A True Masterpiece: To Your Eternity (Fumetsu no Anata e)

- To Your Eternity, or Fumetsu no Anata e, is the best new anime in the Spring 2021 season & could even be Anime of the Year. To Your Eternity Episode 1 is an absolute must-watch, and was one of the best first episodes in history.
Edited by @matt_sun
To Your Eternity is the beautiful journey of a literal "blank-slate protagonist" discovering what it means to be human. The premise alone is interesting enough to binge the full season, but what makes it undroppable is the incredible writing and subtle themes. This anime is simply a wonderful thing to experience and I would recommend it to everyone, regardless of genre preferences.

The author is the same author of “A Silent Voice”, she’s pretty good at making us fucking cry.
i could not cry but i did inside I felt like crying all the time but now the 2 newest episode aren't very sadaning
Agree. She's the only author for now that made me cry when reading a manga (animes get me more due to the soundtracks and voice acting when done right), both pieces are absolutely incredible at this hhhhhh
she is?! A Silent Voice is the best thing ever!
@@kay.4194 It definitely is! And yes she is the author :D
I highly highly HIGHLY recommend you read/watch this series and grab a bag of tissues.. Or 4..
@Me Nozzy the worst thing about that message is that my sister who already ready the manga said that already and more so I'm like plz stop
The Gugu arc is gonna break me and everyone, I say even more than the first episode
March arc broke me more, even more than first and Gugu. Also Tonari arc was mediocre tbh.
@@ottovonbismarck5631 Idk, Gugu's death hurt a lot more for me then March's. I think Gugu got more developement and Fushi is also more human now, so the hurt Fushi gets from Gugu's death is more "pronoucned" or whatever.
Yep
I thought Gugu will live
@@Daemonlord7372 Fushi is immortal, so that means that everyone will die eventually lol, not as sad as Gugu's way tho
The episode 1 was truly something else

ACTUALLY i never cried for an anime but THIS... THIS MADE ME BAWL LIKE A BABY IDEK WHY GOD........
i swear
even if they released only the first episode,
id still nominate it for best anime of the year
@@RenderingUser same with me, anime of the year.... this anime is criminally underrated, more youtubers like Gigguk, animeman, mother's basement to talk about this anime so that it will be know widely and have more audience. But im proud of ma boi echidnut to recommend this masterpiece to me, thanks to him
IT MADE ME CRY
The emptiness of the protagonist opens up a lot of character growth by meeting a lot of people; good or bad.
Good thing, the protagonist met the boy and March first or else...

Now that I'm reading the manga, the anime feels like it is very well-done. Like an anime that lightly surpasses the manga in content but in a way that builds on the manga, that's perfect.
aye
Cried a lot, *a lot*, during the first episode. Can't remember when was the last time I cried that much at anything, maybe Violet Evergarden's episode 10?
Anyway, another great video! I was looking forward to this one, since you announced it during the seasonal tier-list video (impeccable taste btw).
Wasnt that sad
@@Duran762 thanks for your opinion
@@GEBULSHED Ur welcome the anime is great tho theres another opinion for u
@@Duran762 I feel like that totally depends on the person watching it. I cried a lot during the first episode entirely because of the nameless boy. He died because he tried to achieve his dreams, and that reminded me of the times I had emotional burnouts. I can see why someone else wouldn't be that saddened by it, though. The anime is definitely great!
Legend cried over gugu
This series is BEAUTIFUL , my god i love it, thank you
Edit: I cried pretty much every episode, no joke.
its so good
I didn't cry *every* episode, but almost always seeing a person who already died is kind of painful. Especially because you're constantly remembered of the death cause.
This channel is very underrated, he needs to have at least 1 million subs!
he's already 1/10th there
agreed dude this channel in my opinion is the best regarding animes
the algorithm is just not on his side unfortunately
Most people only know him for re zero reviews unfortunately, even though he's hilarious when covering any topic
Honestly most anime channels have become either meme channels or manga or douin/hentai channels.
0:59 I agree that To your eternity would be insulted to be named an Isekai. There are good Isekai, but this series is in a league of it's own in the drama category. The writing, the characters, the music, the nostalgia, even the action and animation are brilliant. It was anime of the year in 2021 and I have a feeling season 2 of it might be a big contender for 2022.
I got this show as an ad on Crunchyroll and I thought it was an emotional and fun journey between a boy and his wolf, never in my life have I ever been this glad to be baited by an ad
That first episode is one of the most beautiful stories i've ever seen. It perfectly sets the story, the premise and the main character, and it manages to do all this while showing a tragic yet amazing little story

I started reading the manga years ago when there weren’t many chapters or readers, and I remember how much its story first impacted me. Best sales pitch for an anime ever. This video alone made me wanna watch the anime and read the manga. Great Video and thanks for introducing this to me.
Really solid points ! Can't agree more on how this story brings out our emotions which it intends to, it did made me cry when it wants to or laugh when it want to. This is one of those anime that you have to see where the story goes and how it concludes because you are just so invested in the characters and their journey, you just can't wait for the next episode. Honestly, really well done review !
Boros talking to saitama had more emotion in it then this entire series.
0:41 his goal is to observe the main character… just like how readers do
Well I didn't turn into 11 years old orphan at the end of the part 1
Can we talk about those manga to anime transitions though? That was great.
I'll tell another reason for why this is THAT good:
You see I'm an anime only,
and as soon the season finishes...
I'll continue with the fucking manga.
I only did this only once in my entire life.
Yes, this is THAT good.
I wish I had your patience.

these two are truly masterpieces❤❤
Did you already watch the grave of the fireflies?
Always happy to get a notification for a new Echidnut video and even more happy to see that it is a video about To Your Eternity
I had this theory a while ago that fushi is sort of a metaphor for humans. As we grow we are shaped and Influenced by those who are close to us. Whether it be a friends favorite food that you decided to try, or small mannerisms you picked up from your parents, little things like that are what make up who we are. And this fits very neatly with fushi because when someone who he has a connection to dies, not only does he inherit their form, he also inherits a part of what made them who they were. Whether it be the nameless boy's desire to see the world, or march wanting to be a grown up. He keeps those parts of them alive forever within himself
Dont worry Echidnut, I think we all got a little teary eyed watching the first episode.
Yeah
Yo when tf did you hit 100k?! Congrats! Keep up the good content!
Thank you!
thankyou for making this... this is really one of best series of 2021

I wouldn't call myself very emotionaly stable, but I use crying as an indicator of a good anime. I am a 24 yo slavic male from eastern europe, I'm not feminine and I never cry in real life. But when an anime makes me - it definetely resonates with my soul. Episodes 1, 13 and the one with a little girl and an arrow (avoiding spoilers) turned me and a childhood friend I was watching it with into a literal waterfals. NGE, Guren Lagann, NHK, Jobless reincarnation, Vivy and many others are on the list. And I noticed recently there are more and more such animes in every season. GJ Japan!

1. Clique na engrenagem;
2. Clique em "legendas";
3. Selecione "inglês";
4. Clique na engrenagem;
5. Selecione "auto-traduzir";
6. Selecione português.

i never cried cause i'm really emotionless...
But man this as been painful/amazing to watch, and i almost cried for the episode 12... Love it
I'm also not very emotional. But I managed to let out my feelings multiple times.
I teared up at least 10 times, cried twice, and bawled my eyes out once, throughout the duration of this show. I am never watching this again.
I went in blind into this series and, in the first episode, I already cried like a little girl who got their ice cream slapped to the floor. Then in a particular moment a few episodes later, I cried 10x that. You know what episode.
I’m so glad this anime is getting a lot of attention because it FCKN DESERVES IT
This is not isekai because the protagonist was not reincarnated into another world, but born into another world. It is basically his first world.
You really referenced Kokoro Connect in a 2021 seasonal anime video. This is why you're the best.

@@inoe182 thanks for informing me, I didn't know so I just guessed. :)
i have been watching anime for years and this had me tearing in episode 1, it's so beautiful and thought provokingly well put to together, the pacing was a bit slow but it lends to the character development and building the viewer connection to the characters, music was also great, season 1 was brilliant. This is going down as my number 1 anime of all time!
In the last episode he got to learn of disregarding other's feelings for your own gain with gugu saying "it's just an experiment", and then later he chopped a turnip (or smth) really hard and he smiled. that was legitimately the most horrifying sequence of events in the entire series up until now for me
Those scenes were unrelated, that wasn't even close to what they were portraying. The scene where he chops the turnip and smiles, he smiles cause he thinks he's making something incredible that his new family is going to enjoy eating. The scene with Gugu experimenting on him was meant to portray him realizing that he's different from other people and that they might want to hurt him for their own gains.
I been meaning to watch this. Ty for still making videos even without it being re zero
Man this is a depressing season. Between this, Vivy and 86 just full of "it doesn't get better" type of situations.

Thank you for recommending this masterpiece, it really needs more recognition! I’ve been so deep into it ever since it started airing, now I’m already updated with the manga. I love your deeper analysis into it, how every action and decision can affect the future, and how a small act of kindness can make such an impact. Some of the people who showed him kindness may be gone, but their memories are something he will bring to HIS eternity. I love the metaphor with how he takes their forms too, it’s just like in real life: we bring a part of the people we met and loved inside of us, in our hearts, wherever we go and grow from the things we’ve learned from them. 🥺
And yes I also cried at the 1st episode, as well as episode 5 and 8. This story is truly something special, I hope more people will watch it 🥺
if you have read the manga you know it's far from a masterpiece
@@ThatAnimeSnob Well Part 1 (Medieval Arc) was a masterpiece for me, I loved it from start to end.
The Part 2 (Modern Arc) may not be that good yet but I think that’s because it started slowly to show a “peaceful world” at first, plus it has a very different setting and it hasn’t reached its climax yet so I can’t really judge it yet. But it’s getting more intense now with the latest updates, and I like the mysteries in it.
Thanks for the show suggestion, I will start watching it right away
Hope you enjoy it!
