The quick tip series consists of short videos on a guitar or amplifier repair or maintenance topic. In this episode, I will remove a dent from a rosewood board using a soldering iron and a wet cloth.

I’m assuming you can’t do this to an edge of a roasted maple neck that is exposed at the edges, but covered in poly everywhere else.

I haven’t tried. I’ve done it on spruce acoustic tops with poly finishes and drop filled the finish cracks with CA glue. In the past I have filled dents in maple with CA glue to level them so they could no longer be felt, and that might be simpler.
