  • Tour and Explore Regency Cheltenham, Gloucestershire.
Discover the architectural gems of historic Cheltenham during an easy town walk.
From outside the ancient medieval minster church of St Mary’s, the oldest building in the town, to the site where a poorly King George III got his morning glass of medicinal waters. See how Cheltenham developed in the late 18th century to the early 19th century once he gave it his royal seal of approval.
Enjoy the shops, cafes and restaurants along the Promenade, but do keep looking up as you continue to Montpellier (more lovely shops, cafes and restaurants)
Regency architecture encompasses the classical style, so keep a look out for fluted Greek columns, and moulded cornices around the buildings.

I absolutely ADORE Cheltenham!!! We bought a flat there to be close to the Cotswolds, but then I fell in love with the town. It is so lovely, full of things to do, and quite walkable! I love hearing about the pigeons! Clever pigeons ... I guess they became beautiful and free from disease!

I'm not surprised that you adore Cheltenham. It has a very picturesque landscape, attractive classically influence buildings and beautiful parks and gardens as well as lots of events. It is also within easy travelling distance of the Cotswolds, Forest of Dean, Bath, Oxford and Stratford-on-Avon. It couldn't be more convenient.

@@AnneBartlett and it is an easy two hour bus or train journey from Heathrow/London! Something that can’t be said for many lovely little places in the countryside😉

The Ivy is my favourite restaurant! I'm so glad it's in Cheltenham... we love it there. The pump room (and previous bank) make it such an interesting setting and full of fascinating details on the interior!

Yes, it is lovely inside the Ivy restaurant. The domed roof is spectacular. The designers made very clever use of the space, putting a circular bar beneath it.
We are so fortunate that Cheltenham does have a range of lovely restaurants for the food connoisseur.

I have visited Cheltenham on numerous occasions , once to visit the cricket festival and in other occasions as an overnight stop before flying from Birmingham airport .

It's lovely to hear that you have visited Cheltenham. The cricket festival is one of the highlights of the towns social calendar. It is played on the grounds of Cheltenham College which is a perfect setting.
I hope that you enjoyed my video about Regency Cheltenham. I expect that your overnight stop before travelling on to Birmingham airport doesn't give you much chance to explore the town properly. I have produced another video about the northern part of Cheltenham called Explore Pittville. ruclips.net/video/y2y8CROHTB0/видео.html It's an attractive suburb of Cheltenham but was originally built as a rival spa town.

Very pleasant and informative as are all you guides. Wish that they could be longer, These videos stand out from the others on the Cotswolds. Since I can't visit my home town at present it is nice to be reminded of the sights.

Thank you Anne, for making such an informative video about Cheltenham.
I will happily share the link to my own accommodation website www.cheltenhamracingaccommodation , where I offer holiday homes for friends and family groups to stay and enjoy the area.
My properties are based around the other side of Cheltenham, Pittville, which has it's own history connected to Regency tourism.
Perhaps your next video will feature Pittville Pump rooms and Pittville Park!

Hi Elizabeth. I’m so glad you enjoyed the video. Yes, do share the information with your guests. You are right, the Pittville area would make a good video. Perhaps a project for a little later in the month when the sun is shining and the trees and shrubs are in leaf.
