The liquid penetrant testing is an effective means for detecting discontinuities of nonporous metals and other materials (glass, metals, , ceramics and plastics) Typical discontinuities are cracks, seams, cold shuts and porosity.
Prior to each Penetrant Testing, the surface and all adjacent areas shall be dry and free of all dirt, grease and other extraneous matter that could obscure surface openings to prevent Interference with the examination.
