I don’t know where you are going with this but here is my 2 cents. I’ve done quite a few 1uz swaps. Everything from 85k to 280k miles on the clock. There’s never been a reason for me to rebuild the motor. No more the replacing all the “soft” gaskets like valvecover, front/rear main seals, can seals etc. the head gaskets never fail so I don’t touch them. All the motors run clean and perfect. The only oil burning is at start up due to the valve stem seals but it’s always very minor and clears up in a few seconds. I never bother to replace them. These motors are perfect for low maintenance swaps and I’ve never had an issue. Can’t wait to see what you are going to drop this in. I hope you choose the IS300 because that’s what I’m going to do to mine.
Its now theyre incredibly reliable but it wont cost much to do bearings and rings while its out, plus it will make for some good content doing an engine rebuild :D
@@mikehannigan848 dunno what your talking about. Someone could have used tap water that will eat the aluminum. Someone could have overheated the crap out of it. Could have been you. Could have been previous owner but someone did something stupid because they don’t just go

Watching this and owning a 98' ls400 has given me more confidence in the life time of the car. 271k miles no check engine light ,no noises coming from under the hood but everyday I worry because I wanna know if theres anything I can fix on the motor or tranny....I love to baby this car
Toyotas run forever! My is300 has 240k and has never really had any problems! If youre not having problems you dont need to fix anything, just keep it maintained and give it good fluids changes and good filters!
I have 2 1UZs, one from a 95 SC400, and another from a 92 LS400. The SC 400 valve covers where not painted, and the LS400 was. Looking at your valve covers it would appear someone mixed up different engines to make that one at some point.

The 1UZFE engine junk? My locksmith worked on one that had 650000 miles here in Maricopa county. Mine has 282000 and not leaking one drop. That engine & cars that had it is the reason Lexus exists today. They are FAA rated, and apparently, the Lexus dealer told me the rings don't go bad.
Toyota spent 1,000,000,000 developing that engine & car, that engine put together by master craftsmen on the finest production line in the world. Its made not to fail. They don't have life expectancy
Kool video👍Question do you or anyone know of any video on youtube with a 1UZFE VVTI with ported heads and kelford cams?? I have seen supercharger video's, but have been looking over and over for ported heads and kelford cam outcomes?
Thank you!! As of now the only upgrades i plan on doing is a stand alone ECU, unless i can find affordable headers i will try to use the stock manifolds, and i dont think ill do cams or anything like that. But we will see
to me they need the fist get bottom end for the big heavy duty connecting rods but not really needed until boost is applied and that just a thing to do wen one is adding ring gap .remember the valves may leak one theses engines need to be adjusted with shims.. like some atv engines i worked on they weir at the valve seat needing loosened up seems backwards but happens all the time .and carbon from egr smog system can stick rings that are still good
These engines always have different colors on the valvecovers, thats just the PCV system. My engine is definitely cleaner at exactly 100k miles, but It doesn't look off for 100k with normal oci's maybe higher phosphorus dino oils considering the valve covers being a little dark. Also the leakdown test was definitely because of oil.
I found that mouse nest in my 1UZ too. I would love to put ITBs on it to get easy access to the starter all the time. Or I'll put a mouse trap in there bevore I mount the intake plenum. 🤣
