most artists peak at some point or reach a time where they become considered past their prime. i dont even think that's a possibility with aphex. this guy just never stops learning and getting better, subtler. ive been eagerly awaiting bootlegs of this latest tour and to my total lack of surprise, i love what im hearing.
I think the thing is he just makes so much stuff that there's always something to please everyone. The guy really is a musical genius. There's always a lot of soul in what he does too...that helps
Yes Richard, just keep doing you. I hate when artists claim they wanted to “evolve” when really they just ran out of material and tried another genre and suck. Aphex Twin has literally kept it real since day one and never succumbed to any one “path”. He does what he feels, not what his pocketbook required that year… which ironically is what people want more and will pay for
For real - the scales he adheres to (or doesn't) are so bizarre. He's built is own little city that he throws parades in. Nobody else knows how to get into the city, but he lets folks visit every 8 years or so.
Seems like he is really refining and limiting himself to particular equipment to go deeeeep. I still can’t figure out how no one else can make anything even close. Magic.
@@Brendan-Black lol. How do you know that wasn't microtonally intentional without the track being released yet? It was a dj set, just 2 laptops. If it's a 303, it's very unlikely to be software. That's like assuming Autechre live is out of tune and out of time, when the improvisation/preset morphing of the patch within their max msp system was intentional.
@@Brendan-Black It happened to him before during live shows. Nothing to be ashamed of, though. Analog equipment has a mind of its own. It ads to the charm. Happens to Ceephax (Squarepusher's little bro) all the time too!
JEEEE MAN Is there a greatest artist than Aphex in all of Earth's history? I do not exaggerate when I ask this, I genuinely think he's on par with legends like Hendrix, Iron Maiden, Nine Inch Nails, Kate Bush, Mozart, Beethoven, Death Grips, Bach, Schubert and Tchaikovsky. Him and Blanck Mass are amazing.
This is the best damn sound quality you're gonna find from a live recording. I'm satisfied for now, of course I'd love to hear the actual studio version though
The Tregaskin family has been busy it seems
Underrated comment, take a like!

This tune is so beautiful. Hope he release it

Indeed but still there are no more radical changes from a certain age on if you know what i mean, anyway new aphex is always epic!
Electronic is different, I agree r&r artists get worse and softer
Syro was by far his weakest album.

Favourite new one out of the unreleased tunes he has played this year.
Always pushing through the ultimate limits of the boundless.

That little melody that comes in at 5:10 is fucking ace..
I DONT UNDERSTAND how he keeps pumping out sounds which are beyond my comprehension.... How does he do it again and again
it's in the new show, and album?
Hell yes.

Must be. Another new track today, Blackbox.
Blackbox is so f’ing good I listened to it 50 times on loop the day it dropped. How does he make something that seems so simple, so amazing.
Ok🕊️
I hope so
ep was announced for the 28th this month
Love the ending, harkens back to Selected Ambient Works II era.

I love how he slowly corrects the 303 that starts slightly out-of-tune
