Great comment. There is only one agenda with the SNP....independence at any price. Had Scotland voted to leave the UK then they would also have also voted to leave the EU and, given Scotland's inherent fiscal budget deficit without the Barnett Formula, it would be next to impossible to rejoin without back breaking austerity.
The truth of the matter is that the question of EU membership is a convenient lever to agitate difference and irritation with Scotland's nearest neighbour. The SNP like to present Scotland as a single entity with one voice. The truth of course is that 40% of Scots voted for Brexit and 30% of Scots voted Tory at the 2019 elections. What they cannot accept is that a plumber from Dundee has more in common with a sparky from Liverpool than a lawyer from Edinburgh and that lawyer from Edinburgh will have more in common with an accountant from London than a fishermen from Arbroath.

The SNP can’t even run their own party finances without someone dipping their hands in the till. Why should they be trusted again? They’ve failed to grow the Scottish economy since they’ve been in power, a bit like the tories at Westminster who have succeeded in shrinking the UK economy. We need change north and south of the border, and it’s all about the economy. If people want security then we need to engage in more trade deals, and we need to start with our closest partners in Europe. If Labour negotiate better deals then we can improve the economy and then people will know what the best deal outside of the EU gives us. Then a real debate about our future can begin.

At the time of this interview the polls had the SNP winning 20 seats. If Swinney had known they would only win 10 seats his jaw would have hit the floor.
Apparently leaving the EU has been "an unmitigated disaster" for Scotland and yet a 2014 "yes" vote would have taken Scotland OUT of the EU. Go figure.
Swinney and his mates took for ever to raise taxation in Scotland above those elsewhere in the UK and refuse to raise them still further. What they want is for Westminster to raise taxes for the whole of the UK so that the English taxpayer can pay even more for greater public spending in Scotland.
