The prices of these "luxury" cars/suvs when new are preposterous. But look at the value of a 2-3 year old model and you can find them anywhere from 15-50% less. Mostly due to technology moving so quickly, but mainly because the type of buyers for these vehicles prefer them new.
That, plus the value of money has gone down so far. But that's another subject of its own.
