    Thanks for this video l. I have game and the old mins of Moria starter set. Will be using the set with the old blue book sbg rules as an intro game before introducing the current rules. Balins tomb is an iconic sense and for a newbie more interesting than using random war band. Onto the hobbits and boromir!

      @@SwordsandBrushes No worries! Are you planning to stick to MESBG or branch out into other game systems?
      Yeah i've had a few games on either side and it's good fun (particularly playing as fellowship)! Probably somewhat limited replay value but really simple so good for people new to wargaming

      On this channel i will focus on Middle Earth content i think, i would like to make it a repository of Painting videos, scenery/terrain and games, as well as a couple other things i can think about.
      My ultimate goal would be to do youtube full time and then i would certainly create another channel which will then go into other content like game systems and board games for sure! But one step at a time :):)
      Oh absolutely, i liked the tactics of being the Fellowship and then working as a swarm of Goblins too. It would be interesting if GW make more of these types of games, not only for Middle Earth but Fantasy and 40K too.
      I certainly wouldn't say no if they revisit something like the Spacefleet board game! :):)

      @@SwordsandBrushes Amazing! Well i'm here for it my dude!
      I've not played MESBG for years but when it was initially released it was the first thing that got me into GW games, hoping to dip my toe with some battle companies in the new year! :)
      I feel like it wouldn't be a huge job to use the core mechanics of Balins tomb as a template to recreate Amon Hen or mini scenarios in Osgiliath or something, would love if GW did make other scenario box games!

    • @SwordsandBrushes
      @SwordsandBrushes  2 года назад

      Oh cool that sounds like a great starting point, what would you start off with for battle companies? Are you a good or an evil kind of player - or a bit of both?
      Yes fingers crossed that there will be more from them, hopefully they will make even more when the Amazon show drops!

    My tip for getting rid of gaps after assembly is to prevent them from existing in the first place :) don't use the pins, but cut them off instead. Use plastic cement as it melts the plastic a little, and then carefully line up the components. Hold for 20 sec or so, and you should be able to put it down by then. Give a much better result than using the pegs. Even works on more modern sculpts, like gw's push fit mini's for Warhammer underworlds

    • @SwordsandBrushes
      @SwordsandBrushes  2 года назад +1

      Another great tip there! I think I have cut a few of the pins before as they just frustrated me. I remember some stormcast were a touch annoying to put together and it certainly helped :)
      Thank you for adding your comment for others to see :):)

    I found using Valejo plastic puttty is brilliant, you can smooth it off with a ..wait for it.... wet finger or a wet brush to smooth it out.

      Ah they are on the way! Just did a poll over the weekend and Aragorn won so he's next, and i'll get a Hobbit done afterwards to continue the Fellowship. The plan is to get them done, and there will also be some Rohan, Warhammer Old World and Scenery over the coming months :)

    Caulk?? WTF? It's basically rubber. I work with stuff all day and it's great for filling gaps between two pieces of wood, but never on miniatures. Use a proper filler for models. There are so many options from superglue mixed with baking soda to miliput to greenstuff to Tamiya putty or any other model putty. But never decorators caulk.

    • @SwordsandBrushes
      @SwordsandBrushes  Год назад

      Yeh I had some left over in the garage after using it in the house.
      I just like to experiment with things on the channel and show how they go :) I quite liked the slight rubber finish as i could put scratches on it which I didn't think about until afterwards. So I think I'm going to try it on something else at some point and see what I can come up with.
      Yes I really like using vallejo plastic putty for gap filling on minis, I find it easier to use than greenstuff :):)
