How many good ideas get lost because the film execs couldn't figure out how to market it?

Who are the panelists? I only know some of them from previous years.
Crew, please get some foam for your mics already. You audience is people who are particular about audio quality and those annoying plosives are unnecessary.
I think this panel is a little too big given time limits and though some great feedback here it is still not as useful for me as the one in 2012 with a smaller panel. I think this panel was less willing to be critical, in a good way, and thus less educational.
Most of these finalists have only written a novel or have stories that sound like a pitch for a novel so I am curious as to what projects did not make the finalists that were scripts, not novels. Very interesting that Schneider is the one that ended up winning and the only one whose female project partner, and wife, who didn't speak was introduced too. Clever. As for timely, Buena Vista Social Club was fantastic because of the music and timely because it was a world of amazing musicians and music most knew nothing of, but that movie was 17 years ago. Even Cuba changed in the last 17 years.
Makes me wonder how did they come up with these finalists? There were way too many finalists with pitches for novels or that sound like they are pitching for novels. Film is a visual medium and these are not visual pitches as a whole. Would have been helpful for everyone I think if the panelists went into explaining the difference and if in future whoever selects the finalists could weed out more if not all pitches for novels since the topic is Film Pitch Competition and held at a film festival.

Sadly, the venue was locked, we could not set up, no lights, and the AV tech overslept, and this was filmed live at 8 or 9am as I recall. We had no audio and no mics because the venue's AV tech was not there at all until after the panel started. We got power, internet, mics and audio and livestreamed the best we could. This was performed for free by my company because we just loved these panel events, there was very little cooperation as far as venues and the judging panel (other than Manville) did not care if our filming was on time. We did the best we could. Trust me on that. ;)
