- Puppies love to chew and sometimes they may chew on something other than their bones and toys. In that case, you need to fix that. In my case, my seven-month-old Beagle puppy decided to have a nice snack on my wooden chair's stretcher beam. The damage carved out a divot at least an eighth of an inch deep at its deepest part. I ended up using a paintable, stainable, and sandable wood filler that was able to fill in the hole perfectly to the point where it looked as if the chair had never had a scratch on it. After staining it and spraying on a clear coat of enamel, the stretcher shined to the same degree as the rest of the chair.
Here are the products I used:
DAP Plastic Wood Color Changing Wood Filler: amzn.to/3gnbYjR
Assorted Sandpaper Pack: amzn.to/3gh21UV
Valthane Wood Stain, Kona: amzn.to/2A8efyn
Krylon Triple Thick Clear Glaze: amzn.to/2zfiEzO - Хобби
Omg thank you so much for this video. My puppy has bite marks on every chair. Life saver ❤
Thanks! Great straightforward tutorial. Got a puppy a few months ago and he chewed the hell out of my center table. 😅
Pretty much what i was thinking to do but it’s nice to have the confirmation. Nice video!
Thank you so much for posting this tutorial! My 8 month old puppy just chewed up one of the chairs of our new (only 3 days after being delivered) dining set! Now I know we can repair it ourselves. I'm also going to buy an anti-chew spray to deter our puppy from chewing them again. I'm glad you know what we went thru and shared your knowledge on how to repair it! 😊
Thanks for the video. My beagle did the same. We ended up getting a metal coffee table afterwards but kept the old coffee table because we knew we'd end up moving and would need it.
I'm glad that this helped!
Thank you so much
Thank you so much for this!
This was super helpful, thank you for making this video! My dog has chewed on my parents' mahogany dining room chairs, and I want to make it up to them by repairing the chair legs 🤣
I'm glad this helped!
Thanks so much I'm doing my own chairs my puppy ate two chairs and I paid 1500 for dining room set who has money to throw the chairs in the trash the DIY job looked awesome!!!
Thank you! And I Agree, the repair looks good and doesn't cost the price of a new chair. No need to fret, this fix will make your furniture look back to normal in a matter of days. It just takes some patients, thats all.
awesome video thank you so much!
You're very welcome!
Thanks.
Great video! Going to give it a try. Thanks for creating!
That came out great. My dog ate the whole leg off my kitchen chair.
My cat just did this!!! Yes cat
thank uu so much my mom is planning to give away my dog because he does this and I needed a a way to cover up the bite marks
Oh no! Can't give away the pup! Hopefully this helps! Gotta give him some bones to keep him busy.
Would this work for cabinet door or coffee table corners?
Yes, this should work for anything wooden that a dog has chewed up. Again, this method may take some time depending on where the damage occurs. In the video, the dowel was an easy repair to make unnoticeable. A more complex wooden area, with ridges and designs will be harder, but totally doable if determined. Thanks!
Can I use this for table top deep scratches? If so, what is the spray glaze? I don't really want to spray something sticky on the tabletop. Do u have a suggestion? Thanks so much
Im sure you can fill in scratches on the table top. As for finishes, I am not sure what would work best.
This is the price for owning a Pembroke Welsh Corgi puppy... and it's totally worth it.
was that filler stainable? I used kwik wood and the stain wouldn't take. I had to use color pens
Make sure to use a stainable filler, otherwise you may have trouble. Color pens will work if you end up using non-stainable wood filler.
You painted rhe whole piece I can't paint my whole queen size headboard
Thousands of lifetime projects with Woodglut plans.
You must not be married because it looks like you were using a butter knife for the putty. That would get most guys in big trouble.... LOL
I did it myself with the Woodglut plans. I think this is the best way to find out how to build it.
I hope this helped!
I recommend checking out these plans. I am a woodglut customer and I am very happy with the plans they offer
