Thank you sister👍🏿 The dialogue in that scene was poorly written and rich with ignorance. Apparently the influx of black British actors in hollywood is only 1% African Americans seem to have no problems playing roles of africans outside of the United States, nor does anybody else. They would happily travel here and work if the opportunities arose. The Stockholm syndrome comment🤮 how did the writer find that plausible? Apparently it was based on comments made by actor ‘David Harewood’ but suppose we took the comments of an individual like ‘Jesse Lee Peterson’ who thanked God for SLAVERY and used that to define them as a people. This why the words ‘critical research’ exist.
I have never seen she gotta have it at all. Thanks for this info. If black people across the waters can not get on, what are black people actually fighting for.
One thing I love about the work of Black American scholar called Darrell M Newton has traveled to the UK as a whole (not just London) has networked UK black actors & filmmakers. His published work Paving the Empire Road: BBC Television and Black Britons is a must read as it demonstrates his field research to provide an insight of the historical legacy of black actors & filmmakers in the UK & decades of struggle & activism to create opportunities for blacks within the British Film & Television industry.
The scene was horribly ignorant. What African Americans need to realize: No. 1 not play African roles, No.2 not sell their films internationally and only domestically. Then they can complain about other Black actors coming to Hollywood. They are completely oblivious to America's super power status, Hollywood as the global center of film (unfortunately because lately it produced many trash films) and Hollywood's insulating tactics. For example, Hollywood never synchronized any European films...because then it would have to compete! Think about that.
ahahaha you only have an issue with nola's commentary... but nola thinking is wrong headed.... you didn't even address what ol buddy said... cool story... also she wasn't wrong...
@@SoFrolushes she does stay wrong but not in that instances... I love my people from all over the diaspora... but when most actors come here from other places its so they shoe horn theseselves into roles written by people who love black art but hate our black American skin... so they want black american adjacent... and others eat that shit up because it feeds their egos that being back where they came from doesn't... kinda like who europe is very anti-african/caribbean... but love black americans
@@AyeJai Black Americans are loved by europeans indeed. So many Black Brits get better uk roles after establishing a Hollywood career. They garner more respect. But luckily there are Black UK directors writers and actors trying to increase in the UK more Some just get frustrated and bounce.
Black British culture? You all have a defined culture? The Black British "culture" is nothing but a hodge podge of other black cultures across the diaspora.
Thank you sister👍🏿

I don't know why some people think that such scenes can be made and no reaction given or commentary made in response by Black Brits.

I know you have loads of Black Brit sources.
@@SoFrolushes Definitely, and those sources are referenced in Darrell M Newton's work.

What he said was wrong. He simply gassed up Nola for his own needs. Nola stays wrong.
