Everyone i talked to who went said it was the best convention theyve been to in years. And a lot of independent artists and retailers made more money than usual.
Maybe the studios should not be invited again .. they knew what the strike was going to do to the industry! Yet they nothing about it ! Until the last minute! Unbelievable!
This a full on writers and actors strike that the writers and actors are not getting paid due to streaming services. As a reviewer if you are planing to see actors you will not be able to due to the strike they have stayed they are not showing .
artist are always being celebrated at sdcc from people who buy and love comic books, they've said since the 80s "comics are not going to survive" guess what it's been 43 years like any entertaiment media it has it's ups and downs. Good riddance for hollywood, hollywood is just one small part of the convention while the rest is pop culture in general and a lot of that pop culture is comic books.
I don't think so, pretty sure they've all lost their way in everything. They are actively hostile towards their own customers! You only have to look at the projects they dump on us nowadays. Half of their productions nowadays seems to be ringing of a whispered "TAKE THIS, YOU IDIOT FANS! HA HA!"

Time for SDCC to go back being a Fancon like it used to be before the big movie and tv studios came in.

it's sad that the studios are blaming it on the writers. How about you pay them what they're worth
After phase 4? Not much.
It won't do it any harm to lose the big studios. It'll be less glossy and produced. It'll be telling if any celebs show up - watch out for those.
