There are of course so many other factors into what is happening in the industry we could only briefly mention. I don't know why a lot of people are not blaming the shareholders and investors cuz they keep trying to pressure AAA game devs to release it as soon as possible and have to do this 5 to 6 year gap to release the game and not put in actual time to making the game good
It’s honestly an eye opener for some parts of this stuff. Like how much things have changed since those live service games. Obviously there is still blame on the higher up sides and such. But damn. Imagine if those live service games never happened…
Live service games are boring for the most part. Helldivers is the exception cuz it doesn’t feel grindy and can play at your own pace. A good multiplayer pve game is refreshing. The biggest factor is playing with friends vs random’s in my opinion.
I haven't played any of those games. I tried out Palworld and got bored quickly. I don't see the point in playing such games, unless you have a group of people/friends to play together and compete with. I do understand there's a fun factor in playing games with other people, but personally, I prefer singler player experiences or playing locally with someone. Online games are often plagued with annoying voice chats.
Those voice chats were considered high points for older games. Like the Xbox 360 lobbies. I personally think multiplayer can be a ton of fun but it has changed a lot since then. You look at any game from say 20 years ago and now and it’s…. -Tallen
Palworld is a live service game? I thought it was just a survival RPG game with free content updates and DLC, like Pokémon Scarlet and Violet and their DLC.
This was informative and I appreciate you bringing that Twitter/X thread to my attention. But I'm confused on why you began the video insinuating that many players reluctantance to buy the 9th generation Sony and Microsoft consoles is somehow holding back the AAA games industry, specifically the "Western" industry I assume. It just seemed like an unnecessary point. Anyway this was an interesting watch/listen regardless. I think I'll subscribe if there's other good content like this.
Gamepasses get shut down and gamers have no choice but to actually buy the games they want to play. Suddenly you are not losing most of your sales. The issue, a mega super large issue, is that a massive portion of gamers have been using only gamepass and not buying games at all under the assumption that it will 'stay there forever' which imo is dumber than a dodo.

Oh they are easily part of the problem. This proves though that it’s not just them. There is so much over the last 5 years that have changed things.
Oh they easily take some blame. That thread proves it. The thread just also proves it’s not as black and white as many think.

Imagine a world without live service games. It would be beautiful

The grind is always a big part. It’s a players time.

3:40 Hell no, why would I play with trash?
PC and Switch are what I use btw.
As a PC gamer for the last 7 years, yep, GTA 6 is the only reason why I will buy a console.
Nope to all five. Currently on ps5 and Xbox series x

Most of the current games industry is really just a large cassino. That is a big factor in making it so bad.
You’re out of touch and people can buy want they want!
Nope, nope, nope.... PS5
Same!
Where is the music from?
