I hope you enjoy :)
BeatsbyVanityTV it would be cool if you did a video solely on getting that drum swing people like knxwledge j dilla and flying lotus have i know there all very different but there drums all kindve have the same groove (which dilla solidified first)
BVNDIT Knxledge and FlyLo have a particular style. It's not groove as much as it is just fucked up and off beat. They get that sound by kinda spazzing and just being super impulsive when they're laying down the drum pattern. A key thing is to use 2 snares, and drag one out too early or late
STRAANGE tutorial check the rare beat i found
BeatsbyVanityTV if I buy the sample pack do i have to have Max Live?
Does it sounds like Knxledge? Maybe not. But that's beside the point fam. What is cool, is that BeatsbyVanity actually shares ideas and techniques inspired by Knxledge's work. Why so much hate? This is very well done. The goal is not to imitate other people's sound but to improve your own shit by comparing it to the greatest beatmakers.
i was just about to say that, I'm glad he explained it this way. it leaves alot more room for creativity.
Dude I literally go on youtube everyday waiting for an amazing tutorial from you! The way you deliver your tutorials are just so excellent. I literally love the fact that you want to share your knowledge with the rest of us! Keep up the brilliant work!
Really appreciate that! I always love receiving comments like these, it's great to know that people are benefiting from these tutorials :)
its like BusyWorksBeats but an actually awesome beat and artist i actually like
so basically busyworksbeats, but not shit?
Lol
Ikr... never understood why busyworks videos are so popular, his beats sound so bad !
lmao dog why you gotta kill him like that
that's a nice one but it's way too clean and crispy to sound like knx.
yeah its a really dope beat and great tutorial, but doesn't really sound like Knx
That's fair, only Knxwledge, can truly do Knxwledge. But I hope it provided a little insight into his sound.
BeatsbyVanityTV I think youve done the best imitation ive ever heard bro and yea knx is only gonna sound like knx and i doubt he'll ever explain anything this is the best knx tutorial on RUclips hands down
Thank you :) It's always only going to be an imitation of him, I think that's important to remember.
BeatsbyVanityTV dope shit man, you did your best you definitely gave an insight on his sound
"Great ideas happens when you're not trying to think of them." -Voice of wisdom
Keep up the tutorials, you may not have the biggest following at the moment, but your content is better than almost everything on youtube at the moment. Great moves, proud of you. Can't wait to see music producers flocking here.
Thank you so much! Really appreciate that. Comments like this really mean a lot, providing the highest level of both content and value is what I'm about, so I'm glad that's showing.
Keep grinding! You'll get there.
I've seen hundreds of hours of production tutorial videos by now on subjects ranging from mixing, mastering, synthesis, plugin reviews, and sound-alike series... You're the best of them all, VerySickBeats and Underbelly are close behind but I think you share the greatest wisdom and philosophical insight on creating music.
This vid 3 years old but still informative as fuck, mad props to you for this
I'll be waiting for mndsgn
Mndsgn is on the way! That one will be out next week :)
NICE!
MNDSGN is out! - ruclips.net/video/utHRgAqA5uM/видео.html :)
Simba Andrews definetly doesn't sound like knx these kinda tutorials are gay honestly . You couldn't possible imitate knx many styles and talent . You at best sound like another jock there's million of those in the beat and lofi community . Ovrkast is the best knx jock I've seen as he's no where as good as knx
You are very talented man, and you have an awesome taste in music!!!! Great channel!!! :)
Also, you should do a Sound like TOKIMONSTA video :)
Can you do a Sam Gellaitry/Monte Booker/Flying Lotus tutorial pls? luv u bb xoxo
I've already covered Flying Lotus (one of my older videos) - ruclips.net/video/7pUut8gBvVI/видео.html
BeatsbyVanityTV awesome, missed that one! Thanks
best knx tutorial. love this man
Such a sick beat. Thanks for the great tutorial man, you do a fantastic job at explaining everything.
Thank you dude! Glad it all makes sense :)
Jesus Christ dude. Like, the whole video is great, but just the intro to this vid is extremely inspiring, and you could just leave it at that 😂 I clicked on this cause I searched for "crap cassette". I just wanted to check that out. Got a lot more than I was looking for. So thanks man haha didn't know I needed this haha
i think you should've made the side chain more noticeable, Knx tends to make his kicks cut through the mix like sonic black holes swallowing all the other sound around them
this is the most well made tutorial I've ever seen. great job
I appreciate that :)
Reminds me of a more chilled Pretty Lights, laying off the, wubs and more relaxed on the drums
haven't even got to the tutorial part yet, but what you say about song length, is really speaking to me. thumbs up for that alone.
Glad you got that, I really like the canvas/full of ideas albums, just the raw creativity.
Just echoing everyone else mate who think this is a really fantastic tutorial. You're a super talented dude and your instructing style is really enjoyable and informative. Thanks!
Thank you! Really appreciate the kind words, glad it helped :)
This was lit, but waaaaaay too neat to come close to how spontaneous Knxwledge places his samples together,
Cold though
Can you provide some insight on how you made the drum rack that lets you scroll through samples? Thanks for your time and effort to put out these tutorials!
yes please do
Of course, it's super simple. The basis of it is dragging a Sampler Instrument onto each drum cell. Once you've done that expose to the zone screen (button along the top of the device), drop all your samples in that window. Then click on the 'Slec', with all your samples selected (they will be as default after they're dropped in) right click on that little orange bar and select distribute all range equally. Then you're all done!
As always, another stellar tutorial!
Thank you!
Keep it up these videos are very inspiring!
I appreciate that, I'm glad too :)
dope one vanity ! again great choice for a tutorial
Thank you! Glad you enjoyed :)
Rah this beat is incredible
Thank you!
this is amazing, i love you
This beat is maddd hard
Thanks for the tutorial bro. i just purchased a drum kit to support. im about to study this video
Thank you! I hope the tutorial helps
Hey man, quick question, how did you do the drum rack thing where you had 128 kicks and snares etc.... Thanks!
Nice way to start, Man :)
For sure :)
One question .. I can't install Schwarzonator 2 .. i've put the components in components, but it doesn't show in AU ..if you have time .tnx for replying .. :)
I just drag it straight into Ableton onto a instrument channel. Hope that helps :)
you dragged a component straight into Ableton instrument channel??
High Hawk Yeah haha, why?
this is fucking golden man
I appreciate that!
Nice one mate. You should really also do the A/B comparing devices without pausing the music, for me it helps more to listen better the change that its doing, like when you showed the Tape thing in the master at the end. Thanks cool vid!
Your channel is wicked !
I just read the comments all the at through... y are there so many people complaining? First off this project is amazing! Second, YOUR NOT KNXWELDGE and on that note I love that you show what he does but also the philosophy behind it so others can take that knxweledge (see what I did there?) to their own style. I rewatch this all the time so please keep it up! Could you maybe do a madlib style or a flughand/ bsd.u type style? Love all your vids man
Yo BeatsbyVanity - this is really good stuff. Quick question, if you were someone interested in getting into mixing/production where would you start? Is audacity a sufficient platform to begin with or not worth spending time on? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
knowledge samples his own drum kits
He samples breaks as well im pretty sure
Awesome stuff dude
Thank a lot :)
copped the pack, thanks man!
I tried loading the drum rack and it hasn't worked. I'm guessing its because i'm still using ableton 8
That slight robotic sound on the drums come from the mpc time stretch feature
Please do Ohbliv!! I'm sure it would be a similar flow that Knxwledge might have.
This is fire
great tutorial. What is the track you sampled called?
Super dope beat. Nice tutorial also. I don't wanna be that guy, but the sp1200 is by emu hehe.
Thanks! Haha, I always mix E-Mu up with Roland. Thanks for the correction!
you rock fam !!
You are very KNXWLEDGEABLE
I see what you did there.
Love your stuff! Quick question, how were you able make the SM Exoscope plugin work with Ableton? I put the vst pack inside my plugins folder but every time I rescan in Ableton, the plugin doesn't show up. I even downloaded the component and it didn't work?
Thank you! Are you using a 64 bit version of live?
Yeah
✌🏼
Would love to see madlib next!
You're amazing. Thanks
Thank you!
can you maybe do a 'SOPHIE' tutorial? I'm really loving these vids
Thank you! Perhaps! I'll put them on the list.
Did not sound like Knx to me
Needs way more vocal samples to sound like Knx
Hey man your channel is awesome :) for a strange reason, your sound like videos feature only my favorite artists ^^ which hardware do you use? also would you recommend an ableton push for people who are starting to work with ableton ?
Vision Hope that continues! Yes I would, the Push defiantly helps you navigate your way around Ableton quicker as well as making the creation process a lot more fun and interactive.
Okay thanks man your interaction with your viewer is also pretty nice :D does it make a huge difference if i purchase a push 1 instead of a push 2 ? because push 2 is way more expensive and push 1 costs about the half of the push 2 ^^ is push 2 easier for beginners or is a push 1 okay ? :)
I think I've responded to every comment, not many channels can say that. You guys are what make a channel, so replying goes without saying for me :) Well, I didn't like the Push 1, ended up selling it and getting a Maschine Studio, then I sold that and bought a Push 2 which I'm really happy with. If it's a little out of your price range, either get a second hand one, or buy one on finance. That would be my recommendation, hope it helps :)
oh shiiieeeet u r amazing
i’ve heard that sample before. such a beautiful song lol
do you remeber the artist?
- iMARA dominic frontiere - embassy row
@@mhaluuun93 thank you!
Dopeness!!!
Good to see you again! How you been dude?
why do you have smooth jazz in the background when youre trying to show us how things sound?
great video mate! question, what program is this?
Thanks! Ableton Live :)
Great video!
Thank you!
Would you mind explaining how you made that Drum rack template? Awesome video, again!
Thanks!
fuck man this is soooooo so good
thank you for making this love the beat
Thank you for this
You're welcome!
Any one know of a good similar plugin as the Crap Cassette plugin that can be used in Logic Pro?
Can you do a madlib style?
yo what is the sample that shit was crazy
Thank you! I always feel like giving away a sample is a little like a magician reliving a track, but nevertheless the sample is: Dominic Frontiere - Embassy Row.
BeatsbyVanityTV
i needed to know too, thanks.
Edit: It sounded familiar and it turns out that I've ran into the sample, i just forgot to sample it.
is this Logic or Ableton? wich is more usefull for this type of work?
Thak you
Ableton on both accounts!
What about the tape fx of the Roland sp404sx?
what's that sample?! I've been looking for that sample forever
im also looking for it have you got it?
Dominic Frontiere - Embassy Row
@@thabaninjokwe3439 ive been looking for this over a year, youre a legend
Rewatching this for the 9th time at least
Bria's interlude
Subscribed!
I appreciate that :)
Jinsang -in the style of
what is your ableton 9 version??
what software is this?...Thanks!
Ableton Live 9!
what is the samples you used on this video....?
facts did you ever figure it out
Is there a Crap Cassette alternative for FL Studio?
iZotope make a free vinyl plugin which is the closest alternative - www.izotope.com/en/products/create-and-design/vinyl.html
the link doesnt exist to download the Crap Cassette plugin at the link in the description:(
can you do a 9th Wonder Tutorial?
Can you show how you drag these in and chop and work flow more of how u actually created it
I chopped it on a keyboard, but any MIDI controller would work fine. These earlier tutorials do leave out a lot, I apologise for that.
Will the knxwledge sample pack work on logic?
The Ableton drum rack would not, but the audio samples obviously would. The drum rack device that I made comes free with the pack, because I know many of my watchers do not use Ableton.
Thanks man.
This was great but 30% of what you were talking about was way over my head lol either way great video just got the pack, checking it out.
Haha, I appreciate that!
thats cool and deep but I doubt if knx uses even half of the stuff presented here
Knx made me wand Ableton
Fuckin Fire!!
Thanks!
why ur website down
what knxwledge song is this
What is the sample
dope beat even if it's biting
Anybody knows that sample
project?
Please do a tutorial for Burial
Omg could u do afta 1
damn your beat actually sounded like him shit
If you study someone hard enough and are good enough at your DAW, you can pretty much replicate anyone
Thank you! I try and include all the typical ingredients that the chosen artist will use.
not even close to knxwledge but its a dope beat
sample?
Dominic Frontiere - Embassy Row :)
BeatsbyVanityTV thanks a lot!
ive been looking for it everywhere
You're welcome! A couple of things I use for finding samples are Shazam (can be a little hit or miss) and Who Sampled.
oh my god what sample is this m i stupid AHH what??
Post this beat on soundcloud
Do Toro y Moi
Somebody give me a video to watch about all these producer words I have no idea @BeatsbyVanityTV is saying
.0
too much vst effects, i think it's not necessary
can someone do this on fl pls lol
dont sound like him at all. not that its a bad beat. i hate when people use others peoples names to get views.
this doesn't even sound like his shit lmao
