When the song mentions "the Christmas kids" that is mentioning when Phil Spector had adopted at least five children for Ronnie's Christmas present and told Ronnie that she must not love them if she's so eager to leave Phil. In the second half of this song it kind of switches to Ronnie’s perspective, one of the lyrics actually addressing Phil by name and then continuing to say “get me out of here get me out of here”. It shows that he really was self-aware and knew exactly how much trauma he was inflicting on Ronnie. He was a sociopath. I really used to like this song but i don’t know how i can listen to it knowing the story 😭
