  • Dance story inspired by the life of Margaretha Geertruida Zelle MacLeod better knowned as MATA HARI, an oriental dancer, courtisane and a spy during World War I.
An unhappy marriage through a newspaper ad with a colonial officer, full of alcohol and plots, their exotic life in Java and Sumatra and her fascination by oriental dance, the sudden death of their small son, a tumultuous divorce and the loss of her daughter in a lawsuit predestined young Margaretha for life as an oriental dancer, a courtesan and a double spy during the World War I. Under the stage name Mata Hari "the eye of the day" reaped success in Paris and other European cities, and her career was lined with dozens of lovers, mostly from the ranks of officer corps. Which finally became fatal for her.
Although the actual accusation was never proven, in the tense atmosphere of World War I., which brought more and more victims, the French convicted her and executed on October 15, 1917, on the outskirts of Paris, at the age of 41. However, her story lives on.
