- Positivity is not called for in every situation or for every person. Keeping a positive outlook can be helpful, but knee-jerk positivity can be taken to extremes. Clinical psychologist Holly Vanderhoff, PhD, explains the difference between healthy and toxic positivity, and what you can do if you feel pressure to always look on the bright side. Vanderhoff is an associate professor of psychiatry and behavioral sciences at Upstate.
“The Informed Patient” is a podcast that covers health, science and medicine, featuring experts from Central New York’s only academic medical center. Upstate Medical University has four colleges (Medicine, Nursing, Health Professions and Graduate Studies); a robust research enterprise; and an extensive clinical health care system that extends way beyond Syracuse.
