- Shouts out to the homie Jaden for lending me his Akai AX80! Super fun to play with a real synthesizer instead of just VSTs.

The main types of synthesis are subtractive, fm (frequency modulation), additive, granular, and physical modeling. The yamaha dx 7 is an fm synth with 6 operators (an oscillator with its own adsr envelope). The dx7 is completely digital. Your synth is an analogue (not digital) subtractive synth. So they are pretty much apples and oranges to each other. Still both are fruit!
@@bupkis7505 sounds like I have a lot of research to do lol
Very cool channel. I’m glad RUclips suggested it to me. Akai is amazing. Have a good time with it
Glad you enjoyed !
Lucky dog! I’m repairing my AX-80 at the moment. Hope you’re aware of the Tauntek Mod. It’s $30 or so, and it gives you full midi implementation. Control multiple parameters at the same time with midi sliders or knobs connected directly to it. Like a JX8P or JX3P editor. Can map all the parameters to a midi controller, so you may be able to get around buttons not working. The synth can do wild stuff. It’s specs are powerful and somewhat unique. Happy to see more love for the beautiful AX80
Dude that sounds super sick, the guy who’s lending it to me mentioned the Tauntek mod but I wasn’t aware of what it did
My first analog synth was also the AX-80… but it was in 1987!
It stands the test of time!
