Not sure if anyone stated it on the other video, but he had no formal training. He watched the singers, like on TV and learned lyrics from Karaoke. But for a song he wanted to do, he would watch & study how the artist would breathe, their tones, inflections, accents, all of it to learn how they did it, till he could do it. He doesn't speak the languages he sings, he knows his native Philippine and is learning English a bit. In his 30's he's been singing for a long time.
He discovered at 18 he could switch between his different voices which then helped him win the Philippine Talent Show in 2011. For someone living on the street from 7yrs old to where his journey has come to now is incredible. Just like his talent, amazing range and clear tone... bravo.

What I like about Marcelito is , he does not have any voice lesson at all but he can sing so perfectly. His diction, his breath control most of all can have dual voice. He sang so Relax without straining his voice. I do love him and hoping he win this compilation, Awesome n Amazing. Marcelito is a World Superstar Singer. Because of your honesty and credibility as someone who sings and writes songs, I subscribed. Many people 'react' to make money, but have nothing significant to say and ignorant viewers are baited.

I love the argument of whether or not Marcelito is singing falsetto, because there is a difference between singing in a women’s voice and singing falsetto. The two of my era that come to mind with perfect falsetto are Rick James and Prince, both could switch to falsetto at will during the song, but the only person that comes to mind that could sing women’s voicing was Ray Charles, who frequently sang the women’s parts to backup his own songs, and no one could have possibly known.
I think what puts me off about Marcelito’s falsetto is that he’s slightly missing the notes, and is either a little flat or sharp, which isn’t unusual for falsetto because it’s so difficult to have perfect pitch since it’s so narrow. I think flat, because even just a little flat rubs the ear the wrong way. Better to be a little sharp than flat.
Marcelito was more interesting to me when he did the “Endless Love” challenge, because he was playing with the song, unlike what he has done on AGT where he just sings it straight trying to reproduce the original.

Pls take note, they made the applause and screaming sound of the audience louder when he reached the top note, you can even hear Heidi's voice louder so people who are watching and listening, can't hear the "supposedly" the climax part of the song. For me they deliberately did that so people would think it was just a "predictable" song. What do you guys think?

This is the song that raised uproar between AGT and his fans..Marcelito knew this song will not bring him to the top but since it was chosen for him he didn't have any choice but to do it. Point of fact, Simon picked the song so he wouldn't win. But he did better than he was supposed to... which makes it really weird that everyone "commented" on his "choice".
Simon purposely tried to make sure he didn't win... same with the other contestant, the female. Everyone got upset when Simon stated "if it was his choice..."
Because there was video where Marcelito was commenting (in his native language) that he was worried about this performance because he wasn't allowed to pick his song for this. Simon also has to agree to the song before it's allowed to be done since he's a producer of the show. A lot of negativity and manipulation was exposed by many investigating what happened. I heard it was a reason for trying to remove Simon from the show. Don't know, as I don't watch the show itself, just some of the performances. Peace.

Agreed, The Emotional factor is very important with this type of singing ability/talent. Although, he does a great job with displaying his talent. The difficulty factor in what he displays is unbelievable! Two things: Will the shock factor of this kind of vocal talent become predictable and sometimes it just comes down to preference. The story of Marcelito will tug at a person's heart.

He left his home when he was a young boy. Homeless, taking odd jobs for a number of years. He actually told his complete story on The Ellen Show.

Simon's criticism of Marcelito choosing to sing Beauty and the Beast is hypocritical. Marcelito DID NOT choose to sing it; Simon insisted that Marcelito sing it. Then had the guts to criticize him for it. Marcelito made a video explaining the problem and was very unhappy with Cowell's hypocrisy.
Try to listen to his performance of Phantom of the Opera if U want higher and higher level or simply his cover of “ She’s Gone or check out Reflection, I Believe I Can Fly, I Believe In You, or better yet his new original song but it’s in his native language so braise Urself. He also covers Listen by Beyoncé

This show has proven how fixed and phony it really is. Marcelito had no say on what he could sing. Simon picked the song for him and personally I think he set Marcelito up to fail. And yet, he rose above this crappy song for a final and made it his own. Marcelito was never going to win. They just used him for the views but he has gotten the exposure he needed and I think his career is set. I agree with most of what you said but, sorry, I could listen to Marcelito sing all day. His tone is so soothing. I have seen him live in the US and part of the magic is watching him. You can't take your eyes off him! He is so good that you just can't believe it and you watch for what he's going to do next. He never lets you down.

I don't care for his songs where he imitates a duet, because to be honest they don't sound as good as an actual duet. But his Power of Love cover is pretty amazing.

I think Simon Cowell's opinions are based on future largest possible sales of the particular talent (i.e., record sales, concert audiences. I suspect he, perhaps rightly, feels a sort of one trick pony would not produce as much revenue as he would want to invest in. I feel as you expressed, that I am not drawn in as much by this as I would be by a more integrated performance, as with Dimash's musical choices, which would probably support such a position as I have ascribed to Simon Cowell. I see in the offerings on the side here that there's a video of Marcelito singing Power of Love by Celine Dion which could be a vehicle type closer to marketability. However, according to comments on other reaction videos, Marcelito's background is far removed from Dimash's musical education from an early age. I understand that he never attended any sort of school, lived and slept on the streets, working at whatever jobs he could find simply to feed himself. His 'musical education' seems to have consisted of snatches of listening watching perhaps performances in bars, occasionally caught radio or tv performances and such random exposures, and eventually imitating certain performers such as Dion and Bocelli. Nor does he have composers writing for him, nor the capability currently to write his own material. I understand he is working on catching up on missed schooling. He seems to have escaped the too frequent moral descent of persons surviving in similar situations and to have an admirable character. I hope he does well in life.
