    I lost my baby boy to anencephaly in 1979. I never got to see or hold him. I have nothing to say he actually ever existed. Parents of to day don’t know how lucky they are being able to spend time with their baby. I would give anything if I could have held him and see his face. All I have are memories of the day I gave birth to my baby boy. He isn’t even berried in a proper grave as it’s just wasn’t done in those days. He is buried in someone else’s casket and I am not allowed to place flowers for him. So if you have or have had a baby born this way and I know how heartbreaking it is be thankful that you had the chance to spend time with them

      @@angelblue7779 Without the neocortex (and cerebrum) and literally only 10% of the rest of the brain, the baby would not have a cognition, blind, deaf, unable to feel pain and unaware of its situations later on life. All it would have now is some lower brain functions, which is the ability to move, suckle, and most of a newborn's reflexes. After a few days, the brainstem would cease functioning in the baby and either the heart or lungs fails. The baby either dies a terrible death by organ failure at less than 2 days or lives until they begin to suffer the other symptoms of not having a cerebrum for less than 5 years. They would not be able to feel love due to not having cognition and would not be able to even think, purely running on instinct until their brain fails to control their body and they die. It is not a good life.

All so your parents can hold you for 17 hours as your heart slowly stops? This death is the same death as an abortion, just delayed for a couple of months where the baby has to suffer the fate of being cognitively impaired and a vegetable without being able to think.

There was one case where a girl lived to about 2.5 years old but she had no brain just laid around rooting and sleeping had many seizures many illnesses. Anencephaly is unforgiving from the earliest days after conception. The strength of Luke Michael's parents to go forward, knowing what the outcome would be, is remarkable. They, at least had 17 hours with their little boy, time that will always be precious. ---Back in the days of medical stupidity, my little boy was taken away immediately. Never saw him, let alone held him, or caressed his face, nothing. He was shut away in a room for the 27 hours he lived. His spirit then flew free, and returned so briefly in another little boy (no bio connection). Re folic acid, of course take it before pregnancy, but I strongly believe there is also a genetic component. I chose to never attempt another baby. I consider my first born son a miracle, 55 years ago.

    • @JaimeMesChiens
      @JaimeMesChiens 5 лет назад +5

      sher phair I’m sorry for your sad experience. Fifty-five years ago neural tube defects couldn’t be diagnosed prenatally, so it must have been more tragic.
      This far, regarding primary spinal bifida, microcephaly, and anencephaly, (primary,) there has not been any inherited genetic marker or predisposition identified.
      There are other genetic conditions that exhibit microcephaly as a symptom of some genetic syndrome, and that’s called secondary microcephaly, and it occurs.
      There is no known genetic flaw or marker when the DNA of anencephalics have been completely mapped and studied.
      Neural tube defects happen very, very early in embryonic development, and no one knows why, other than the folic acid hypothesis.
      It is always, always recommended to terminate these tragic and IWL fetuses.
      To continue a pregnancy with all inherent risks for a non-viable shell-of-a-neonate is a matter than many obstetricians refuse to support.

      @sherphair802 5 лет назад +1

      @Telive Qwenton I think maybe you were asking me is my son alive. He was my 2nd born & died at 27 hours- on my birthday. I chose never to risk another pregnancy. What we did do, was the adoption of a 5 week old girl. Fast forward 30+ years. Adopted daughter (who had found her birth family 10 years previously--NO biological connection) had a baby boy. Picking him up one day at a profile view of his head and face, I SAW it. The unmistakable resemblance to my first born at that age= 8 months. This resemblance lasted on and off for 2 years. The same hair coloring, same blue eyes, facial similarity. I knew from my husband, who had demanded to see our little one, that he looked very much like his older brother. So, the spirit of my lost son came back for a short while, showing me in my adopted daughter's baby boy, that it was to "play out" just as it was supposed to. He would stay on this earth only briefly, so that his "sister" who needed a home, could come to us. What a generous spirit/soul he possessed to do this. I wear a heart shaped necklace, on one side is my first born as a little boy, on the other, my daughter's boy. Those who have asked about it, will say "they look like brothers" and women often will say they just felt a chill. Brothers....this I believe.

    What causes anencephaly?

    • @Captaincrunch235
      @Captaincrunch235 4 года назад +15

      anencephaly is caused by neural tube defects. Basically when you're a developing embryo, you will form whats called a neural tube by week 3 of embryogenesis. So if you think about a neural tube like a straw, with two openings one at the top (cranial end) and one at the bottom (caudal end), failure of those two openings to close will cause birth defects. In the case of anencephaly, the cranial opening (top part) fails to close. In the case of the bottom opening failing to close, you'd have an infant born with spina bifida. Usually neural tube defects can be reduced/prevented dramatically by consuming roughly 400 mcg of folate if you're attempting to conceive.

      It happened to me and I was consuming daily 400mg of folic acid ! And I have two healthy children , so I don't believe it's something genetic . Just bad luck :(

    I think letting him suffer so you can spend time with him is sick. We put down our animals when they suffer, yet are inhumane to humans. Makes no sense.

      Yes! As long as the parents agree. A baby with this condition became the youngest organ donor in Wisconsin. That’s really the only reason I could understand for not terminating

    How absolutely selfish, gross, cruel and pointless to bring this child to term and be born just to suffer horrifically. Religious beliefs really do enable normally decent humans to do truly evil things and feel fine about it.

    This is so sad but does it make you think Will you go to Heaven when you die? Here’s a quick test: Have you ever lied, stolen, or used God’s name in vain? Jesus said, “Whoever looks at a woman to lust for her has already committed adultery with her in his heart.” If you have done these things, God sees you as a lying, thieving, blasphemous, adulterer at heart, and the Bible warns that one day God will punish you in a terrible place called Hell. But God is not willing that any should perish. Sinners broke God’s Law and Jesus paid their fine. This means that God can legally dismiss their case: “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.” Then Jesus rose from the dead, defeating death. Today, repent and trust Jesus, and God will give you eternal life as a free gift. Then read the Bible daily and obey it. God will never fail you.

      So literally every human being is an adulterer or a liar. Noted.
