let me see Let me see, Let me see Fast food words are hidden, Let me see And when the starved retarded people Waiting in this day agree, I'm a second glancer, let him see All though they may have started To leave their place in line with me I still have no eye cancer, I can see Let me see, let me see Let me see, let me see Yeah, there's an invisible dancer, dancing free Let me see, let me see Let me see, let me see Fast food words are hidden, let me see Let me see, let me see Ah let me see, yeah let me see Fast food words are hidden, let me see And when a fight is getting rowdy There's still people in back of me Fight on until tomorrow, let me see They ask my order with great confusion Dollar Menu comes to me A big mac costs a dollar, It can't be Yeah let me see, let me see Let me see, let me see Oh I'll complain to manager, give me free Give it free, "food's not free (cashier)" Ah make it free, "No food's not free (cashier)" "McDonalds is a business, food's not free (cashier)"

And when the broken hearted people Living in the world agree There will be an answer, let it be For though they may be parted There is still a chance that they will see There will be an answer, let it be Thank you I need this...
This song is so profound to me, on my journey with stage II brain cancer. I truly do 'let it be' and know that God and Mother Mary are both with me and I am in their hands.
I'm 17 and I love 1960s and 1970s music. Is it anything wrong with that? I'm not saying that I should have been born before, I'm OK with new generations because there's nothing I can do about it.
In an interview with Lennon December 8th 1970, he said:"I felt sad, the film Let it Be was set-up by Paul, for Paul. That is one of the main reasons the Beatles ended".
Johan Cavalli Let's be real here. John Lennon was a truly talented man but, he was also a self absorbed prick. If you read any interviews with the man or news stories about him it's easy to see he was very insecure. Even in the Playboy interview from 1980 (I bought the book of the whole interview, not just the excerpts PB published) you can see it in the words he chooses. It's a shame his life was cut short, because it seemed he was on a path to truly understand personal happiness and becoming a better person in his own right.
Their music actually has meaning and makes sense. Today's music is garbage. There's a few artists that are great, but not well known. The only artist that is worth anything that's popular is Bruno Mars. That guys is defiantly going down in history next to MJ, Elvis and The Beatles.
Watch his Superbowl performance and tell me that he's not the best performer of this generation. I don't care for his music, but I can't deny the fact that the guys is great at what he does.
Considering the fact that John Lennon once said that The Beatles were more famous than Jesus, they're definetely not referring to the Christian figure.
I find that certain types of music today is not as bad as some of the other stuff, but I don't think we will ever be able to forget this beautiful era of music
I always assumed the line "Mother Mary comes to me, speaking words of wisdom ..." was about the Virgin Mary. I'm not even sure why at this point. I learned only this year that Paul McCartney's mother, who died when he was a teenager, was named Mary. Am I the only one I wonder?
I think he meant to be somewhat religious. I mean the title itself, let it be, was a direct quote of Mother Mary. "Let it be done to me according to His will." i mean come on!
***** We'll have to agree to disagree. It makes a lot more sense to me that he was referring to his own mum. I can't think of other religious references in his work. If you can, tell me and I'll have to reconsider. At the end of the day, it doesn't matter anyway, right? That's one of the wonderful thing about poetry and music. It can mean different things to different people. Cheers.
***** Paul McCartney went through different periods in his life when it comes to religion, kinda like a roller coaster. I believe this was supposed to be about his mother, not the Virgin Mary, and since his mother and the Virgin Mary share a name, he used that as a sort of connection or something? I'm not quite sure. He never really told what his songs were about because he liked people to speculate. I believe I read somewhere that it was more likely that it was about his mother though. It was a while ago though, so I could be wrong.
***** I agree completely. I can't count how often I've heard the artists themselves say so - refuse to explain meanings for that very reason. I wrote what I did because I'd gone for so many years just assuming "Virgin Mary' that when I put together the fact that Paul's mother had the name "Mary" I was rather stunned to realize I'd missed that possible interpretation altogether.
To The Most High, the Blessed Virgin Mary. March 2014 Hail Mary full of grace The Lord is with Thee. Blessed art thou amongst women; blessed is thy fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God pray for us sinners now and at the hour of our death. Amen. (Thank you).
xxydot Let's just say that they were on a sort of "spiritual journey" that took John in one direction, George in another, Paul more towards the semi-orthodox side of the British culture, and Ringo, who knows? This one seems pretty much "out there in the open" to me.
My dad just died and it's hard coping (I'm younger). He was a bit older and he loved the Beatles. Listening to them is a way of being close to my dad. And for anyone, not just me. These men simply changed everything, no doubt about it. No one has come close to their level of genius and creativity, and no one ever will. Their simple songs have layers of deeper meaning and intelligent designing.

I'm thrilled my class got to listen to such a great classic.
i looked up "let it" in youtube, and all that came up was frozen. i have lost my faith in humanity.
Yes :-; we all have
well it is more relevant, so what do you expect
Good work.
josh201086 wow defending the Disney side what are you like four
Such a simple but yet powerful message behimd this tune. "Let it be" is the best phrase you can use to sum up how life needs to be lived. People are constantly too focused on the past or the future consequences when you just need to learn to accept what you can't control.
These were the good days of music
Yess
sure glad I lived for this band back then I'm 48 and loving this till this day great bands like this you'll never hear again
For our school talent show, an autistic student sang this song, and I guarantee, better than you could. It was quite inspirational. I even saw my teacher crying. That part was awkward.
Whenever I hear this song, I just get so emotional. This song is definitely a great song to remember.
I'm only 5 months old and I listen to the Beatles I was born in the wrong generation my generation sucks

wonderful song!!!
Absolutely beautiful song. "Let it be, there will be an answer." Words to live by. Don't let things really upset you, worry you or anger you, just let it be because there will be an answer.
"Let Me See"
When I get in fast food trouble
Dollar Menu comes to me
Fast food words are hidden, let me see
And in my hour of waiting
People are getting angry in back of me
I'm blind without my glasses, let me see
Let me see, Let me see
Let me see, Let me see
Fast food words are hidden, Let me see
And when the starved retarded people
Waiting in this day agree,
I'm a second glancer, let him see
All though they may have started
To leave their place in line with me
I still have no eye cancer, I can see
Let me see, let me see
Let me see, let me see
Yeah, there's an invisible dancer, dancing free
Let me see, let me see
Let me see, let me see
Fast food words are hidden, let me see
Let me see, let me see
Ah let me see, yeah let me see
Fast food words are hidden, let me see
And when a fight is getting rowdy
There's still people in back of me
Fight on until tomorrow, let me see
They ask my order with great confusion
Dollar Menu comes to me
A big mac costs a dollar, It can't be
Yeah let me see, let me see
Let me see, let me see
Oh I'll complain to manager, give me free
Give it free, "food's not free (cashier)"
Ah make it free, "No food's not free (cashier)"
"McDonalds is a business, food's not free (cashier)"
awesome lyrics to the tune of "Let it Be" kudos...

The Beatles is the maximum, their songs have meaning. This rock band is perfect, it can not be compared to singers now.

"I wake up to the sound of music"
Great play ;)
The instrumental solo is the bestttt
And when the broken hearted people
Living in the world agree
There will be an answer, let it be
For though they may be parted
There is still a chance that they will see
There will be an answer, let it be
Thank you I need this...
Let it be > Let it go
This song is so profound to me, on my journey with stage II brain cancer. I truly do 'let it be' and know that God and Mother Mary are both with me and I am in their hands.
I'm 17 and I love 1960s and 1970s music. Is it anything wrong with that? I'm not saying that I should have been born before, I'm OK with new generations because there's nothing I can do about it.
nope you're fine, it's just this generation of music is absolute trash
Cringe.
+carloshdezsan I'm a undeveloped fetus, and I hate my generation! Gimme attention!
I want this song to played at my funeral. Love the classics. :) Let it be.

How dare you cut off the last note! but I guess I'll let that be.
I grew up listening to these guys....God Bless.!
In an interview with Lennon December 8th 1970, he said:"I felt sad, the film Let it Be was set-up by Paul, for Paul. That is one of the main reasons the Beatles ended".
Paul is way better in my opinion.
(Don't start a comment war people I said in my opinion)
***** Just one question. Have you listen to every Beatle-song, starting from 1963 ? Not only Yesterday, Sgt Pepper and Abbey Road?
Johan Cavalli
Let's be real here.
Jeff Meyer
You are talking blasphemy! Kill the infidel!
Jeff Meyer
I agree with you 100x100. However Paul was a real musician.
The 60's were the best years. I lived it and loved it.

RIP Aunt Mary you were always the heart and wisdom that held our family together. We miss you
LETTER B! LETTER B!
XD
Let it be.....Whisper words of wisdom.....really saves my life
Ik it's weird but I prefer Mj, Elvis and The Beatles than modern day music and I'm 12...
That's not even weird.
Their music actually has meaning and makes sense. Today's music is garbage. There's a few artists that are great, but not well known. The only artist that is worth anything that's popular is Bruno Mars. That guys is defiantly going down in history next to MJ, Elvis and The Beatles.
Clown Prince
No.
Watch his Superbowl performance and tell me that he's not the best performer of this generation. I don't care for his music, but I can't deny the fact that the guys is great at what he does.
Clown Prince well, you are one of the few 12 year olds i respect. hats off to you! modern music sucks!
Beatles é vida de sonhos, paixões, amores, amizades, liberdade, gostar de gostar, de viver. Deveria existir uma escola BEATLES mundial.
Carlos Augusto callate, tu idioma es un sorete mal cagado
Did you know that Mother Mary does not refer to the christian figure of Mary, the mother of Jesus, but instead to John Lennon's mother.
You mean Paul's mother? John Lennon's mother was Julia Lennon.
That was it. Thanks for the correction and not being a douche about it
tehraptortheo
love your response!
Considering the fact that John Lennon once said that The Beatles were more famous than Jesus, they're definetely not referring to the Christian figure.
That's true, but it's worth mentioning that Paul McCartney was asked about it and said that fans can interpret the song whichever way they please.
I find that certain types of music today is not as bad as some of the other stuff, but I don't think we will ever be able to forget this beautiful era of music
:( my brother would listen to this song right before he would go fight when he was in Iraq
Had to sing this song in choir in sixth grade. Fell in love with it.
Why do we get LMAO and JB and not this? It's not fair
Its sad times we live in
Before my time , but grew up on The Beatles i just love their music, it makes sense.
I wrote what I did because I'd gone for so many years just assuming "Virgin Mary' that when I put together the fact that Paul's mother had the name "Mary" I was rather stunned to realize I'd missed that possible interpretation altogether.
its definitely about his mum but i dont think the double meaning was unintentional. He knew how itd sound :)
A facinating arrangement of Pachelbel's Canon. Love it.
To The Most High, the Blessed Virgin Mary. March 2014
Hail Mary full of grace The Lord is with Thee. Blessed art thou amongst women; blessed is thy fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God pray for us sinners now and at the hour of our death. Amen. (Thank you).
Amen! Let it be!
I'm glad you like this... we live in very uncertain times and this song just seems to come from The Virgin Mary. Be well.
Chandra Leigh What we believe in and whom we call out to makes a great deal of difference both now and forever. Bless you!
Weren't the Beatles agnostic?
xxydot Let's just say that they were on a sort of "spiritual journey" that took John in one direction, George in another, Paul more towards the semi-orthodox side of the British culture, and Ringo, who knows? This one seems pretty much "out there in the open" to me.
Yaaaas! Even though, Im a modern teen now, I still love this song. 😍👌
keep clam and let it be
Songs can be interpreted in many ways. I think this one can be applied to everyone's life.
