The range on this bike is 300 miles (500kms)on a tank of fuel. Start looking for fuel at 240 miles. The ABS system is rather sophisticated, one of the best in the industry. In the meantime to stop the ABS light flashing, press the ABS button on the left pocket fairing. Best tires are Bridgestone Battleaxe T32s. 79k miles the bike is barely broken in. New timing belt will be required at 90k miles. Inspect the connector for the main relay make sure it isn’t compromised. Fresh brake and clutch fluid would be a good idea. I would also flush the cooling system. Oil level should be between the two marks on the site glass. Good luck on your event. Excellent info can be had from the “Archives of Wisdom” on the ST-Riders forum. (I have a RUclips channel for my ST1100)

@@HelmetHead they are a very good bike and could give years of service, you should have fun on your charity ride. You will also be able to pack some gear, tent and sleeping pads and bags wouldn’t be an issue. I have a hammock tent but that’s another story. Cheers

Great bikes.....mines a 2000 model and 67K , as said check swing arm also exhausts, fit new tyres and the "tipping in" on corners/roundabouts will disappear.

I watched Allen Millyard's bottom end rebuild of his ST1100. His skill and tenacity for running down a slight rod knock is amazing but I was also thinking about the design of the ST1100 engine. Its a marvel of engineering, build quality, function and serviceability. And they quit making these to make the ST1300 engine and then they discontinued that! I believe that one day people will look back and ask "how did they do that?" Kind of like that ask "how did they build the pyramids?" The design and complexity of the ST1100 engine is just amazing and now they are knocking about as just old bikes.

Great vid. Ive got a 98 1100 pan that has just passed the 100000 miles. It still sounds and rides like a 20,000 miler. Best motorcycle I have ever owned in 52 years of riding.

Great Bike the Pan European. I had the same model for a couple of Years, the ST1100. The only downside for me was that it was extremely Top Heavy (44 stone) and difficult to park on a camber… 😂. The handle bar design and shaft drive made me feel like I was on a giant scooter. Fantastic buy for 850 notes though. Enjoy 🤩. Cheers Dean (Monkey Dix Adventures)

Ditto the comments about the owners club. Manuals are also available online.
The Abs is very 'Honda'. Pressing the Abs light will stop the flash but to dismiss the light or retrieve the code which tells you what actually set it off requires pressing and holding the Abs button before turning on the ignition. Keep holding to get rid of the light or quickly release to retrieve the fault code. My Abs light occasionally lights up when caught in stop start traffic, the system is very voltage sensitive apparently.

I knew a guy at work (he now retired) who had a 1992 st1100 with 168,000 miles on and it was sweet as a nut, he put 90% of the miles on it, he loved the bike and had really looked after it, even though he rode it through every winter for years and it never let him down 👍😁

Bought £750 sold £1100 .Ran fine after fixing fuel tank ( common issue ) but badly effected in side winds and droning from airbox due to location under fake fuel tank . Best tourer is probably a BMW GS or if on the cheap a TDM 900 .
