Saw this show at Hollywood Bowl. Paid BIG TIME for the seats. Anniversary gift for me and the wife. 'Sledgehammer' was the last encore tune and KILLED. Definitely in my Top 5 best live shows of all time. #1 being Peter Gabriel's 'Shock The Monkey' show at the original Universal Amphitheater. The other three I don't actually remember.
Saw it a few days before in Chicago. First time seeing Gabriel. Absolutely outstanding concert! December before in Chicago, saw Steve Hackett. My Genesis life is complete
@@bscott5965 I forget the chronology. But we also saw the last official GENESIS show at the Hollywood Bowl. (or the Greek Theater?) Amazing show but NOTHING compared to Gabriel/Sting. I'm still surprised there wasn't an official video of that tour.
YES! We were at the last Genesis show as well. Pretty sure it was the Hollywood Bowl. Ironically it started raining and cut their encore short. The show was great. But nothing like the Sting/Gabriel concert. SLEDGEHAMMER was the encore. Mind-blowing. And like you, still wondering why there is no official video. Crikey.
Wow, a friend mentioned seeing these two at a USA gig years ago and now I am witnessing this. Two of my favourites and I did some studio work for PG in 1987-89 plus his 1992 tour and he is a lovely guy. Sting with the Police were a huge influence on me so I am enjoying this big time, thanks. I think I have just spotted Vinnie Colaiuta on drums on the right, wow again.
Love this, they're really having fun up there. That's what its about, music is serious but it can still be fun, even for guys in their mid 60's who've sung these songs thousands of times. Pro's pro right here folks.
The first time I saw Sting perform live was the Symphonicities Tour. I remember thinking, after just a few minutes in to the show, that I had rarely seen someone looking like they were enjoying themselves so much while at work. I saw how much fun he was having and got quite envious of him as I realized this is what he did for a LIVING, and I don't think I have ever been quite the same since. I do know that every tour since that one, I have made it a point to attend, and have been willing to shell out more and more cash for better seats each time. After this show, I just hung around the Bowl after it was over trying to hold onto the experience a little bit longer. I was wondering what would happen if I just walked in to the backstage area and got on a bus or something, or started carrying boxes to load up and stowed away with the tour to leave everything behind and just offer my services to be allowed to be part of that kind of thing. It was a moment of consideration about "running off with the circus" that actually held some real merit.
He's still sounding good. I like the fact he has the confidence to look as he is, instead of wearing a wig like some rock stars. He's cool and brilliant.
blah deblah Not a fan of Sting but he has his capabilities , but he does not really show them here . Peter is giving all he has ( left?) . One of the best . Period.
I was fortunate enough to see this show, but you had better seats than me!! Not gonna complain. This is the fourth time I've seen Sting, and he never ceases to amaze....he sounds and (in a massive understatement) looks great! Never have seen PG; I passed up his last tour in 2012 (oh my...what was I thinking) and I was mightily impressed! This has got to be one of the best concerts I have seen...and I can only hope to be fortunate to see one or both again. Not a bad price for the seats - about par for the course and, again, not gonna complain. Took me almost 3-1/2 hours to drive up to LA and this concert made it worth it!!!
Wish I was there!! I never got to see Peter Gabriel live in Perth, Western Australia, but watched The Police back in 1980. And again in 2008. Great memories!
A friend of mine saw this tour. Said that Sting was always seemingly holding something back (or didn't have it) but Peter destroyed the audience with insane vocal power and presence.
Great to these two having a great time and fun together great track great backing band music like this never dies great pete and sting good show so entertaining
This certainly was a fun tour! I can imagine that those concerts were just amazing… couldn’t you guys tour europe in this setup? It’s very unfair that only the us got to see these concerts… anyway: loved this video! ❤️
I totally grew up loving the shit out of this song and video..and i hate to say it, but live...dave matthews kills this song....knocks it out of the park in a way peter gabriel cant amymore.
So much going on here - Like Peter nearly punching Sting in the face at 1:49 Where can we see the backup singers' GoPro footage of this 4:23 ?! Anyone know if it has been posted somewhere?
Despite his eccentric wardrobe and hairstyle on stage, Peter Gabriel seemed more good-looking in early seventies than Sting in early eighties (I like both Genesis and The Police).
genesis forever Okay, so the audio quality isn’t great, but Gabriel and Sting sound great and the band is pretty kicking. As far as performance goes, Gabriel and Sting both bring their own distinct flavors of cool to the table and they actually feed of each other’s timing and energy very nicely onstage. Certainly makes me wish I was there!
Weird, comparing with 80s concert. Tony Levin has not aged at all (he's sold his soul during King Crimson tenure). And some weird old fat guy in place of Peter. Sting has almost not aged too.
I love that Vinnie Colaiuta has the option to play one of the best songs ever he was not on originally. But Sting, please this is not a gay folk song you're dancing to. More respect please
This choreography has a level of quality that you could only get in the 80s
Pure class. Two absolute legends delivering an absolute classic. Love it.
I love how these guys still sound amazing after all these years
It doesnt get any better than this....... two of the worlds best ......
I love that they are nearly voice twins. I want to see a trio with them and Phil Collins.
I heard a Peter Gabriel song and I swore it was sting…
Peter is more carismatic than Phil
@@bg357wgif You were a real Génesis Fan that wouldn't happen
@@rayn.F.E. never said I was, but thanks, I guess?
Have you seen the video for “I can’t dance”?@@rayn.F.E.
I'm darn disappointed that there has not been an official DVD or CD release from the Rock, Paper, Scissors tour.
no kidding.
Still killing it in 2024!
Peter and Sting! Listen to them sing -and they’re older, what energy too! The back up band, the musicians, singers.... 🇬🇧😃🔨❤️💥
Love seeing Sting like this! Good performance from all!
man peter still sings Amazing for his age. I am 41 and used to stake at the rink and get down to this tune when skating. Loveeeee Sledgehammer
I think you mean you used to SKATE* at the rink, not stake. Reversed your wording there haha
Masters having fun. I enjoy it, too. Very much so! Thanks, Sting and PG! 🎶🖖

Bob Loza I was there and it was a killer show!! Some stranger danced with me to this tune. Tons of fun!

Sting is loving 🥰 it
Agreed. Just noticed his "real" smile at the song's end. btw, I saw this show show live.

Wonderful to hear PG singing what seems to be live, and so well.
Freaking love this !!!
Восхищаюсь!!!! Обожаю!!! Потрясающе!!! BRAVO!!!❤❤❤👏👏👏
I WAS THERE!!! 💖💖💖
My Heroes. Absolute Legends.
He's still sounding good.
I like the fact he has the confidence to look as he is, instead of wearing a wig like some rock stars.

Maravilloso. Que genio Peter Gabriel, junto a Sting y banda.
¡Claro!
Awesome!! Two of my favorite performers.
omg these voices afer all these years
Looks like Peter had some real good company there.Would've loved to see this show.
I would listen to this for Tony Levin alone.
trade 10 stings for one tony levin.
And many katche also
Manu katche also

Vinnie Colaiuta and Ged Lynch are on drums on this one...
Maravilloso. Que genio Peter Gabriel, junto a Sting y banda.
Sting is definetively havin fun!
Sting is definetively havin fun!
I think this is my favorite 80's song.
Nice vid and a good angle so that we get a first row look at their faces as well as their dancing. Love it all.
Sting in great shape for his age...Peter same shape as most regular guys his age.
@Wood Not everyone's vain.
Los amo...

Super show. La experiencia de dos grandes músicos juntos. Quien haya tenido la suerte de estar ahí, que regalazo.
Love the 80s music
The sound is so good. Love all the videos you posted from their concert!
That is what live music is all about.
perfect!😍😍😍
Great to these two having a great time and fun together great track great backing band music like this never dies great pete and sting good show so entertaining
This is brilliant. Well done!
What a song!
Nice to see Sting let loose!
That looks so fun
Brilliant 👍🏻
hell yeah
❤️
I luv the strut with Dominic!
He’s not shy anymore...
Time to pray to the quality music demons that they release a full album together.
Sting definitely stole wardrobe from set of Dune

Looks like Pete has had too many sweets gotta luv those Brits & their sweets
@Scott Stings in good shape cuz he's full of himself...where Pete is down to earth and dosen't give a shit.
Greatest MTV video ever 😂

This video needs more comments. Here's mine. Who's next? (Also, this was so much fun!)
1:25 / 1:30.. did he dance some Michael Jackson moves lol... gotta love Sting uhhh, Sting and Peter, what a fine fine combo....on this great song.
Despite his eccentric wardrobe and hairstyle on stage, Peter Gabriel seemed more good-looking in early seventies than Sting in early eighties (I like both Genesis and The Police).
I thought they were both good-looking in the 80s, but I had a huge crush on Sting. Sting looks 1000x better than Peter Gabriel now.
Weird that one of the backstage singers is doing a selfie video in the middle of the show...LOL
Why is the background singer using a selfie stick?
They are Sting and Peter Gabriel because the name Peter and Gordon has already been taken.
Selfie Stick Sarah, that's what we'll call her...
-Morgan Freeman
Sting doesnt spoil anything :-)
Who and how is doing the flute piece?
Keyboards
Backup blonde chick on the right is smokin!
It's Jo Lawry www.jolawry.net/media
what is this song really about?
There's only one Peter gabriel
I like(d) more the flower power times when the performers wasn't all in black.
Walter White on bass at 1:34
What's that thing the middle background singer is holding?
It's a GoPro camera.
GOOD GOD!!!! :(

There's only one sting
That Vinnie playing in the darkness?
Yeah!
Someone should have taken the sledgehammer to Peter every time he reached in the cookie jar

Tony here a long time ago

Sting sings well, but his dancing a little awkward?
@D T Cuz he can't dance. 🤣
Sting actually looks much younger than Peter
yeah! Peter is only 1yrs older than Sting yet Sting looks considerably younger.
@@swifty1969 it's because Peter is fat and bald
Is that fucking Sting?
It's illegal to have so much fun on stage. Someone call the police. Oh crap...
I don't think Peter could fit into that Red dress anymore.
What happened to PG ? He used to be slim and now he looks like a bag of spuds
Who's that man who ate Peter Gabriel? LOL
Wow. Fat joke. Classy /s
Why do these big names always dress like they just walked in from skid row?
I love that Vinnie Colaiuta has the option to play one of the best songs ever he was not on originally.
But Sting, please this is not a gay folk song you're dancing to.
More respect please
me gusta más Sledgehammer Peter Gabriel junto a Paula Cole.
Heavy use of sequences, no live horns? Smh
It doesent fit as much as I hoped...... Fun - yes - but thats it - nothing else. Sorry-Peter- do your own thing! Pleeeeeace ....
Sting can't dance for his life.
Sting needs to go away
Sting is out of the context . Petty...Nevertheless nice show
