If they would've made a sequel, using Ash, It would've distracted viewers from what they were trying to do. You wouldn't have been able to take the Evil seriously, because everyone who knows Ash would've been like "Pfft, he's got this." They were driving the hopelessness home with new characters. I think they did a fantastic job with it personally
Hail to the king baby!! BTW, Bruce is way to hard on the Evil Dead original series. The special effects they did in those movies were amazing for the time they were shot.
I still love the first evil dead (and this one as well) but you have to put these old school movies in their proper time. For a movie made in the early 80's the first one is still crazy as hell
Chris Hess Well your wish is granted, Bruce is returning as Ash in a new TV series "Ash vs Evil Dead" which will be airing soon, also he's been confirmed to play Ash in future movies :)
It has its flaws but It is a propper horror movie, and the main actress did an awesome job. I hope she does more horrors because she is very talented. The only one-liner came at the end of the movie with "eat this" and an epic ending scene. I think people expected more of that so they missed the fact its a great horror flick. The 6.6 on imdb is way too low. If it had a different name it would have been 7+. All my friends are fans of original series, none wanted to go to the cinema.
It sucks that it was cancelled you can tell that he cared so much for Evil Dead and Ash and that’s probably the reason why he’s not coming back as Ash maybe if that show wasn’t cancelled he might still be Ash.
Well that just isn't true. Lightning can strike the same spot twice! And it certainly did with the 2013 remake. It's a modern horror masterpiece, best horror movie I have EVER seen.
yea read somewhere he said he wanted to keep fact he was in the movie and it does have some connection to the original movies just 30 years later a surprise
I thought that would be the big secret Bruce was talking about, for the Season 3 Finale of Ash vs Evil Dead. But Mia was definitely put off by the entire Evil Dead (2013) project.
Wonderlandian That says more about recent years than it does this film's quality but each to their own. Personally I much preferred the original but more power to you if you like this film.
I mean we can agree to dissagree. I think that we've had some really good horror films in recent years and ED2013 helped with that. I really loved it , but yeah to each their own.
The remake is very forgetful, too gory, contains boring characters, and hardly any humour. Watch the demons in the original. They were teasing Ash. This made the original even more disturbing. The remake is basically gore and more gore. Nothing original. It's ok Bruce is saying how much better the remake is, and how much better the actors are. But for me the actors in the original were more convincing.
Oh i have watched all of the ED movies including AoD (that i thought was horrible). My 2 favorites were Evil Dead 1 and Evil Dead 2013. Not sure what movies you watched but Evil Dead 1 wasnt funny (it never tried to be) the only reason why it seemed that way was cause of the bad dialoge/acting and low budget effects. Still a great movie for its time dont get me wrong. Fede wanted to bring evil dead back to its roots which is why he went for the straight up gore and horror and boy did he deliver. 100% practical effects done beautifuly and the characters actually have a reason why they are at an isolated cabin in the woods instead of "yeah partyyyyyy" which was the case in ED1. In the 2013 the acting was far better without a doubt. Jane Levy (Mia) was SUPERB and better than anyone in the old movie just from the range of her character alone. (Drug addict , Pure Evil, Badass) each of them portraied beautifuly. Anyone who claims otherwise is simply wrong on this one, i cant tell you not to like the original movies but the acting was simply high school movie levels of horrible. (Besides Bruce Campbell in ED2 and AoD) So in conclusion, the remake was a success and for good reasons. I really hope we eventually get a sequel that continues the story of Mia and eventually a Mia and Ash team up would be epic.
Too bad Evil Dead (2013) was not good. Wonderful trailer. I really love the concept ( a girl battling addiction and this being a metaphor for withdrawal ). The 'look' is great. They forgot to add entertainment, rhythm, suspense, dread, character, smarts, etc. UPDATE: I love it now. Took four viewings though.
Guess what? Since I've posted that comment, I've seen it again (for the fourth time) and I've come to really love it over time. So, yea, I really dig it now.
proof that good actors dont always make the movie Will say Evil Dead 1981 actors were not as good as the remakes but I felt more for the first actors than the remakes, they were too safe.
I enjoyed the 2013 version but wish they used the old demon voices from the original, the original will never be beaten but glad this version was made! Just too much hype around it I found the trailer more disturbing than the actual movie
Bruce is DEAD WRONG on the impression the first movie made up against any of the sequels etc. What does he mean by "cheesy"?? NOTHING was cheesy on the original except maybe the clay animation! There is something about the (cabin, fog, woods, 70's feel, and the incantations....the music...demonic background sounds...and especially THE MAKE UP EFFECTS!!!)...."that when ALL pulled together, made THE SCARIEST MOVIE OF ALL TIME!!! It truly is a CLASSSIC that our family has cherished and handed down. I have a 23 yr old daughter that to this day all I have to do is say "JOIN US" and she freaks!! LOL LOL
i think the practical effects of the first where the best , when things mutate or decay they go through all kinds of colorful circles and dissolve like fast forwarded footage of mice gettin eaten by maggots.
Are you american? Is that why your standards are rock bottom? The movie was unimaginative, nothing about it was special. In fact, it was below normal US horror movie standards. The effects were not better than CGI since you could see that what material things were made out of at most points. The story in this movie were 100 times worst than the original.
The remake... disappointing me and my brother who loved the original... hell we loved all three of the Evil Dead ones... that had Ash in it. Then the payoff for this ultimate being is beaten rather easily and almost clumsily by a chainsaw... Also, the sister coming back to life with a car battery start? Also, the female lead... why should we have cared about her when her exposition was spoon feed to us? It didn't have the shock and horror the original had nor did it have the humor of the second one. To think there was a girl who even said this in an interview with the cast of AshvsEvildead... a girl asked if they would ever make a female lead for the Evil Dead series? Ted Ramini's response or was it Sam? Either way... they already tried that. That says something about the remake. It almost feels like the movies wanted us to drop Ash from the series... WHY!? He's iconic! Bruce Campbell may or may not dislike Ash but he should have seen that coming. Still love you Ash but the remake was... meh. All the other things evil dead with you Bruce in it? Awesome.
"Cried many times"? She had one breakdown moment during the entire making of the movie. With all the stuff that they had her go through in that film? Sounds pretty fucking tough to me. Got buried alive 3 times , was chocked with vines, she had a freaking ear infection and couldnt hear for 3 weeks after the movie had ended. You think she "wasnt that tough"?
She was an absolute trooper and deserves a grand salute. The lack of CGI made this a tough project for her. I think every fan of this remake gave her a mental standing ovation for her performance, she was Frackin amazing dood!
If they would've made a sequel, using Ash, It would've distracted viewers from what they were trying to do. You wouldn't have been able to take the Evil seriously, because everyone who knows Ash would've been like "Pfft, he's got this." They were driving the hopelessness home with new characters. 9 years late but you right
Best, most honest interview I've seen with an actor.
Hail to the king baby!!
BTW, Bruce is way to hard on the Evil Dead original series. The special effects they did in those movies were amazing for the time they were shot.

Fav scary movie
one of best actor of all time
Wow, never seen Bruce interviewed before, he sounds like a very well spoken guy, good to now Ash isn't a total douche bag.
Bruce Campbell....you are awesome! No one could ever replace you as Ash!! Hail to the king, baby!! :3
First time I remember seeing Bruce.. "The Adventures of Briscoe County, Jr." Love to watch about anything he's in.. gotta love him!
GROOVY
Great interview, I really hope to see Mr. Campbell as Ash in another Evil Dead movie!
Chris Hess Well your wish is granted, Bruce is returning as Ash in a new TV series "Ash vs Evil Dead" which will be airing soon, also he's been confirmed to play Ash in future movies :)
I know dude can't wait by the way when reading ur comment I just emagine buzz light year talking lol
Best decision was to bring Evil Dead to Starz! #AshvsEvilDead
actially worst decision they canceled it should of been on netflix
@@frankcarlo8592 Netflix would ruin It like they did to leatherface
Love Bruce Campbell...guys a legend!
Bruce Campbell....♥
Just watched all 3 Evil Dead movies, minus the reboot. I have to say, GROOVY.
I was more creeped out by the "cheesy effects" of the original one.
What’re you 40
I would be lying if I said I never jumped during the original movies
The interviewer finished it with 'Thank you for the interview Mr Ash" Brilliant; must have been a true fan boy mesmerized by Mr Campbell's chin!
Bruce Campbell rocks!
I wish this man was my father.
Yeah, me too!
Army of darkness must happen again
Seth Bernoir here,on the right side of youtube mini videos is a post "erin Darling":Bruce Campbell says No Army of Darkness 2,sorry !!!!
He will do a TV show called ash vs the evil dead and it is a continuation on army of Darkness
Peter Schmidt hes doing a tv show instead, which Id prefer
Seth Bernoir how is it could, seth?!thx.
I am not lying here, ash was HOT.
true dat sister ;P
@@XxNeonWolfxX41 i know this was 4 years ago but everyone saw that you replied to yourself

Wanted to keep it original? The 'Groovy' at the end was an honest wtf moment for the audience and myself, but I still loved it.
Even I didn’t get to meet him I’ll write it on my bucket list😭😭😢
It sucks that it was cancelled you can tell that he cared so much for Evil Dead and Ash and that’s probably the reason why he’s not coming back as Ash maybe if that show wasn’t cancelled he might still be Ash.
its about the movie
Is it not working?
Bruce is so Groovy
To be honest .. the first movie was an epic movie !... stands amongst the best 😀😁
come on Bruce the first was a classic. Lightening only strike once!
Well that just isn't true. Lightning can strike the same spot twice! And it certainly did with the 2013 remake. It's a modern horror masterpiece, best horror movie I have EVER seen.
The man!
GROOOOVY!!!
During the screening I was watching, people were actually leaving because of how scary and disturbingly gory it was
excellent
Handsome dude.
Everything Bruce says just sounds badass.
oh god his voice is perfect
I think this was the best movie about a cabin in the woods
yea read somewhere he said he wanted to keep fact he was in the movie and it does have some connection to the original movies just 30 years later a surprise
*thud* Gotta love Bruce!
the best
I know Ash and Mia will meet ....... Someday
Joshua Orro maybe in Ash vs Evil Dead
I thought that would be the big secret Bruce was talking about, for the Season 3 Finale of Ash vs Evil Dead. But Mia was definitely put off by the entire Evil Dead (2013) project.
i have never seen the original but now that I have seen the remake I want to really bad I should buy it on blue ray
coming from a true Deadite i love all EVIL DEAD anything
Ash was in the Evil Dead remake....
Bruce's book is great
Exactly what I think! If it
s not bruce as Ash, then it's not Ash, it's his brother Alex or something.
Bruce campbell is the evil. Dead. How he missed that I don't know.
it was announced that this film will have a sequel, followed by a crossover with the original trilogy
Groovy
Does anyone else think Bruce now would make a really good old Bruce Wayne batman in frank millers dark knight returns?
groovy
This movie scared the fucking shit out of me.
I didn't get scared when watching the first one. Instead, I was laughing my ass off because I thought it was a funny movie.
That was partially the point. That's what fans fell in love with. I enjoyed the (2013) remake so much more.
@Chel Lord The remake is bullshit made for money reasons. It lacks definetely of the first movies atmosfear. But hey, everybody his own pleasure.
The Chel Lord The remake sucked royal anus
bernisweltredsun the remake was 🔥 a new look at the evil dead and I loved it it fits in perfectly
Lane Webb nope
The original films are classics...this one...well
This one was one of the greatest horror movies in recent years
Wonderlandian That says more about recent years than it does this film's quality but each to their own. Personally I much preferred the original but more power to you if you like this film.

"The audience will be sucked in....Like a vortex". I think he`s having flashbacks to Evil Dead 2 :)
The remake looks good, but doesn't really GRAB me like the original did.
Why does the interviewer sound like he's talking to him from the end of a long hallway?
Hail to the king baby
nice ya
LOL...yes!
hasnt come out in aus yet :(
Hail to the King baby
I would love a show with Bruce Campbell and Timothy olyphant idc about the genre. I just think it would be a great match
4:30
was the tv show already in the works at this point bc thats and oddly on the nose way of putting it
I'm desperate to watch this movie, it's a shame I'm not the best when it comes to jumpscares.
proof that good actors dont always make the movie
Will say Evil Dead 1981 actors were not as good as the remakes but I felt more for the first actors than the remakes, they were too safe.
LOL "cut off a arm..."
I say Bruce needs to stay in the movie and I don't care still watch all four of them.
If my Mum saw Evil Dead she would've had a heart attack.
The same here
They could have added a porche 911 too. Wrangler and 911 will look the same to an average person who doesnt care about cars even 50 years from now.
One of the characters looks like he's from the 70s or one another from the 90s.
They use pigsblood, not human blood. Still, Braindead got the record of ammount of real blood used I think.
the only way id enjoy a batman film, the one with jim carrey as the riddler is the only one i can watch
where my boom stick
I loved the original, but the new one took out the humor, it took out the snazz, it took out FUCKING ASH
+RetrobitGaming the first one doesn't have very much humor in it. It has some black comedy, but the comedy elements really came with the second one.
+AlmostLikeHuman it didnt have any PURPOSEFUL humor, but it was funny nonetheless
+RetrobitGaming yeah that remake sucked. Thank gawd for awesome tv show.
I think David should've been ash
1. The first evil dead was not supposed to be funny.
2. The Evil Dead remake was one of the best horror movies in recent years
I enjoyed the 2013 version but wish they used the old demon voices from the original, the original will never be beaten but glad this version was made! Just too much hype around it I found the trailer more disturbing than the actual movie
you shuld the old ones are way better if u thought that was good
eat this
anybody else notice he looks a lot like Mitt Romney?
yeah, it's not like Bruce Campbell produced the movie or anything...
"work shit"
uhh no
:(
Remake would've been better to me if David was ash and idec if it's not Bruce but why dress him EXACTLY like him ?
I think that was a fake head.
SPOILER!!!
3:21-3:29
Hehe, if only he knew.
I love Bruce i did not like new evildead just the blood gore made me watch it
jason, dont bother, he is one of those ppl. The book was better, part one is better, original is better....nobody cares hipster!
Bruce is DEAD WRONG on the impression the first movie made up against any of the sequels etc. What does he mean by "cheesy"?? NOTHING was cheesy on the original except maybe the clay animation! Alright she-bitch ..let's go....
Most of it is real? damn I tho I was blood donor in order to save lives! :O
Heh, He auditioned for Batman in Batman Forever, whichever the on with Val Kilmer was.
kind of dampend the awsome ness of the orginal evil dead
The Remake was NOT Groovy,Original was way better.
Can hardly hear the guy asking the questions,All Im hearing is Bruce answering.
He's really old looking now.

BULLSHIT. He`s just promoting it cos it cost so much
