Dolly and Jean should be given their own show. The way they 'spark' off each other just cracks me up! But then there's nothing to 'thumb-down' about any of it,it is pure genius!
Thank You, Victoria Wood, for bringing so much humour into my life and for helping me smile and laugh through some tough times in the past through your wonderful writing, acting, directing and musical talent. It was a true privilege to meet you twenty years ago. I have never forgotten your kindness and gentle character. None of us know what lies ahead. I look at the photo of us with fondness. I too have battled cancer three years ago. God bless You and Thank You. .xx.
i always hoped in the back of my heart, that victoria would write just one more series of dinner ladies..now sadly never going to happen...she was a comic genius ,still sad that she has gone... R.I.P Victoria..so loved xx
I adore dinner ladies and no matter how many times I watch them I still find something new to laugh at. Vic, you were and are a genius, we miss you , thank you for the laughter and warmth.
EDIT: R.I.P Victoria Wood My favourite part is the "Tuna 'N' sweetcorn" speech "There’s some quite big things going on in the world: there’s rainforests coming down and polar icecaps melting, and people living in cardboard boxes. You’ve asked for some dinner and we have actually given you some. It might not be a perfect dinner, but then it’s not a perfect universe. And I think you have to, like, take what you’re given, and, like, deal with it. Okay?"
One of my favourite shows ever! Don't think I've gone a month without watching at least one episode after I'd bought it on DVD. One of the funniest thongs ever- 'where's my Clinton?' Victoria woods face XD
The discussion on producing a Millennium baby - 'You have to do it tonight' - 'but you don't conceive straight away, it has to, like, swim up there. You might actually conceive in the queue at Homebase'. Ten minutes later Anita asks Bren "Could you really conceive in the queue at Homebase?" Bren replies "It'd have to be a wide aisle."
Just bought this on dvd (thank you, region-free player!) and even though I've been watching Britcoms for nearly 30 years, I'm finding I really have to CONCENTRATE to follow what everyone is saying!
It must be the accent, as this takes place in the northern part of England, the Midlands or Yorkshire. I watch British shows and don't have a problem at all. Brilliant writing and acting!
I think my favourite bit of Dinnerladies is.... Tony: Twinkle, what's the soup of the day? Twinkle: Minnestroni Tony: Why haven't you wrote it on the board? Twinkle: Can't spell it....
just seen the full monty in sheffield.the guy who played tony in dinnerladies was in the show.should have played gerald in the origional film.brilliant actor what a privalge to see someone live who worked with victoria wood.no wonder she cast him as tony in dinner ladies! nobody else would fit the bill
That and: "Niffy Nora the ora explorer" "Danders up, cones out, leave it" "Give us a tea bag, I'll suck it on the way over" "Well, you managed to organise a pea-soup in a brewery" "I'm looky looky, watchy watchy" "I fell of a diving board in Guernsey" "Shame they didn't drain the flipping pool" "I don't care how many bloodys you fit in, two in the front, two in the back and a frigging on the roof rack" XD
Pure genius sadly missed r.i.p. Victoria thank you for leaving us such a rich tapestry of work to laugh and cry at.
Dolly and Jean should be given their own show. The way they 'spark' off each other just cracks me up! But then there's nothing to 'thumb-down' about any of it,it is pure genius!
