Campbell may be bad and a psychopath, but he’s a smart person, he chooses his moves carefully. He knows what to do and when.
He could have shot Cassandra the first episode like he wanted to but thought a few steps ahead, he knew things were going to escalate fast, he knew a lot of people also didn’t like Cassandra, and that he’s not the only one with a gun. So he waited for someone to commit the dirty work for him and get rid of Cassandra.
Next up, Harry. He could notice he’s desperate, unstable, and he took advantage of that and made him even more unstable by providing him drugs. So now Harry is dependent on him, he’s got someone in his corner. Next up was using Harry to run for mayor, so he has control over New ham after everybody got rid of Allie, and now he’s running the show behind the scenes.
And last but definitely not least, Elle, he could notice her vulnerability, how lonely and alone she felt, and he made himself her only friend, only companion, made himself look like a hero, someone that will be there for her, care for her, protect her, when actually he’s controlling her, him by his side makes him look a whole lot less like a psychopath, like he’s capable of love, of empathy for another human being.

NOTE TO ALL: it's not hard/long to read if you split the paragraph into 1 - cassandra 2 - harry 3 - elle.

nice analysis. makes me more sad that it might not be renewed. it's like the littlefinger we never got. (since game of thrones killed off LF's cunning character before actually killing LF)

As much as Campbell hates Sam, he still learned Sign Language for him. If Campbell REALLY hates Sam, he would not have spent the time and effort to learn to sign.

Not necessarily. Functioning psychopaths are often mistaken for genius. Most times they are. Campbell has had a lifetime of watching comms between Sam and their parents. Being so smart and cunning, he learned to sign by default.

what's up with this psychopath or not really hating sam stuff? if your sibling is deaf, whether or not you love/like/hate/dislike each other, you're gonna have to learn to sign if you wanna communicate at all, and you'll HAVE to communicate at some points. i think same principle with allie and cassandra. like idk kids learning multiple languages early on.
or whatever retcon stuff to explain why people sign to accommodate Sean Berdy LOL

@@nicbentulan Definitely not true. I've gone deaf and use ASL. My family still expects me to read lips despite not having the years of practice Sam would have had.

@@blueturtle3623 oh hell that sucks. thanks for sharing. so the society therefore is unrealistic in that sam's 3 relatives know sign or something?
but for me idk i figure it's like those kids who grow up in multilingual backgrounds. (hikaru nakamura and i are exceptions though. e doesn't speak much japanese. i don't speak much filipino.)

    • @blueturtle3623
      @blueturtle3623 3 года назад +1

@@nicbentulan I mean, it definitely happens that a hearing family learns to sign. But I think the statistic is about 40% of hearing families sign at home. So it's definitely not unrealistic. But it's also not common. My family is a bit different from Sam's given that I wasn't deafened at a young age (Sam said 3-4 I think?) and I had a serious head start on learning to sign. I will say though, if Sam's parents learned to sign, Campbell could have picked it up completely accidentally. They're around the same age, so it's not like Campbell was learning it as a 2nd language-his household was bilingual. Sam is younger though, and his parents weren't immediately experts so I'm guessing they all took a class. But you are right in saying that learning ASL is not an indicator of how much Campbell cares for Sam. My family cares for me deeply and doesn't sign.

@@blueturtle3623 Few people seem to posit that Allie killed Cassandra or that Allie's a psychopath/sociopath. Dear reader, do you disagree with this?
In this case, Allie's an even greater psychopath/sociopath than Campbell because she's more covert and cunning whereas Campbell is more overt and is more interested in force than deception. (see (*) below.) I've seen a few reddit posts and comments that seem to have the same reasons that I thought of and even fewer videos (none) and comments on youtube.
The general idea is that that Allie's being a a psychopath/sociopath is hinted by Cassandra's heart medication, Allie's mentioning about Cassandra's potential heart failure, Allie's preparing herself for Cassandra's probable death by heart failure, Allie's mentioning of living in Cassandra's shadow, Allie's genetic link to her ASPD/psychopath/sociopath first cousin, etc.
I have some more reasons, but I couldn't find any matches on reddit or youtube.
Unfortunately, I've seen some evidence against this in later episodes of season 1. Also, I read a youtube comment about how the writers might have changed their mind about who killed Cassandra midway through writing season 1 (I guess kinda like 'Asami was a duplicitous spy' in The Legend of Korra or that stupid Marian/Zelena thing in Once Upon a Time Season 4)
