My fav Mech, ever since Mechwarrior II, is the Summoner. Back in that day the stock loadout was an ER PPC (RA), UAC10 (LA) and a Streak SRM6 (RT) which would be an SRM6 w/Artimus in modern terrms. Under gunned but if you knew how to play it right it was a blast.
J-Edgars might be able to survive two gauss hits to the front on table top. I think they have like 110 points of armor total. And the front might actually have like 30points. It's a shame that tanks don't really have different sides in MW5 though.
You keep saying "stock omnipods only". Do you mean stock builds only? Because if it is just stock omnipods, you can change the builds within the stock omnipods. Like remove the machine guns in the Hellbringer for more cooling.

I think his rules are he can mix & match omni-pods, but not change what is in the pod

He is only using standard configs. The swapping of omni pods would be considered customization already
