The Danny McBride that wrote this is not THE Danny McBride from the Seth Rogan comedies or Halloween. This McBride played Mason in this film and wrote the rest of the Underworld franchise.

She also got married to the director, Len Wiseman, about a year after the divorce. I didn't expect Michael in any sequels. The prequel he came back for was not directed by Len Wiseman.
Kevin Grevioux, who plays the werewolf Raze and has that incredible voice, came up with the original story that this film is based on. He also created the Marvel character Blue Marvel!

One of my first crushes ever growing up was Kate Beckinsale as Selene in this franchise. VERY few women alive can look equally scalding hot and absolutely badass, and she pulls it off in spades! This is also one of my favorite franchises. It shows the best depiction of Vampires and Werewolves I’ve ever seen in movies. Especially how the Werewolves look once they’ve transformed. And I love how in this world all of their powers and weaknesses are explained scientifically instead of through magic or curses. Not to mention in this universe werewolves and vampires are actually evenly matched in terms of overall strength making it an even fight.
I’m sure there are many women and man who can look like Celina when there is the whole professional crew dressing you, putting makeup on you, setting lights, choosing angles, etc, you know, movie magic. It’s not like you breaking into Kate’s place at 3am and she sitting there in leather under the rain in cepia)) not taking away her badassery, but it’s a production, and there are a lot of cool actresses. “Very few alive” sounds kinda sad x) But there is “the one and only” for each, I guess, and she’s yours.
Kate Beckinsale was with Michael Sheen at the time of filming the first Underworld movie. And she did get together with Len Wiseman because of this movie. I definitely recommend watching the second and third sequels. I love the whole series.
Actually, Sheen was already her ex, they stayed friends for their kid. Kate didn't cheat on Michael to get with Len, they were already separated and had been and both have repeatedly said as much. Her and Len did start dating in this film and got married a year later.

The Underworld movies have always game me a Blade/Hellboy type of feel which really love. I also love how extremely badass Kate Beckinsale is in these movies lol.
Did you know that effect of Lucian running after the car at 16:13 was done in real time with a huge mat getting dragged behind the car whilst he runs on the long mat behind it, that's dope af no effects needed just ingenuity 👍 looks cool running after the car ( it's in behind the scenes edit)
The practical effects were amazing. This is one of the few movies were I watched all the behind the scenes stuff I could find. The Lucian run and the Selene drop were all practical and so legit. It gave the movie more verisimilitude.
I love this universe! Michael Sheen as Lucien is just perfection! Please please PLEASE watch Underworld Rise of the Lycans! It's the next best movie in this universe and it's Lucien's origin story.
My one gripe, if that’s what you can call it, is that Amelia is supposed to be a powerful elder, one of only three, and we didn’t even see her try to fight off the lycans in the ambush. She’s a warrior just like Viktor and Markus, so it was just kinda weird. I get cause she’s not the main character but nonetheless, we only see her for a brief moment and then she gets slaughtered.
I always felt, they must have had someone in Amelia’s entourage that might have put something in their drinks and maybe that’s why they didn’t have a chance to fight back. Or the guys who created the vampires for these movies were more about the lycans being stronger and faster. I wanted to see the vampires be vampires as I know them. They had some cool abilities but I felt like it wasn’t enough. Now the last movie made was what I was expecting the vampires to be like.
What you may not realize yet is that Lucian and Sonya were in love that is what Lucian saw between Michael and Selene that and if Lucian’s child was born it would been a hybrid like Michael
Underworld brings back so much nostalgia for me. At a time where tough female protagonist were on the rise, the Underworld and Resident Evil films were released around the same time. Kate Beckinsale and Milla Jovovich were my everything! I'm glad Halloween can bring the Underworld movies back to life again. Kate and Michael Sheen killed it! So glad they can work together after a divorce! Also Roxie don't worry! Sheen aka Lucian will be back for the 3rd film! It's a prequel!
Yes, I hope after Underworld they go into the Resident Evil films. If you like Underworld 9 times out of 10 you’ll have fun with the Resident Evil films! 1, Apocalypse, and Retribution are my favs! Hope to see them on the channel real soon.

This is one of my favorite movie franchises. It takes a lot of what people think of Vampires and Werewolves and just evolves it. The practical effects on the werewolves, while somewhat cheesy, still look pretty good and the choreography is amazing. The action is just *chefs kiss*. I had always been curious about vampire-werewolf hybrids and this franchise fulfilled my curiosity and then some. Hope to see the rest of the movies in future reactions 👍🏻
I was curious about thst as well and it was cool how they did it. Plus the sciencey way they explained stuff added verisimilitude. The Lucian run and the Selene drop at the beginning were legit cool and well done practical effects.
Beckinsale's as much vamp as vampire, and that she's clad in tight shiny leather doesn't at all hurt her contribution to the cachet of the action drama.
I'm starting to think Kate Beckinsale really is immortal. She could still play Seline if the opportunity arose. And the werewolves in the Underworld series are among the best ever put on film

Rise Of The Lycans is the prequel that tells the story that they briefly touched on. Check out Van Helsing as well such a good movie that fits your Kate Beckinsale love.
That was a surprisingly more 'funner' watchalong with you two than I actually expected, so, thank you for that! If ya liked it now, imagine deleting the last twenty years, this was such a treat at the time. For one thing, there weren't a lot of vampire and/or werewolf genre flicks around, Twilight movie was still five years away... AND there had never been a cross-over flick like this ever done(!), at this level anyways, so to try to explain how refreshing and repeat watchable this was at the time, well...! And yeah, Kate was with Martin Sheen before (and they have a daughter together). Martin is excellent in 2006's The Queen, a surprisingly good watch which I hope you give a try, even if on yer own time.
There was an idea... for Selene and Blade to crossover. However, since Marvel was having a resurgence back then, they said, "No. We want to keep the daywalker and reboot him for our future Cinematic Universe".

WW sued the producers of this film for over a dozen counts of copyright infringement a few weeks before the film was to release, and it was settled privately out of court a few days later. The details of the settlement were never made public.
Love Underworld. The Sequel and Prequel are pretty worthwhile too but the first one is really solid. Kate Beckinsale is excellent and the overall World of Darkness vibe and early 2000 vibes in this makes it a classic. I wasn't even sure you really enjoyed it until Roxy actually said she did afterwards. I was so relieved :D
If you guys are going to watch the whole series you should definitely watch Rise Of The Lycans. It's an awesome prequel that gives you a look at that moment between Lucien and Sonja. I love all of these movies so much. I was already in love with vampires and werewolf lore, and this made me get obsessed with it even more at that time 😅
Saw this the year it came out, and so started a life long crush on Kate Beckinsale. Gorgeous and completely badass, Selene is one of the best movie vampires of all time IMO.
Yeah when it comes to vampire/werewolf movies the underworld series is firmly in my top 3. It had an interesting story that wasnt overly complicated good action and good characters. Not to mention its one of the few that gave werewolves some respect when it came to vampires. I also liked how in the end of this movie while it was clear Micheal was stronger and faster viktor was just vastly more experienced and skilled when it came to fighting
Great cult following movie. One of my favorites! Knows exactly the movie it wants to be - combination of silly fun horror and world building. Do the entire franchise!
This movie is interesting in that Selene is learning all the lore at the same time we are, so the exposition makes sense rather than feeling shoe-horned in for our benefit.
Blade and Selene has some of the best landings when he flips from super high places and she just jumps and walks off like an absolute boss 👏🏾 and my boyfriend literally makes the bloods and crips joke during the train scene 😂😂

Elder Immortals can get memories when they bite. If between Elders the memories are clear That is why Amelia was supposed to awaken Marcus. Marcus would then have the memories available during his reign I always thought the cycle Amelia Marcus Victor was designed so Victor could get Marcus blood and Marcus couldnt get Victor’s

Yessss, I was obsessed with the Underworld movies growing up. The modern gritty setting is just perfect (and very early 2000s). Selene's a freakin cool vampire, and is probably the only woman my gay self has ever been attracted to. The second movie really gets into the backstory of the Vampires vs. Lycans, and there's also a Lycan movie that tells the whole Lucian Victor storyline (the flashbacks in this movie). It's a fun series. It might just be me, but after hearing Roxy love on this movie and like this more than Blade, it kind of feels like this movie has more of a woman's touch. The movie is sexy, but doesn't really exploit women to do it. Their costumes are beautiful (so sad we didn't get to see more Amelia and her dress), and Selene's always covered from head to toe. The guys are more of the eye candy in this movie. The whole story is about forbidden love between Vampires and Lycans. I don't know, just feels like Underworld embraced its femininity along with its masculinity. edit: it's not the Danny McBride I think you guys are thinking haha
Totally agree on all parts! Selene in this is somewhat sexualized in her latex outfit, but for me as a hetero man, I love that she's a badass! But still agree, aside from her outfit, this doesn't objectify her. She's really the main protagonist, and Michael is kind of a McGuffin. Anyway, I also love the costumes in this series. So on point with setting an atmosphere from locations, but these costumes really help it stand out.
After blade this is one of my favorite vampire franchises I love every single one, and I love you guys are taking this journey. this movie fr gives you early 90’s blade vibes 👏🏾👏🏾 so excited your the second channel I follow that’s watching these for the first time. I know it’s not super clean but I appreciate the practical effects, the music, the story line of who victor really is and how everything actually played out they set these films up perfectly.
My dad introduced me to this movie when I was wayyy too young and it blossomed my love of action and horror. This is one of those movies I had on repeat growing up and the franchise as a whole is super fun. Love the John and Roxy pairing and I hope you guys cover the next ones

Marcus was revived by the blood of an older change-control lycan. A revived elder vampire gains the memories of the one whose blood revives him/her, which is how the elders "leapfrogged through time". But they also established that he is also a direct "son of Corvinus", so can survive exposure to both bloodlines like Michael.
Scott Speedman who plays Michael Corvin was in most of the Underworld movies as well as smaller roles in ensemble casts. Outside of that, he starred in several seasons of the TNT show "Animal Kingdom".
Scott Speedman's first big break was being the love interest of Keri Russell in Felicity. That show heavily revolved around the love triangle between him, Keri Russell, and Scott Foley. Underworld came out just as Felicity finished up, and Scott Speedman was still a big star. The sequels and prequel aren't nearly as good as the first, but still higher quality than most Vampire/Werewolf movies (low bar unfortunately). Kate Beckinsale is a fantastic lead, and the prequel has Michael Sheen and Bill Nighy owning the screen like usual.
Most? he thought the series went in a different direction than he expected so he turned down filming new scenes but agreed for them to use his likeness for the third film and a snippet of the forth. Probably because Michael, a special being who happens to be the only known person to survive bites from both creatures whom we know nothing about, just came down to being Selene's lap dog. I know Kate was the main bread and butter but I would've liked for them to go more into Michael's power etc.
One thing I always thought about Michael is that Michael isnt even as strong as he was supposed to be Lucian is an Elder werewolf Selene isnt an Elder yet
People forget Michael was a Doctor, who had no combat experience, and he was a days old werewolf and a few seconds old as a Hybrid. He had no time to learn his new strength and powers. Where as Viktor is over 800 plus year old Vampire Elder, and the second vampire alive, turned by Marcus Corvinus, the original vampire. And Viktor had centuries of combat experience and knew exactly what he was capable of with his powers. And yet, at least in the beginning of the fight with Viktor, Michael held his own and was winning the fight.
That's what I loved about it tbh. We're shown that Michael has good speed and stability but that only comes with his transformation. He doesn't have any experience with combat and he definitely isn't even a fan of violence given his medical history.
Due to digital not being the greatest, and the production team knowing that, a lot of practical was used and honestly looks the best. Like with the running to catch up to the car scene, they actually had him balance on a long metal and rubber mat that was being pulled behind the car before he broke out into a full sprint.
While the character name and Selene, and look are based on a Marvel character, the entire series was based the White Wolf TTRPG World Of Darkness(woD). So much so, when White Wolf successfully sued over IP rights, there 17 counts, and 60 separate details. That said, for most WoD fans, we love the movies. Most likely the best and closest thing to a quality WoD movie adaptation.
"Julia Styles" is Sophia Myles, she played one of the most beloved 'one off' characters in the New Era of Doctor Who, an incredible performance. If you want to see a great performance from Sophia, check out episode "The Girl in the Fireplace" during the David Tenant era. Roxy will appreciate it for it's 'love story'
Scott Speedman was in a show called "Animal Kingdom" based on an Australian film by the same name. It's about a mother that uses her four adrenaline junky sons to perform heists and she takes in her grandson (Finn Cole from Peaky Blinders) and shows him the ropes.
I get so much nostalgia from this movie, it was actually my first R rated movie. I had such a huge crush on Selene back then. Loved vampire films, books, games ever since.(Except Twilight of course) Underworld will always be my favorite.
The amount of practical effects on this movie is ASTOUNDING! Patrick Totapolous (sp?) is absolutely amazing. I cannot fawn over his work enough. 20 years old and it’s still some of the best fighting scenes in werewolf movies ever.

Blade Vs Underworld was a HUGE thing in my personal life and very recently found out that Kate Beckinsale is VERY open to a Crossover Blade and Underworld! Underworld filled in things i was missing from the Blade series, so its hard to say which i like more as well! It's interesting because Selene was like, one of the youngest vampires there, so naturally all of the others, Lucian, Victor etc. had more history and so on, and all about her was to figure herself between what she found out and what she believed in! More of it will be in second movie, which is also amazing as the first one. I love this take on vampires and werewolfs in general. So true to beast like themes, and not sparkly and just boring.
It was cool watching John and Roxy point out both the themes of interracial stuff as well as class (with the Lycans being thralls to their vampire masters) conflict as well as generational conflict that we see in Israel/Palestine or the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, etc, where disputes reach back generations. I think it's why Underworld is better than what some people may think it ranks in the vampire film genre.
Filmed in Czechoslovakia. Based on the Underworld comic book created by Kevin Grevioux, who plays the giant werewolf Raze. The practical effect of Lucian chasing after the speeding car was ingenious. The car was dragging a platform where the stuntman playing Lucian was running on after the car. No matter how fast the car was going, the running stuntman will catch up to the car! IMO the sequel was as good as the sequels to The Terminator and Alien. I just noticed it this time. They pulled a ‘George Lucas’ on the version of Underworld you just reacted to. This wasn’t the theatrical version I saw. The flashback of Sonja’s death was originally played by an unknown unnamed actress. This time you can see it’s Rhona Mitra who played Sonja in the Underworld ‘prequel’!
7:07 , As soon as they started wondering if they would prefer to be a Vampire or Lycan, I immediately thought that John looks sooo much like Lucian! Their looks are so matched here!
I think a great thing about these movies is that they straight-up just don't give you a huge amount of the exposition until the end Also, I like to imagine how squeaky it must have been on-set, same for Blade and the Matrix
As you watch the series pay attention to Selene's eyes. When she's in her human(ish) form her eyes are brown, your vampire form has blue eyes. In future films they other colors.
The Danny McBride who wrote this has a small role in the film as a vampire. It was a treat watching you guys react to this, I haven’t seen this movie in years. I remember it came out the year I graduated and we saw in the drive-ins super stoned. It was an awesome experience, I love the use of practical effects. Something very much forgotten in 2003.
I saw Kate on Pearl Harbor before Underworld and found her very cute and beautiful then when i saw the trailer for Underworld with the Red Tape song then i fell in deep love for her plus the special effects of this movie are awesome for the time. I got all 5 movies of the franchise in Bluray plus Blade came in 98 and also have all 3 in Bluray. Michael Sheen is also such a badass in this film. I also recommend you watch John Carpenter's Vampires with James Woods which came out in the same year as Blade.
Those memories that Micheal is seeing belong to the person who bit him (Lucian), and in this specific version of the movie you are watching, they are using scenes from the prequel movie (Underworld: Rise of the Lycans) to create those memories, while in the original version scenes were created specifically for the movie.

Did you know that effect of Lucian running after the car at 16:13 was done in real time with a huge mat getting dragged behind the car whilst he runs on the long mat behind it, that's dope af no effects needed just ingenuity 👍 looks cool running after the car ( it's in behind the scenes edit)
The practical effects of the first three movies were a major aspect in their success sadly missing from the final two movies.
The practical effects were amazing. This is one of the few movies were I watched all the behind the scenes stuff I could find. The Lucian run and the Selene drop were all practical and so legit. It gave the movie more verisimilitude.

I love this universe! Michael Sheen as Lucien is just perfection! Please please PLEASE watch Underworld Rise of the Lycans! It's the next best movie in this universe and it's Lucien's origin story.
My one gripe, if that’s what you can call it, is that Amelia is supposed to be a powerful elder, one of only three, and we didn’t even see her try to fight off the lycans in the ambush. She’s a warrior just like Viktor and Markus, so it was just kinda weird. I get cause she’s not the main character but nonetheless, we only see her for a brief moment and then she gets slaughtered.

I always felt, they must have had someone in Amelia’s entourage that might have put something in their drinks and maybe that’s why they didn’t have a chance to fight back. Or the guys who created the vampires for these movies were more about the lycans being stronger and faster. I wanted to see the vampires be vampires as I know them. They had some cool abilities but I felt like it wasn’t enough. Now the last movie made was what I was expecting the vampires to be like.
That has always been my main problem with the first movie. Amelia going out so easily just didn't make any sense.

Underworld brings back so much nostalgia for me. At a time where tough female protagonist were on the rise, the Underworld and Resident Evil films were released around the same time. Kate Beckinsale and Milla Jovovich were my everything!

This is one of my favorite movie franchises. It takes a lot of what people think of Vampires and Werewolves and just evolves it. The practical effects on the werewolves, while somewhat cheesy, still look pretty good and the choreography is amazing. The action is just *chefs kiss*. I had always been curious about vampire-werewolf hybrids and this franchise fulfilled my curiosity and then some. Hope to see the rest of the movies in future reactions 👍🏻
I was curious about thst as well and it was cool how they did it. Plus the sciencey way they explained stuff added verisimilitude. The Lucian run and the Selene drop at the beginning were legit cool and well done practical effects.

Underworld: Evolution and Rise of the Lycans is going to blow them away. I loved those movies.
The Underworld movies have always been some of my favorite Lycan/Vampire movies.
Beckinsale's as much vamp as vampire, and that she's clad in tight shiny leather doesn't at all hurt her contribution to the cachet of the action drama.

Rise Of The Lycans is the prequel that tells the story that they briefly touched on. Check out Van Helsing as well such a good movie that fits your Kate Beckinsale love.

That was a surprisingly more 'funner' watchalong with you two than I actually expected, so, thank you for that! If ya liked it now, imagine deleting the last twenty years, this was such a treat at the time. For one thing, there weren't a lot of vampire and/or werewolf genre flicks around, Twilight movie was still five years away... AND there had never been a cross-over flick like this ever done(!), at this level anyways, so to try to explain how refreshing and repeat watchable this was at the time, well...!
And yeah, Kate was with Martin Sheen before (and they have a daughter together). Martin is excellent in 2006's The Queen, a surprisingly good watch which I hope you give a try, even if on yer own time.
There was an idea... for Selene and Blade to crossover. However, since Marvel was having a resurgence back then, they said, "No. We want to keep the daywalker and reboot him for our future Cinematic Universe".

WW sued the producers of this film for over a dozen counts of copyright infringement a few weeks before the film was to release, and it was settled privately out of court a few days later. Love Underworld. The Sequel and Prequel are pretty worthwhile too but the first one is really solid. Kate Beckinsale is excellent and the overall World of Darkness vibe and early 2000 vibes in this makes it a classic. I wasn't even sure you really enjoyed it until Roxy actually said she did afterwards. I was so relieved :D
Also, the budget for this movie was $22M. I think the effects hold up quite when you keep that in mind!
If you guys are going to watch the whole series you should definitely watch Rise Of The Lycans. It's an awesome prequel that gives you a look at that moment between Lucien and Sonja. I love all of these movies so much. I was already in love with vampires and werewolf lore, and this made me get obsessed with it even more at that time 😅

Yeah when it comes to vampire/werewolf movies the underworld series is firmly in my top 3. It had an interesting story that wasnt overly complicated good action and good characters. Not to mention its one of the few that gave werewolves some respect when it came to vampires. I also liked how in the end of this movie while it was clear Micheal was stronger and faster viktor was just vastly more experienced and skilled when it came to fighting

This movie is interesting in that Selene is learning all the lore at the same time we are, so the exposition makes sense rather than feeling shoe-horned in for our benefit.
Blade and Selene has some of the best landings when he flips from super high places and she just jumps and walks off like an absolute boss 👏🏾 and my boyfriend literally makes the bloods and crips joke during the train scene 😂😂

Yessss, I was obsessed with the Underworld movies growing up. The modern gritty setting is just perfect (and very early 2000s). Selene's a freakin cool vampire, and is probably the only woman my gay self has ever been attracted to. The second movie really gets into the backstory of the Vampires vs. Lycans, and there's also a Lycan movie that tells the whole Lucian Victor storyline (the flashbacks in this movie). It's a fun series.
It might just be me, but after hearing Roxy love on this movie and like this more than Blade, it kind of feels like this movie has more of a woman's touch. The movie is sexy, but doesn't really exploit women to do it. Their costumes are beautiful (so sad we didn't get to see more Amelia and her dress), and Selene's always covered from head to toe. The guys are more of the eye candy in this movie. The whole story is about forbidden love between Vampires and Lycans. I don't know, just feels like Underworld embraced its femininity along with its masculinity.

Totally agree on all parts! Selene in this is somewhat sexualized in her latex outfit, but for me as a hetero man, I love that she's a badass! But still agree, aside from her outfit, this doesn't objectify her. She's really the main protagonist, and Michael is kind of a McGuffin.
Anyway, I also love the costumes in this series. So on point with setting an atmosphere from locations, but these costumes really help it stand out.
After blade this is one of my favorite vampire franchises I love every single one, and I love you guys are taking this journey. this movie fr gives you early 90’s blade vibes 👏🏾👏🏾 so excited your the second channel I follow that’s watching these for the first time. I know it’s not super clean but I appreciate the practical effects, the music, the story line of who victor really is and how everything actually played out they set these films up perfectly.

Underworld & Blade are Amazingly good movies. To me they aren't competitors, as they are very different stories.
Marcus was revived by the blood of an older change-control lycan. A revived elder vampire gains the memories of the one whose blood revives him/her, which is how the elders "leapfrogged through time". But they also established that he is also a direct "son of Corvinus", so can survive exposure to both bloodlines like Michael.
The first film is great, it's definitely one of my go-to movies on Halloween Season! Kate Beckinsale is smokin hot in this.
Scott Speedman who plays Michael Corvin was in most of the Underworld movies as well as smaller roles in ensemble casts. Outside of that, he starred in several seasons of the TNT show "Animal Kingdom".
Scott Speedman's first big break was being the love interest of Keri Russell in Felicity. That show heavily revolved around the love triangle between him, Keri Russell, and Scott Foley. Underworld came out just as Felicity finished up, and Scott Speedman was still a big star.
The sequels and prequel aren't nearly as good as the first, but still higher quality than most Vampire/Werewolf movies (low bar unfortunately). Kate Beckinsale is a fantastic lead, and the prequel has Michael Sheen and Bill Nighy owning the screen like usual.
Most? he thought the series went in a different direction than he expected so he turned down filming new scenes but agreed for them to use his likeness for the third film and a snippet of the forth. Probably because Michael, a special being who happens to be the only known person to survive bites from both creatures whom we know nothing about, just came down to being Selene's lap dog. I know Kate was the main bread and butter but I would've liked for them to go more into Michael's power etc.
One thing I always thought about Michael is that Michael isnt even as strong as he was supposed to be Lucian is an Elder werewolf Selene isnt an Elder yet
People forget Michael was a Doctor, who had no combat experience, and he was a days old werewolf and a few seconds old as a Hybrid. He had no time to learn his new strength and powers. Where as Viktor is over 800 plus year old Vampire Elder, and the second vampire alive, turned by Marcus Corvinus, the original vampire. And Viktor had centuries of combat experience and knew exactly what he was capable of with his powers. And yet, at least in the beginning of the fight with Viktor, Michael held his own and was winning the fight.
That's what I loved about it tbh. We're shown that Michael has good speed and stability but that only comes with his transformation. He doesn't have any experience with combat and he definitely isn't even a fan of violence given his medical history.

Due to digital not being the greatest, and the production team knowing that, a lot of practical was used and honestly looks the best. Like with the running to catch up to the car scene, they actually had him balance on a long metal and rubber mat that was being pulled behind the car before he broke out into a full sprint.
What I love the most about this movie is how the leader of the Lycans is the same guy who's the blond angel in Good Omens.

While the character name and Selene, and look are based on a Marvel character, the entire series was based the White Wolf TTRPG World Of Darkness(woD). So much so, when White Wolf successfully sued over IP rights, there 17 counts, and 60 separate details. That said, for most WoD fans, we love the movies. Most likely the best and closest thing to a quality WoD movie adaptation.
"Julia Styles" is Sophia Myles, she played one of the most beloved 'one off' characters in the New Era of Doctor Who, an incredible performance.
If you want to see a great performance from Sophia, check out episode "The Girl in the Fireplace" during the David Tenant era. Roxy will appreciate it for it's 'love story'
Scott Speedman was in a show called "Animal Kingdom" based on an Australian film by the same name. It's about a mother that uses her four adrenaline junky sons to perform heists and she takes in her grandson (Finn Cole from Peaky Blinders) and shows him the ropes.

I get so much nostalgia from this movie, it was actually my first R rated movie. I had such a huge crush on Selene back then. Loved vampire films, books, games ever since.(Except Twilight of course) Underworld will always be my favorite.
The amount of practical effects on this movie is ASTOUNDING! Patrick Totapolous (sp?) is absolutely amazing. I cannot fawn over his work enough. 20 years old and it’s still some of the best fighting scenes in werewolf movies ever.

Blade Vs Underworld was a HUGE thing in my personal life and very recently found out that Kate Beckinsale is VERY open to a Crossover Blade and Underworld! Underworld filled in things i was missing from the Blade series, so its hard to say which i like more as well! It's interesting because Selene was like, one of the youngest vampires there, so naturally all of the others, Lucian, Victor etc. had more history and so on, and all about her was to figure herself between what she found out and what she believed in! More of it will be in second movie, which is also amazing as the first one. I love this take on vampires and werewolfs in general. So true to beast like themes, and not sparkly and just boring.
It was cool watching John and Roxy point out both the themes of interracial stuff as well as class (with the Lycans being thralls to their vampire masters) conflict as well as generational conflict that we see in Israel/Palestine or the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, etc, where disputes reach back generations. I think it's why Underworld is better than what some people may think it ranks in the vampire film genre.

Filmed in Czechoslovakia. Based on the Underworld comic book created by Kevin Grevioux, who plays the giant werewolf Raze. The practical effect of Lucian chasing after the speeding car was ingenious. The car was dragging a platform where the stuntman playing Lucian was running on after the car. No matter how fast the car was going, the running stuntman will catch up to the car!
IMO the sequel was as good as the sequels to The Terminator and Alien.
I just noticed it this time. They pulled a ‘George Lucas’ on the version of Underworld you just reacted to. This wasn’t the theatrical version I saw. The flashback of Sonja’s death was originally played by an unknown unnamed actress. This time you can see it’s Rhona Mitra who played Sonja in the Underworld ‘prequel’!

The Danny McBride who wrote this has a small role in the film as a vampire. It was a treat watching you guys react to this, I haven’t seen this movie in years. I remember it came out the year I graduated and we saw in the drive-ins super stoned. It was an awesome experience, I love the use of practical effects. Something very much forgotten in 2003.

I saw Kate on Pearl Harbor before Underworld and found her very cute and beautiful then when i saw the trailer for Underworld with the Red Tape song then i fell in deep love for her plus the special effects of this movie are awesome for the time. I got all 5 movies of the franchise in Bluray plus Blade came in 98 and also have all 3 in Bluray. Michael Sheen is also such a badass in this film. I also recommend you watch John Carpenter's Vampires with James Woods which came out in the same year as Blade.
