Thank you for watching, more to come from Surakarta! Also want to mention that I realized I left out an important part when talking about Ramadan and why people fast for a month. It's not just about self-improvement or focusing on your spirituality, but more about thinking of those who are less fortunate and don't have as much as you do. Of course, please add to this or correct me if I'm wrong... Find me on Instagram: Nick_K_Travel Find Dee's Lemonade stand on Instagram: the_lemonologyh and that is to practice empathy for those who are less fortunate.
Actually I'm on my preparation for soft opening for the next day 😂 we are not ready to open yet but Nick was there and wanted our lemonade 😂 I'm in shock
Thank you for the introduction to Solo. Interesting journey and the history narration. Appreciate your time and efforts to film all these journeys in Indonesia. Enjoy your stories so far, Nick. You have a great and lovable personality that goes well with the people of Indonesia. Love your interactions and mingling with the locals. In fact, that's the best way to understand the language, culture, history and way of life of a country. I feel they give a richer dimension and deeper impression than just typical commercial tours to each destination. Keep going...Love it, cheers!
At 24:35 damn Nick, I'm impress. You know some Asia culture very well, Thank you for sharing it. I hope the staff at the Hotel resto saw this video and change the way they serve the chop stick.
Hi L Y Stripes, yes we've told our cashier about the chop sticks. Usually the restaurant server sends the food, I think our cashier wanted to help out because her English is quite good, but maybe got nervous on camera. Next time your at the resto- DM me if there's anything not up to expectations
Surakarta and Jogjakarta is a kingdom that is recognized in Indonesia even though in the republic they still have a king or ruler to this day. and Yogyakarta has special autonomy for the sultan as governor of Jogjakarta

Welcome to Surakarta ..Nick. It's where my ancestors come from. There are 2 palaces in there, Kasunanan and Mangkunegaran. Now the kingdoms are just the symbol of the Javanese culture.
The big wall you overlook on your first sight seeing ner the hotel is The Baluwarti A.K.A King's palace wall. Its kind of fortress that was built around the Royal Palace complex for security reason .
Love to see Nick was helping Indonesian SMEs 🙂, especially when you are promoting their business and they are promoting your channel, hopefully you'll get 100k subs soon Nick.. 👍 Thank you for buying our local products🙏, god bless you😇

In the city of Surakarta there are 2 kingdoms, one is Surakarta Hadiningrat and the other is Pura Mangkunegaran. it is the birthplace of the king of Indonesia and the birthplace of presidents, politicians and businessmen. Surakarta and Jogja used to be the center of Indonesian civilization, even after Indonesia's independence, actually the first state capitals were placed in SURAKARTA AND JOGJA but due to big problems the state capital was moved to Jakarta with former Dutch colonial buildings. ..maybe one day if Jakarta sinks and the capital city is moved to Kalimantan, Indonesia's second civilization center will be moved again to Surakarta because the location of Surakarta is a strategic place and is in the middle of the island of Java and the island of Java is the center of the first human civilization in the world. Many ancient fossils that are hundreds of millions of years old were found there

Solo is a nice small city. Way less hectic and less stressful than bigger cities like Jakarta. It's also close to a lot of destinations like Jogja, Karanganyar (Mt. Lawu), Salatiga, Boyolali, Klaten, etc. Warm people, very small crime rates. Pretty cheap living cost too. It's pretty close to my hometown and I wish to live close by if could land a remote job. Glad you enjoyed your stay Nick!
Jogja and Surakarta kingdom (which were divided by dutch), came from 1 kingdom: Mataram. The first king (national hero) of Mataram was Sultan Agung. enjoy Solo, the spirit of Java. 😊
Nick, the guy from lemonology was just trying to tell you that the royals of the Yogyakarta Sultanate and the Surakarta Sunanates (rather than using the title "Sultan") are related and of the same dynasty. the difference is that Yogyakarta has its territory as an autonomous province of Indonesia. Both of these monarchies are the successors of the Mataram Sultanate (the last major independent kingdom in Java) that existed til 1755.
I've been to Semarang a few times but never had a chance to visit the famous Chinese Temple, Sam Po Kong. I thought you would go there, so I could see it through your video....🤭🤗. Hope I can visit that place one day😉. Thanks anyway for the jalan2 around Semarang....
