Im thinking of adding this to the nose of a new AR Wing Pro im working on... Its lighter than a go pro so should be able to still build it within weight limits. Im thinking of using it with the moonlight vcr/vtx. is the cable correct for the moonlight 4k camera and would that camera fit. also how much cable hangs out the back of the unit for getting the vtx up and in the airflow. can you show more of the settings and modes it works with. on a plane you wouldnt want it cancelling out roll, pitch and yaw as you fly... smooth it perhaps yes but not cancel it out.
Pretty interesting little device indeed, Lee! Awesome review! 😃 It's great to see things like this coming to the market! Stay safe there with your family! 🖖😊
I understand that it's a tall order, considering the issue of cable routing, but a similar gimbal, but with universal connections would be great. Hope to see more and smaller gimbals! 👍
I wonder how this could be implemented on my FPV rigs.... I see the pottencial.... maybe for autonomous flight models.... Ill be buying one soon for testing it. Thanks for the review man!
Very much a newbie question, I know, but could this be used with an old version of the FPV DJI Air unit with its hd camera? Just putting it between the Air unit and the camera? And could this setup then work with head tracking of the Integra headset?
How does this gimbal handle being inverted while in use? I'd hope loops and rolls would be possible while using this. Its been an issue with other gimbals I've used
Another q would be how fast does this gimbal respond to rc input. Storm32 brushless gimbals can be a bit slow for head tracking. They feel laggy and unnatural.
I've had a lot of sucess building brushless gimbals for fpv camera. 100% agree it's a steep learning curve. Interested to see how this unit works out. Price is pretty good imo
almost there. I wonder if you could mod this to a forward facing 2 axis application for the nose of a slightly larger plane, or, if they might want to develop something lightweight for such a scenario
Do you think they aligned it to give you more up because down would put more of the gimble itself in the shot. This way you get the most usable range as up the gimble is never in shot.
Meant to be underneath a quad/heli/wing, not as cockpit video. Now,.. putting it inside a housing and under the nose of an EDF powered Global Hawk, and using it to downlink video from news events,... what a fun way to freak people out!! 😂
This would be fantastic on a crawler or other land vehicle. One of the biggest issue with them is how uncomfortable they are to drive as every little bump in the road is magnified through the FPV camera. With a gimbal like this it would make driving them much more pleasant. Would love to try one in a crawler cockpit.
I'm building out a carbon fibre board to rig this up on that fits on my car chassis here to test it with, should be interesting to see how it performs... Stay tuned!
How hot does the PWM servos get? and how strong are they compared to regular 9g servos? seems like they are build into the device and if the gears strip or make of plastics it would be hard to realign as 150 is not cheap to replace.
It comes with the wire from the Air Unit to the camera 'built in' and is designed to be balanced with the camera installed so it isn't ideal for that...
Very cool. Looking forward to seeing your test results in an rc car. Not just, does it perform as expected. But what can it handle, I have analog fpv on my car. Pavement is pretty good, but no matter how smooth you think the lawn is, it ain't. Can this gimbal handle more than just crawling along on bumpy terrain? Happy flying everyone. 😎
This would be amazing to integrate with head tracking from HDzero eco camera. How difficult do you suspect this would be to integrate with head tracking?
It does allow tilt axis control. Its the roll axis it doesn't directly support. That is odd as it has three motors for potentially all three axis control. I really want roll control as I've had 2-axis pan/tilt for so long. Maybe this can be supported via firmware upgrade and then using the S.Bus input option as there are not enough PWM inputs for roll axis.
I have just ordered one. Ive just about used up all my PWM ports on my FC. Can you advise, if I use one of the FC serial ports on sport protocol (arduplane) and connect it to the gimbal sport, then it will see them in the same way as if connected to PWM. Do we have news on mavlink progress. Check out my last vid if you want a retractable gimbal.
This looks like CADDXFPV GM3. It may come from the same manufacture selling to different brands. XF-C20-T is another one looks just like these. They all appear to have similar functions. However, CADDXFPV GM3 manual has PWM 1 for gimbal mode selection where HEQ doesn't. Thanks for the review.
Could this be used for the older DJI system? Like with a Vista? You make it sound like it's just a matter of the camera connector cable? EDIT: I see a similar question below - the O3 cables are not the same as the older MIPI. But I guess it could be replaced.
The cable is part of the gimbal and it appears that the 03 camera cable is specific for the 03 air unit.. DJI are not known for maintaining compatability with their products so not a surprise... Happy flying
Can u put out a wireing diagram for head tracking and a general diagram as you know the video's are a bit goofie from the site I have this gimble and I also have a head tracker it's the BKRC tracker very simple plug and play kinda thing thanksnin advanced although nobody ever really responds or helps that much all I can do is try
Could you use the Dji sbus receiver built into the air unit or should I hook it up to an elrs unit with new sbus firmware? Edit: also thanks for the video I have been looking at this exact gimbal hoping for a review and you have answered my prayers
Very fascinating. Thanks for the early peek and heads up. Hoping they will also support Caddx Link / RunCam Link systems. (too bad there is not a standard HD link between HD cameras and VTx modules ... a hint to Caddx, RunCam, DJI, etc) Like they are working on adding support for MavLink as well. Some interesting possibles with this kit, both on vehicles, or as a ground-based POV tracking system.
Too expensive for now. I remember times of Zenmuse gimbals for Phantom. 10 years spent since it. There are few gimbals with a camera for same price. I think 75 bucks will be great.
Hi Lee, Great video and review of G-port gimbal, I have headtracker on my plane, but it's not perfect. I would like a system to help with the video. Thanks for the video and information about this gimbal.
Are You going to get mad at me if I tell you, I did build such a small gimbal, maybe even smaller, around 8 years ago? Of course it didn't have the walksnail/DJI connectability , but did everything else plus also had Yaw control . I have the time stamps on my facebook album to back up what i'm saying. Back in the days I was amazed by these things and build an insane ammout of gimbals. Nothing to it, I thought you might like to know that there are actually pretty easy ways to build such tiny gimbals.
If you're flying wings in a wind, it's better to have all three. Not sure it will work well on a wing with speeds 70-100 kmh... Interesting device but want to see some tests.
interesting piece. I agree that may be a banger, upside down. Mounted below a model. A few years of fighting after my keyboard... Damn it ! 😅 The reliability of a G213 from Logitech is awfull. It took me so much time to comment and correct...
76 grams is light .. but its out of my price range .. however .. if your invested in DJI video this set up is all part of transmitting a stabile live image .. cheers !! FLASH SALE Banggood 150 USD
I have been battling with this gimbal four days, I can't get it to work right with my x20 radio. No matter how much I tune curves, it will not function in a predictable manner. I would not recommend anyone spend any money on this thing.
Buzzing/Vibration on desk with no camera, the gimbal head is unbalance mechanically - once the camera is mounted, with the gimbal switched off, it should remain in any place where it's pushed to. Once it's got the right mass to balance it, it should be silent and not vibrate.
Agreed, the weight of the camera in the gimbal is very small when compared to those designed for heavy cameras like the GoPro style. The roll axis isn't balanced, even with a camera in it, as the stepper is on one side of the mount only.. Stay tuned to see it in action as I'm building the carbon fibre mount for it on the car...
I want to see more of this product, thank you Painless!!

hi any suggestions - what are the ardupilot parameters to connect via sbus to pixhawk?
I wonder how this could be implemented on my FPV rigs.... I see the pottencial.... maybe for autonomous flight models.... Ill be buying one soon for testing it. Thanks for the review man!

It appears that the 03 to camera cable isn't the same as the ones used with the previous DJI air units, so no... Happy flying
Would wonder if one of the cabling variants are compatible with MIPI CSI to use e.g. RPI Cameras with Wfb-ng?
How does this gimbal handle being inverted while in use? I'd hope loops and rolls would be possible while using this. Its been an issue with other gimbals I've used
Is it possible to retrofit an analog fpv camera to this?
Another q would be how fast does this gimbal respond to rc input. Storm32 brushless gimbals can be a bit slow for head tracking. They feel laggy and unnatural.

They are listening to the ideas, so maybe!

I'm still looking for something even smaller that fits inside a dome for protection in crashes or tight spaces.
This would be fantastic on a crawler or other land vehicle. Hoping to see the release of the Walksnail HDMI VTX to use the Siyi A8 mini as it would be a similar option.
How hot does the PWM servos get? and how strong are they compared to regular 9g servos? seems like they are build into the device and if the gears strip or make of plastics it would be hard to realign as 150 is not cheap to replace.
This thing isn't using servos, it's using tiny stepper motors.... Happy flying
Any idea if this will work with a runcam split-h?
It comes with the wire from the Air Unit to the camera 'built in' and is designed to be balanced with the camera installed so it isn't ideal for that...

I wonder if head tracking with dji would work with this?
Should do.. Happy flying
Can it be mounted facing to the right or left, as mounted to the nose of a plane pointing forwards?
Not with the current firmware.... Happy flying
This would be amazing to integrate with head tracking from HDzero eco camera. How difficult do you suspect this would be to integrate with head tracking?
Very simple, see my videos using it. However, it only has a Walksnail or dji option as standard... Best of luck
I really hope theres a way to control tilt in the future! It would be really helpful on plane setups
It does allow tilt axis control. Its the roll axis it doesn't directly support. That is odd as it has three motors for potentially all three axis control.

Nothing on MAVLINK support yet.... I'll share when I hear.

EDIT: I see a similar question below - the O3 cables are not the same as the older MIPI. But I guess it could be replaced.
I imagine that DJI is applying the usual pressure to the vendor to only support (and make modern products for) the 03 Air Unit...
can the caddx unit version be used with the caddx air unit lite (DJI 01)?
The cable is part of the gimbal and it appears that the 03 camera cable is specific for the 03 air unit.. DJI are not known for maintaining compatability with their products so not a surprise... Happy flying
following how it perform on rc car thanks
What about caddxfpv - is the flat cable the same?
Caddx = Walksnail for this unit... Happy flying
Great video and interesting gimbal.
When paired with the DJI O3 camera would it be possible to control up and down with the dial on a DJI remote?
Possibly, using the SBUS connection... Happy flying
There is a set of gimbal suitable for DJI O3 on Amazon, which is cheaper. Buy it here: www.amazon.com/dp/B0D7Q5M29N?ref=myi_title_dp

DJI has no interest in creating a standard with other vendors. That's not their business model... Happy flying
and how we can control it with crossfire ?
See how I set it up in the video where I popped it on an RC car (link in video description). You'll need some PWM signals.
Too expensive for now. I remember times of Zenmuse gimbals for Phantom. 10 years spent since it. There are few gimbals with a camera for same price. I think 75 bucks will be great.

Было бы неплохо, если сделали контроллер цифрового зума. Между камерой и юнитом. Тогда была бы великая вещь, с хорошим спросом.
Too bad you can't disable the stabilization or go to a damping only mode. Stabilized Pitch and roll is a problem for acrobatics, like an FPV warbird.
If head tracking can be set up with Walksnail's GoggleX I'd buy one
Headtracking for the Goggle X is in the works... Stay tuned...
Remove the 3rd option to stabilise tilt, just leave pan and yaw and you could make it more compact by a lot.
If you're flying wings in a wind, it's better to have all three. Not sure it will work well on a wing with speeds 70-100 kmh... Interesting device but want to see some tests.
Thenks for info

Works fine here using an EdgeTX powered MT12. See my demo video. Best of luck
They need to update the firmware to allow it to be used as a 3-axis head tracking gimbal. I'll have no use for it until that happens.
You can now, firmware already updated - see my video demo of it on an R/C car ;)
