Nice! Portapack has needed an update like this for a little while. I think this will help boost development on the hackRF and see the popularity rise agin.
That model you linked to is sold out at AE. There are many versions of this Hackrf & Portapack, can you please recommend others for sale or provide exact specs of yours? This is quite thrilling!!
Does the new virtual com port allow connectivity using PuTTY? Great video! While in the topic of the HackRF, I hope you are still going to do a segment on the Operacake. If the the HackRF, PortaPack and Operacake could interfaced into a single, stand alone device… the trio would be formidable to say the least. Thanks for the video
I still need to get my hands on one, but as soon as I do I will cover it. You're right though, all three would be a great solution. Would need a larger case but I guess not a problem as 3D printing is always an option :-) cheers
Anyone here know if the new firmware will work on hackrf_sweep_spectrum_analyzer_windows ? because the old firmware didnt work so each time I wanted to use it I had to change the firmware back to the original hackrf firmware, it did work ok on SDR Console with the portapck firmware. Thanks
I purchased an H2 unit but I’m struggling with learning how to use it. I was able to update it to Mayhem v. 2.0.0 very easily using just the SD card, no need to connect it to a pc. The documentation available online is dated and not very good. Any recommendations for noobs wanting to dive deep? The array of antennas it came with are confusing, I’d like to understand when to use which, as well as the apps. I’m not much of a “hacker” and would have preferred a more intuitive, nicer AIO SDR like the Malahit DSP2 but it’s way out of my price range.
If you have not already search around. Portapacks have different screens and I believe holding the directional buttons, one at a timez and then plugging in will eventually grab the correct screen.
Yeah @@brwetide - thank you, i did follow the "Wont-Boot" info you mention abt the UP and Down button to switch the driver. NO JOY, now has brick my Portapack - reflashed to version 1.91 same issue with White screen. Had to refreshed back to version 2.0 using WebApp for now until new revelation to get my Portapack screen to life.
I do understand that the apps are a value with the portapack, but it's funny that we had the portapack so we could use the hackrf without a pc, and now we have v2 so we can use the portapack WITH our pc :) I do also understand that there are other benefits. It's just funny at a glance.

This is a seriously big update. So much was done here. Very happy to see it.

The new software version looks really good i cannot wait to try that when my HackRF/Portapack arrives
have you noticed improved reception with the metal case vs a plastic one? I would think it would improve the ground plain when using certain antennas.

Already using it! I have some problems with it as its quite memory-heavy.

There is KeyFop in the new v2.0 menu (Transmit>KeyFob). But only Subaru's key data is available. Where can I find data for other brands?

So, basically, Google just took over the Portapak project?
WTF! Browser dependence is no feature.
I guess you didnt watch the video then...
My PC isn't finding the portapack. Any suggestions?
Windows: Install the driver?
I went under Linux (my windows didn't find it, even after installing the driver), went smoothly under linix
@LordNementon fk u windows damn windows 11 what a joke . Well I'm not laughing
@@LordNementon oh yeh what where driver ?
it fails on win11 but no worries there is an option to update manually from within portapack itself
Cheers Marr
Greetings!
I'm curious to know if this can be used as a digital police scanner that can receive P25 phase 1 and/or 2.
Yes you just need to put the robocop file on the SD card and turn it on as you start the nearest cop car 🚔

You need to put it into hackrf mode
@@karter61I know but the analyzer doesn't't work. Other software does work.

It's only funny when you lack the knowledge to actually understand what's going on.
