- This video shows Captain Dean Hobbs taking the S.S. Badger out of the port of Ludington, MI. Many thanks to Captain Hobbs for sharing this with us!
Awwww...beautiful Badger....love riding on the Badger❤️😊
Sure miss Captain Hobbs.
That has to be the loudest ferry horn I ever heard. I'm sure in person, not even foam earplugs would help. I'm sure from the bridge, you would have to block your ears when you sound the horn.
The Badger has two whistles.....a three pitch air horn and a steam whistle. Sometimes they blow them together just for fun.
What's up with the beret?

Whats with the agitating clacking noise
Engine order telegraph. Captain moves the handles on the port & starboard telegraphs to tell the engine room what speed and direction to run the engines. Each E.O.T has a bell in it that rings when the handle is moved, and also rings when the engine room acknowledges the command
