Old guitar players were young before they got older .😏😉
I agree 👍🏾 🙆🏻♀️ 😊
He is my age, and our era of music when we were young was phenomenal! 😊
Old is relative. Nobody knows when 💀 will call their name.
Ah, such words of wisdom?
This guy could easily pass for an inverted version of Inspector Morse on a Special Night Out , ha! He could have awakened him from one of his Mozart SLUMPS ? PRODUCERS ? Get busy with some computer magic and see what I'm a talkin' about. You got a really great PERSONA to work with here and the guitar ain't bad neither! (" Morse Goes Rogue ?") Ha.
Most of the time
💪💪💪👍
He comes out talking like Anthony Hopkins and leaves after playing like Angus Young! The look on Simon's face when he pull out the ax is priceless. Amazing! I and thought I was doing great still riding motorcycles at 70!
At 64, he would have been in his late teens, early 20s at exactly the time Led Zeppelin, AC/DC, Deep Purple etc. were at their height. This *is* his kind of music.🤘🤘
It sure is! I am the same age.
'WHAT DO YOU WANT TO DO WITH YOUR LIFE?!..."
Exactly!!! You should have seen us! We knew how to ROCK and we're no where near dead yet.
exactly!! Rock & Roll forever!
Love it! Playing 🎸 myself 😊
Well not only can he shred a guitar but his smile just makes me happy! His energy is contagious! I only wish I could play a guitar that good!! And may I also say a mighty handsome 64-year-old man! That smile on his face just kills me. 😲🥰❤️❤️😘
My husband was a blues/rock drummer. The only reason he stopped (at age 70) is because he has moved on to play with the most amazing band in heaven. Rock on Ricky.
I’m so sorry for your loss.
Bet he was a really cool guy. Xox
😍💔 So sorry for your loss, he sounds an amazing man luv'n'hugs 🫂
Darling I'm so sorry for your loss. I bet he was a great husband to you. May he rest in eternal peace.
❤️❤️
What do they think us older rockers look like? There's a whole generation out here still rocking. This guy is in the upper echelon because arthritis hasn't got him yet! Rock on 🤟🤟🤟🤟
Amen to that!! 👍🏼
Reminded me of an incident years ago, a great looking young man boarded the street car in Tornto. Sat down beside an older lady who said" young man, you are so handsome, you should be in movies but you smoke to much ( he did smell like 100 cigarettes) and then another older lady remarked, "I was gorgeous too when I was young" and people started laughing. Just so you know the lady that made that remark was in her 60's and you could tell she really must have been really pretty when she was younger
They expect us rockers to look how Aerosmith looks
@@tobyjohnmedicinehorse8784 Lol
I love surprising people 🤣
He's obviously from the era of hard rock metal and still has it!!
70’s rock will never die. The greatest era of rock that will never be close to being repeated. Never!
So true.
Yes, but "Inspector Morse", unfortunately did; This guy could easily pass for an inverted version of Inspector Morse on a Special Night Out , ha! @@lyndafaye6748 wtf are you babbling about? Just stop lol.
@@lyndafaye6748 WHAT!?
The best decade of Rock yeah
He's still 30 on the inside, only your body gets older, your heart and soul is forever young. This is a message to all the 30yr old people on this beautiful earth. Remember to respect old age... if you're lucky you will get there.
I'm 68- I don't think of myself as "old"!
Exactly ! I'm still in my 20's inside but I'm 60. I rip it up on my guitars 4-5 days a week if I'm feeling ok enough. Judas Priest, Kiss, Aerosmith , Van Halen.... you get the picture. I look like some old decrepit guy, but before looked like a Geddy Lee/ Robert Plant mashup back around '78-84. If people told me my body betrays you and deterioration is rapid, but you stay yourself inside as when you were young It wouldn't have made any sense anyway . Same person, just with way more awareness and sense now. :)
AH how good was that, at first I thought look at this old guy then realized oh I’m that age. Great to see you still rocking.
God Bless this man!!! I'm 38 and still feel young and this man only shows me that it doesn't matter the age it's the mentality that keeps you young.
Just utterly brilliant! Some good band sign him up quick !
He is in a band already; Mr. Spankey and The Hip Thrusters!!
AND PRODUCERS of the Inspector Morse series; This guy can act and is a "live" ringer for Inspector Morse too.
I don't think Fred Gold is referring to unique performers such as this, when he says "some of those younger players are pretty good!"
Send this to the BBC and see that I get my royalties, will ya ? Surely we can find some of " them old British producers ?"

I don't know why they're surprised. He comes from the era of the "Gods of rock!"
Perfectly right. He is 14 years younger than Keith Richards.
Totally agree
Spot on!
He just doesn't look like a rock God.
Just curious as to what you all consider the Era of God's of Rock? 60s 70s 80s? Exactly what time in history? Thanks!
One of my favorite auditions Hands Down. The smile and pure joy on his face combined with the rock n roll shredding = shear performance perfection
So glad you said that! I was thinking "Look @ this. The crowd & the approval caught him up rt away. But by the time he starts moving w/his instrument you can see him just light up from the inside. From that point on, it's just him & his guitar & you can see the pure JOY that it gives him...".
That's the love of his life, rt there. Everyone should try & find that sort of passion in their lives. It's like an extra heart that keeps you going.
Reminds me of Eddie 🥹
@@Yusuf_Sc If you're referring to the pure joy and comfort on his face while playing, I agree. ;)
What's the name of the second song ?
That's what happens when you DON'T take the fast route.......you end up a master . 🎼🎸🤘🤘🎸 Rock on King Kenny 👍
Kenny is NOT OLD, Kenny is like a fine Wine just gets better with age! Great job Kenny.
As a woman approaching 70 this year - damn skippy he's NOT OLD! My generation isn't about to go out quietly. I can still dance circles around the majority of people, regardless of their age.
Laying on a bit thick there. Of course he's not old he's only 64.
😅😁🤣🇹🇿
@@ब्रह्मन-ष1स ... yes, but in developed nations the average is higher so he might have another 20 - 30 years,
I wish I was like that. He is aging like fine wine. I am aging like milk.
He makes it look too easy... Rock on Kenny!!
Kenny aka "The Reverend" is the guitarist with our local band in Essex called Mr Spankey and The Hipthrusters. The man is a genius guitar god & a fantastic bloke. 🙌 🙌
Have wanted to see Mr. Spanky for years... being in Texas has kinda been holding me back! But, I will make it next year if he's not skyrocketed into superstardom by then. :)
What a nice gentle voice..lovely man 🫂 🤗 👐 blessings guitarist of the Gods 🎸
From Canada, Blessings
Wow. So cool with his guitar skills
Thanks for sharing that ❤.
This man ain't got talent, he's a professional. Amazing!🎉
Ha ha, maybe. He didn't start playing at 63 that's for sure!
He has the soul of a true born to it rocker and God bless him for it!
There are a ton of guitar players around still his age and even older that could do the same thing. This cat probably played a lot of rock and metal in bands in the 70's and 80's.
Now THAT'S WHAT i'm talkin' 'bout!!👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾 You, ROCK!!👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
Some rock band is looking for Kenny right now, he was phenomenal!
He plays for Mr spankey and the hip thrusters played at my local last night

All of the notes were clear. Not muddled up. Can really play! Awesome 👍

I know, they act like he's an old man, probably been playing his whole life , grew up with this music
ABSOLUTELY
I'm right there with you
Damn right!!
@David Ledford Who me? Yes, I play the piano.
@David Ledford piano and used to play drums, but never in a band. I did sing a lot though.
So, who SAYS, "Your momma can't dance and your daddy don't Rock-and-Roll"?!
All the best guitarists come from the sixties and seventies when rock bands were common. They're rare these days.
He is the best for me, so much feeling and agility. God bless him!
He is clearly a very talented guitarist that could have been part of a continued legacy and success of the mega rock bands of Great Britain. How did he not make it big back then?
Because there is more about being a touring musician than just shredding licks.
I don’t think he’s been playing that long
Jealous? Much?
Probably a top session man for some big bands
He plays others' music. If he would perform original songs, he would attract attention.
Beautiful guitar and an awesome 64 year old shredder.
Suhr, worth about 5K USD at least.

impressive skills but, he is rouglhy the same age as most the greats (younger actually) The Rock Gods have all aged in the last 30-40 years with no one to replace them.
Such a sweet audition! The guy was fantastic but even more he LOVED performing!!
Been following this guy for a while…. Absolutely kick ass guitarist 😎👍🎶

I'm in love with Kenny Petrie. Straight up.
Badass grandpa! Play those licks sir!
Why the surprise ? The Rolling Stones are still on tour.
Never too old to rock !!

Really shouldn't be surprised - lets' face it, he's comfortably younger than Keith Richards, Francis Rossi, Eric Clapton, Brian May, Carlos Santana and countless others who still rock.

His smile reminds me of Sir Anthony Hopkins! Great performance!
I mean 64 isn’t that old. He kinda acts like and is treated by the judges like he’s 84.
Still talented tho
Yeah, they act like he's 100 freakin years old or something. Those judges aren't far behind him, especially Simon. And how is it shocking that a 64 year old man can be good at rock guitar? His generation invented that music.
Yeah I noticed that. Cultural thing in countries like the UK, where older people are treated condescendingly and like they're cute. When are we going to recognise the wisdom and power of age!
Simon Cowell is 62 years old lol

Just think, realize this man Kenny Petrie if 64 years old in 2022, was born 1958, perhaps later in 1957: How old are Paul McCartney, Bob Dylan, Jimmy Page, Eric Clapton, Jeff Beck, Peter Frampton, Ozzie Ozbourne, David Gilmore, Roger Waters [despicable, disgusting, inhuman being], Paul Simon, Art Garfunkel, Ringo Star, Peter Gabriel, Phil Collins, Mike Rutherford, Steve Howe, Rick Wakeman, Kieth Emerson, Bruce Springsteen, Billy Joel, Mark Knopfler, Charlie Daniels, Neil Giraldo [& Pat Benatar], Tom Scholz [& Boston Band]f, KISS [Paul Stanley, Gene Simmons, Ace Frehley, Peter Criss] Queen [Freddie Mercury (passed), Brian May, Roger Taylor], Styx [Dennis DeYoung, Tommy Shaw, John Curulewski, etc.] Fleetwood Mac [Peter Green, Mick Fleetwood, Jeremy Spencer, Bob Brunning, Christine McVie, John McVie, Stevie Nicks, Lindsey Buckingham], Kansas [Rich Williams, Phil Ehart, Billy Greer, Ronnie Platt, Tom Brislin, Joe Deninzon], Eagles [Don Henley, Glenn Frey (passed), Bernie Leadon, and Randy Meisner (passed), Don Felder, Joe Walsh, Timothy B. Schmit ], David Coverdale, Bryan Adams [and Simon Cowell (born 1959) (also David Walliams, Howie Mandel, Howard Stern, Sharon Ozbourne, Piers Morgan, Wolfman Jack, etc.)] and all each, every, all of the members within each band from the 1960's, 1970's, 1980's ?
Thus Kenny is among the youngsters to middle teens born during the "Age of RockNRoll - Metal" (as Simon, David (and myself - born mid-1959 too).

Just amazing how relaxed and how clean his playing was. I would love to know how far he went on the show and would Love to hear his next "Audition" as he made it through this round. I was lucky enough to experience both the 70's and 80's Rock Scene growing up in the L.A. area and even being a small part of it when catering some Music Video's. Favorite Music Video I Catered. Poisons, Unskinny Bop. Longs hours, but great fun and the Band, (especially Brett Michaels) were friendly for the most part, keeping in mind they were working 16 hours days/Nights.
