I love the look of the dappled light through the cardboard cutouts, wonder what gauze or Thule would do to diffuse some of the harshness? Would also like to see what a small flash/reflector could do to soften some background shadows. Beautiful results, I’m going to have to try this myself.

Great video, that card board cutout idea is exactly what i planned on doing when we get past the C-19 problem we are having, if not card board some other material that i can place in front of my softbox, I had AlienBee's moonunit kit but never used them and gave them away, now i wish i had kept them, it had stars and other shapes.

I sometimes use a UV or skylight filter with a slight coating of hair spray for a diffuser.

You have always been artistic, but this was really impressive. Hair and makeup was really nice. Even without it, Rebecca is lovely, but you added a lot. Always like your choice of dresses and this was really unique and suitable. Great job on the glass blocks and also on the cardboard cookie. Your studio is small and improvised, but the results are fully professional. Well done.

That cardboard cut out, phenominal!!
Irene, on a mirror-less camera, it is a good idea to keep the opening on the camera pointed down when changing lenses.
This avoids dust, hair, whatever falling onto the sensor while the lens is off. To test how dirty your sensor is, put the lens on F16-22 or so, point a bright blue surface, ex use a blue background on a PC screen or so. The use a long shutter (like 1.5sec) and take a pic while moving the camera briskly in a circle. This will then only show the dust and stuff on your sensor.
Maybe an idea for a video!! ;-) The test also works for DSLR. Good cleaning kits are available on amazon or so, the wet wipes are best, but the sensor pen with a sticky block is also a good start. You'll also need a sensor magnifying glass, preferably with leds for lighting.
I shoot at 1.2 pretty much all the time, dust was never a problem to me.

Irene, do you ever use live view for your models/clients to see the shots as the session progresses? Sometimes I find they get into the shoot more when they see the images on a nearby monitor.
Plus, I can provide coaching "on the fly" about what I'm seeing through the lens...

I don’t have a light such as what you used. Can I just use a bright light through the cardboard.
Window light with blinds adjusted to different widths work well too. And, lace close to the light source is good, and other materials & stuff; How about your blocks with a light blue background and a model in swim wear? Long hair could be tossed by an assistant or blown by a fan. And, with a blue color balance it would give an under water effect (?). In any case, these photos are fine!
The cut out screen is called a cucoloris, or cookie, and has been used in the MP industry for years.

Me too! I didn't when I was shooting, but when I edited the pictures I was like damnnnn should have shot those more.

That cardboard cut out was once called a " Cookie Cutter " used mainly to create dappled light on the background.
Actually it's sometimes called a cookie, which is short for cucoloris, which is the actual term.

Какой обьектив лучше я не пойму, чет кажется одинаково.. но бронзовый обьектив впечатляет :) Спасиб за очередной МК как создавать шедевры дома из подручных средств! Счас всем фотографам приходится по домам сидеть и заниматься чем то подобным

Mamiya is exactly 80mm on a full frame. No need for a speed booster
