Answers lots of questions I have on 1984 Chevrolet CUCV military contract vehicles, most with 208 TC but a few with 205s. Figure 8, they used the long nose 15594158 input gear and the 4" long transmission to tc adapter. This input has a stickout of 3.75 inches. Yes, I have one and am installing a 4l80. I have all but the transmission, just need one with output reluctor ring.
Thats cool i didnt know the 208 adaptor will fit on the 205 circular pattern. I have a ford 205 ds drop and a 4wd 4l80e and i had to do the same mod you did to the “ stock” adaptor but also had to oval out 2-3 bolt holes and shave down the bearing retainer on the case.
205 transfer case has a SAE 6 bolt power takeoff option. That orange cover is a replacement for the stamped steel cover. The 205 was originally specified for heavy gear oil and since all gears turn to keep bearings lubricated, they get hot. Finned covers help with cooling, not as much as running automatic transmission fluid. Some transfer cases have pressure lubrication which reduces heating as the gears aren't sloshing. Auto transmission fluid is an adequate gear lube, just not too good for extreme shear like a hypoid differential.

Would this work with a driver drop 205 as well
