  • Erik Ranschaert, MD, PhD studied medicine and radiology at the KU Leuven in Belgium. He obtained his PhD from the University of Antwerp and holds the degree of certified imaging informatics professional (CIIP). He currently works as a radiologist at the ETZ Hospital in Tilburg and is Chief Artificial Intelligence Officer at the radiology dept of the Netherlands Cancer Institute. Dr. Ranschaert is the president of the European Society of Medical Imaging Informatics (EuSoMII). He is chief medical officer for the Diagnose.me platform and has an advisory role at MedicalPHIT and Barco. He is co-editor and author of the book “Artificial Intelligence in Medical Imaging”.
    In this webinar is explained how patient data are protected in Europe by the GDPR, and what the main are with the HIPAA regulation in the US. For what purposes are patient data protected, how is it possible to do research or to develop AI algorithms with patient data, and what should radiologists know about this?
