Gods country mate. Used to swim there as a kid and further up the river. Should’ve ventured up to the best take away shop in Sydney. The Macquarie fields neighbourhood store
I second this Steven, deadset the best take away store in the country. They even sell goggles if you leave yours at home for when you're going for a quick dip in Simmos.
@@stevenblack6647 the hamburgers there are absolutely divine. I must say I try to eat there once a week, it's a fantastic feed and with a fantastic price tag. It gets expensive with 5 kids and a wife to feed.
You are indeed correct! It would be interesting to see if water is flowing over the Ingleburn weir. If it's stopped there then the river indeed is suffering due to a lack of water.
That platform you seen at the 10 minute mark I’m pretty sure that’s where the flying fox use to be. I spent a lot of time down there on my dirt bikes. My mates great grandfather owned it and from what he told me it was taken off him because he was illegally dredging sand
A flying fox, I see! Now that's interesting. Is that right? I remember reading that Simmos beach was named after a fellow who owned nearby land and also quarried sand (and sandstone?) from the beach there. Coincidence? Great story !
Fresh water you are not gonna find any flathead mainly eels Bass and carp. One of my mates use to fish there and reckons he caught some really big fish
@ Killing ground it was made in 2016 warning it is a horror movie 🥺 I’m glad they never made it years ago as teenagers we use to use to have get together down there doing what kids normally do at nights 😂😂 well before computers and mobile phones
@@graemeperrett7545 True, that's cool, though after looking I'm not too keen to watch it hahaha, horror not for me you see. Thanks for the info though!
@@DanVenturesOut I’m the same but had to as kids spent a bit of time down there. I use to live in Long point the river run behind the property it’s only a couple kilometres before simmos there was a mad swimming hole down there and the water is so clear and I know thats hard to believe when you see the colour of Simmo’s. it was a great spot because the only people that could get down there was people that lived on that side of the street. If you want to the end of Wills Rd and turned right there is a fire trial that runs down into the bush to the river it’s really nice down there because it’s basically not touched down there and you can actually get to simmo’s from there. We use to ride our bikes from there to simmo’s it’s probably a little far to walk because if you have a look at the river on a map it runs in a big s shape before it gets to Simmo’s. It’s been around 25 years since I have been down there and at the end of the street down to the river it’s a big hill not that much of a problem but it will take it out of you walking back up.
@@graemeperrett7545 Hahaha you're a brave soul, respect. Interesting story! I've actually looked at long point for a future vid as its also close to ingleburn weir, so appreciate the info about it, especially the directions to a clear swimming hole! you are right, id hardly believe that! sounds like a decent trek, might be one for a cool overcast day :)

@@DaneOk-t3y yes mate, it’s a great little pit stop on your way to the beach to pick up things you may have forgotten or to feel the kids belly’s.

I use to go there as a kid..Great place to visit, recomend to all.
So cool! it was a definitely a great place!
The Georges River is tidal downstream from the weir at Liverpool. Where you were. the water only flows one way.
Ahhh i see, that makes a lot of sense, Thanks for the info!!
@@DanVenturesOut I should also have given you an Official Teddy the Wonder Lizard thumbs up for your content . . . but forgot. Sorry mate.

Grew up in the area as a young kid , our go to swimming spot in summer .
Good stuff, it seems a decent place for a swim.
I remember in the late 90s, there was a poor little kid that drowned there...
A 6 year old thrown into the water by a 10 year old .
Oh no, thats not good to hear...

Geoges River is only tidal up to Liverpool wier
Yep! I now know this! I've even done a video about it :) ruclips.net/video/6ZeI8ULo0Aw/видео.html
They made a movie at simmos about 10 years ago now.
Oh really? That is awesome! Can you tell us which it is?
