Liked the line Craig "how insignificant we are" reminds me of my 2nd Pyrenees tour. In my crew of Cornish boys was Larry, he had never been beyond Butlins, Minehead. Ferry to Santander and up the Somport pass in the Pyrenees. he said " I never imagined such a place could exist" bikes hot in summer at altitude, yet the peaks snow capped. He was blown away. 2 years later, 20 years younger than me, he returned for our Dordogne trip after a heart attack and loved it.
The moral of my story boys n girls is, get out there and do it.
Fully agree mate, there’s a big world out there to find and going and doing it in person is far better than dreaming of it. Wish you guys many more happy tours ❤️

If there is a better lakeside ride than this one along the lake Brienz, i've not found it yet. This is only 40mins from where I live and I never get tired of it! Pity you took the bypass road at Meiringen instead of riding thru the village. My reason for doing this ride is for a good lunch stop at a Biker Rest. in Gutttannen where the pass routes start... one way up to Susten and the other up the Grimsel. You were lucky with the weather, it can get nasty very quickly up there.
Oh the weather soon changed! We did Susten on the way back from Furka. Didn’t know about the village, bloody satnavs
@@Motourev yeah, Meiringen is full of Sherlock Holmes history. A Holmes museum and a bronze statue amongst other things. The author lived there and nearby is the place that inspired where Prof. Moriarty was to meet his fate.

Brilliant episode this one, never ridden through scenery like that before anywhere. Bonus my audio started working too, hope that kept up for the rest of the tour! Now looking forward to seeing the footage on the passes 🤗

The steam train at approx 17.00 min is the Brienz Rothorn Bahn, a heritage cog railway taking you up to the top of the Rothorn mountain, well worth a trip for the views alone. The waterfall near the end is the Reichenbach falls famous as the place of the supposed death of Sherlock Holmes. The fast flowing river is the Aare and you passed the east entrance to the Aareschlucht (Aare gorge), an impressive walk through the gorge cut into the hill by the river. There is so much in the area as well as the passes although most bikers ignore these only riding the passes. I stayed 6 nights im Meiringen this year and only rode the bike on 2 days with one of them being the passes, had to miss out the Susten though as it was still closed early June.
