Awesome videos!! I recently received my first hot tent and stove, so I’ve enjoyed learning from your content, as well as being provided with those Huron National Forest views, they’re all I think about when I’m away! Thanks for the great videos and keep em’ coming!
Thanks for watching! Looking forward to another trip in a couple weeks. Snow isn’t looking so great with the warmup. Fingers crossed for a nice storm before then!
Hey Nice video. I have a different tent than you. Mine is the Tigris Hammock tent . I like your idea about the side vent for the stovepipe. Mine goes straight thru the top but also has provisions for a side stove jack. I too wondered about rain coming down thru the opening and splashing on the stove. I especially like the flap that goes over the top to deflect water. Where your pipe goes thru the sidewall its best to use something called Lava tape to go around the pipe. That will prevent any burns to the stovejack or tent material. To be clear you need to purchase a spark arrestor so you wont put holes in your tent from the embers. For fuel I use the Enviro -Logs . They are compressed wax cardboard . They burn hot and last for hours so no more wasted time cutting and splitting wood. Also you will not have to stoke your stove so often thru the night to stay warm. You are close enough to your car so that could work. Like you I started with a kids snow sled then graduated to an official Pulk sled made by Mountainsmith. Its got a chest harness and tows well over snow. Hope this helps.
looks like the stove jack is doing well in the door, good job... might want to bring a wind shield incase wind blow down pipe and fills tent with smoke.. I had that happen on a tent I was using 20 years ago...
Love the channel brother! I've been super busy lately and haven't been on the forums much. OneTigris sent me their hammock hot tent to test and review and Pomoly sent me their Stovehut 70. O think I spent more time in them this winter than I did sleeping inside! Next I want to get a Pomoly stove, the OneTigris stove is nice, but doesn't collapse, is stainless steel and weighs +20lbs! @@OneclickOutside Its not a bad tent, but definitely not cottage made though. We didnt get much snow at all here, every storm just missed us....grrrrrr lol. I still have my Superfly hot tarp too but might sell it now that I have the OneT.
You can always reheat pizza in your skillet. Get it hot on the stove and about 2 minutes a slice with the top covered....can toss a little water to help steam melt the cheese.
1.9 PU 3000 nylon. It’s perfect!! Not something you can just wad up like a hammock tarp or tent rainfly, but I like it for heavier winter use. It just makes sense. Nice and taut.
@@OneclickOutside thanks for replying. Sorry for all the questions... Have you ever wished you got the Smokehouse 2 instead? Do you ever think there is not enough room in the Smokehouse 1?
@@leongous No regrets. There’s plenty of room as is under and next to my hammock. All my gear stays on that side and there’s still a lot of space. I think the only benefit of the larger one is if you want to have several people sitting in there at once.
@@OneclickOutside Yes! I get what you mean. It's best not to know what goes bump in the night . I would never want to wish I could unsee something. ( Thank you for your quick responses.)
Didn't like the packer eh? From your last vid I know you were looking for something bigger. Glad the flame is still working for you. Good move putting the pipe out the side but wondering if you could have put it through the short wall instead of the door? Maybe not enough height. Anyway, great video as usual. Looking forward to your next trip. 👍
Yeah definitely not enough height on the side wall at 28” to use a 45° exit. The door works great since all four stake down tight, so I can still use that side (but never do).
Let me correct you. Again, I'm an actor, and singer, I myself get into a lot of trouble with my voice, I dont sound exactly like FRACER ( dont know how to spell that, oh the one time my phone is sleeping, but hey, you have a soothing voice, and I understood all you said.i would love to do this. I slept in Washington sq. Park a couple days, with no tent, just to see. ( that's risky) but the closest to me camping, was in the front yard with my mom looking out the window all night.
Well thanks! As for winter camping, I'm sort of cheating these days with the stove. It's still a lot of work but certainly a lot more comfortable than my old days of hanging in a hammock with just a tarp over the top. I'll need to do a normal backpacking trip this winter just to switch it up.
Did you say your a DJ? OR WORK in radio,? Well. If that's so, your just being hard on yourself, dont you understand NO ONE LIKES to hear there voice the first or couple times. I watch everyone's videos, everyone has there own style.i have to turn the sound down when they use a hand saw, / side note, what the hell is the purpose of a leaf blower, other than waking,me up at the crack of 11am./ really 7am., and on a F'N windy day.??
@@kennetheddy577 no not in radio. That’s actually a small chainsaw. I love it! Plenty big enough for the small amount I need to cut, yet so much easier than a hand saw.
Is that a T1 Ultra? I've got a T Brick Max coming and I can't wait to use it. Pomoly told me not to mix steel and titanium pipes. I need some elbows but I doubt I'll find them in titanium. How did you hook that chimney up? Is it mixed, steel and titanium? I know your elbow is stainless steel. Thanks. Nevermind about that first question you've answered it in the video. They need to make adjustable titanium elbows for their stoves.
Yeah T1 Flame stove. I bought the stainless elbows on Amazon. It was a set a 45° and 90° for $19 - SoloWilder brand. It’s a perfect fit and worked really great. You are so right about the adjustable elbows. Not having a standard 3 inch pipe so you can buy an adjustable elbow at Home Depot really limits how you can set these stoves up. I measured 5 times before positioning and cutting my tent for that new stove jack. With an adjustable elbow it would have been easy. Mixing metals - I believe that has something to do with them seizing up? Definitely not an issue here. I was just talking with my local metal shop about making a larger Ti stove. They looked at me like I was crazy. I really want that T-Brick Ultra but without the side window. I could replace the glass with 304 stainless for about $20. Something to think about…
Good idea to check wind direction before you set-up tent or start a fire. Looks like the smoke is blowing over your tent. If you had turned everything 180° the smoke and sparks wood( lol) be blowing away from your tent verses on it. NOT GOOD...
