All these people calling this comparison "futile" and "pointless". We get it, they're both great brands and great sounding guitars and it's up to the player's preference. But this is not about which is better necessarily. Some people just wanna hear the fucking difference between the two lol.
+ken masters not all decent guitarist got money man. or they just dont have time for multiple passion projects i love my thunderbird im customizing the shit out of it so when i got my p bass as a grad gift it kinda suffered because i cant upgrade both without the old lady cutting me open lol
ramon eduardo thats right but i mean the stratocaster of single coils sss ;) i have a imitation of a Les Paul i play blues and everything with that but the stratocaster in that case of versaliry is better in my opinion.
Man I just stumbled across your video here and I’m soooooo glad I did!!!! This has to be the BEST COMPARISON video I’ve seen yet!!!! Just AWESOME and your playing is off the hook!!!! New Subscriber!!!! 🎸
Fantastic playing and both brilliant guitars. Tonally different of course and if money were no object then own one of each. What I find sad is how petty some people get and they squabble about A over B a bit like teens abusing each other over whether the PlayStation is better than an XBOX - both have been played by legendary artists over the years in case you hadn't noticed! One thing I'd love to hear is a good comparison between P90s and the BurstBucker Pros as featured in 2016 Studio variants of the Les Paul. I don't subscribe to the anti-Bucker trend, they have their place as do single coils. (PS: XBOX is way better than PlayStation....!)
Awesome playing but I prefer your originals and covers. I have a Gibson Les Paul signature T and a Fender Stratocaster g5 (with the inbuilt Roland effects). Both are great guitars and I love to play both of them. Guitars are like people, they all have their own abilities and personalities. If we are a true musicians as opposed to following what's trendy to play for rock, country, blues, metal, etc, we can make any reasonably good guitar sound brilliant. NeoGeo, you are a fantastic player with skills built up from thousands of hours of dedication. Your videos always surprise me when I am reminded just how good you are, may you continue to make great videos, cheers from Australia.
They are both sounding great.... In the end it depends on your playing style and preferences Most of the guitar players will buy a guitar for the artist who plays it.. And try to imitate the sound of their favorite guitar players Just keep practising. and improving your playing style and skills... I'm sure that you will shine on any guitar brand that you will use.
It's all about the taste actually . I have been playing guitar for 16 years . And i used both guitars but Fender is always the number one for me . Specially the Stratocaster
Hello. Tony Ciccariello here. I have owned and played both. I liked the Les Paul better but let's face it. 6 of these, half dozen of the other in this case. Liked the video and subscribed as well. Thank you
You can't beat the natural sustain of a Gibson Les Paul. It resonates beautifully. One of my favorite comparison videos on RUclips. I'm a Fender owner, and I plan on getting a Gibson in the future when I have more money!
ReaKt0r Gaming Epiphones are wonderful, and definitely offer a lot for the price. But I would honestly rather save up for a Gibson, because their build quality, from what I've experienced, is unparalleled for a mass-produced guitar. From the binding process, to the extraordinary high-gloss finishes. With Epiphones, there are a lot of shortcuts taken during the build process, to save money. That's me personally though, and I know a lot of other people would rather buy an Epiphone and upgrade the pickups, which is a good value as well.
This video just goes to convince me that I made the right choice. I bought a Gibson Les Paul Standard 2008 and a Fender American Standard Stratocaster 2008.....Got to say I'm incredibly happy with my choices. I know that not everybody has the luxury so....if I had to give one up it would be the Fender. Not because of the sound, they're both beautiful, but simply because I adore the Les Paul look and feel. If you can afford both, have them !
That´s some really inspired playing, and a genuinely enjoyable video to watch. I´m currently happy playing a Les Paul, but you actually made me miss my old strat. Looks like I´ll have to make room for one more guitar in the playing room. :) Thanks!
I love them both. And I really REALLY love your your Work man!! You are very creative and inovative. I think your skills on the guitar are just awsomely magnificent. Thank for your great effort!
Oui, j'y crois !!! Tschüss !
I've played mostly Gibson and epi's for around 20 years, but lately I've been getting into fender. a couple of things I think fender has over Gibson are 1.) neck and headstock design. as another vid here explains, a Gibson headstock will inherently cause chronic tuning problems in addition to being structurally weaker. 2.) Fenders can be easily repaired/modified for cheaper than a Gibson as well as having more freedom for mods. Most of the other differences are a matter of style and preference
Both sound great. I own a Stratocaster. Did have a les paul sold it as I found it uncomfortable and bottom heavy. Fantastic playing I'm sure you could make any guitar sound good.
Both Fender AND Gibson fucking rock! I only have Gibson guitars at the moment with a view to buy a Fender Stratocaster some day. The Fender on this video does sound weak and there seems to be heaps of string buzz when playing chords when all pickups are engaged (middle position). Soloing doesn't seem so bad with this configuration though but could be better. You don't have this problem with Gibson however. All-in-all I think the Fender in this video seems to need some work on the action compared to the Gibson but as I said they both rock in my humble opinion.
I own both and love them both.. I think it is really up to the player's preference.. But still, notice how instinctive each guitar is to this guy! When he's on the Les Paul you can really feel and see the harder rock vibe in his picking and notes dynamics while on the Strat he tends to be more classic rock and rockabilly.. No surf going-on on the Les Paul and not as hardcore on the Start. Great demo!
we all know the answer to this Stratocaster and Les Paul both rock after all Gibson Les Paul's and Fender Stratocaster's are the world's most purchased guitars honestly I would take both if I could me and my step brother have something in common we both like guitar and we both play guitar really well but we have our differences of course and we have our likings I'm a Gibson Les Paul fan must step brother is a Fender Stratocaster fan but he also likes Gibson Les Pauls and I like Fender Strats
I feel like as a guitarist looking for wider tonal varieties you’d own both. I have a few Fender Stratocasters and 2 Gibson Les Pauls. They are both great guitars and both will get the job done
Everyone in the comments are right. (for once) It's preference and the type of music you play. I personally own a strat, but would like humbuckers in the future, preferably a 335 for its versatility.
I own a 2008 Black Gibson SG Standard, a 2009 Cherry Red Gibson SG Standard, a 2007 Black Gibson Les Paul Custom shop Custom and a 2014 Fender Stratocaster American Design Experience. In the past when I wasn’t seriously learning how to play the guitar I owned a Red Fender Jazz Master (maybe a 69 or 70) and then later an early 90’s Mexican Fender Stratocaster. For the money I’d say the best choice is the SG Standard. They sound really strong and clear in somewhat the same way as the Les Paul but the SG takes a bit more finger strength to play than with the Les Paul. As for my Fender Stratocaster, it is easy to finger with the left hand if you’re right-handed but I don’t like the close proximity of the volume control to the bridge and pickups. I don’t like the side of my hand resting on the volume control and no matter how hard Fender tries they just can get that wonderful sound that my Gibson screams out. But I’m sure in time I learn to love my Fender as much as I love my Gibson’s. The other thing that I really love is the kindness, the modesty and the generosity of the family of musicians that post here on RUclips. You folks deserve so many wonderful blessings of good health, happiness and many children that you want them. Thanks for all your help in keeping our minds on the right track. I’ve always said; Judaism is my way of life, but music is my religion.
awesome video and play dude!!!, can you make a video '' Gibson Sg VS gibson Les paul'', cause i need to buy a new guitar but i don't know which, KEEP ROCKING :D
the guitar playing itself was great. both sounded awesome.. I like how you sort of played the strengths of each. it's hard to find a song where both sound like they have a place. I'm a fender guy so I'll always be bias toward them, but that LP sounded niceeee
I have both ..I can make my strat sound like a beefy les but can't get the chime of a strat that worm hollow bell like tone from a les Paul. .I love them both for deffernt reasons but if I had to choose one I would say strat for its tonal diversity. ..and thank you great playing brother
it's all about mood in my opinion, when I'm feeling in the mood for say ace Frehley, michael schenker or Angus young I'll choose a les paul, but when I'm feeling Ritchie blackmore or uli jon roth I go for the strat
Well first off great cover man! Myself am more of a les Paul guy. I love there tone and fullness of it. Plus they're like the best at housing alnico humbucker pick ups
Salut Nono, bravo ! Merci d'avance !
In your hands, both. The strato makes the player come out more. I like them all.. Guitarists may have them all. My favorite guitar is the Gibson Les Paul Custom black ;)
I have an Epi Les Paul, which is NOT a copy but a REAL LP, and a USA Fender Strat, and I seriously love both. The quality is great on both, though obviously better on the strat. The difference in natural tone is obvious, and i use them for music that utilizes their natural tone so that the tone i dial in works WITH the natural tone and not AGAINST it. I get great results this way. I will use the strat when a thin, bright tone is needed. I will use the lp when a thick, smooth tone is needed. Lp for metal. Strat for punk rock. Of course i could use them both for anything. Love my babies!!!
Like GARY MOORE once quoted " you're either on the Fender team or you're on the Gibson team".Me personally,it's Gibson. In my home it's the strat that you see guitarist playing all the time.Phil Emmanual(brother of aussie guitar icon Tommy Emmanual) said to me the other day "Gibsons, they can't stay in friggin' tune.I gave all my Gibsons away to my students" he said.I was watching him play that night at a bar,he was actually playing a BLADE strat type guitar.
You know, I really like your Les Paul. It looks really nice but I like guitars that have are vintage or have that vintage look to them better. I recently bought a 1971 Gibson EB3L Bass, and I love the hell out of it. I love the age in the finish. all the little dings and everything showing that it was played like it was meant to be. Gibson's are pretty to look at, but damn, they're meant to be played!
I have to say the Les Paul sounded better in this instance. Selecting the bridge pickup and rolling the tone control back a bit would have made the Strat sound nice. The last minute of the video from 4:06 really shows the best that a SSS Strat has to offer with distortion. IMO of course. Nice playing by the way.
Very nice solos, I like the ideas in the beginning with the LP. My favorite out of these two would be the LP, I just love the fat and warm mahagony kinda sound that Les Pauls and Explorers produce. All my guitar, expect for my first one, are leaning towards that kind of tone.
Excellent test !
In my opinion, almost every guitar made, as long as it's done with design and quality in mind, have a purpose, and each lends themselves to different songs and arrangements. What does favorite mean anyway? every gigging player I know owns at least a half dozen guitars and plays each for different reasons and different songs. With pedal and amp technology what it is today, I can make a Strat sound like an LP and an LP sound like an Ibanez 670. I suppose one could have a favorite feeling guitar, but sound wise, I like all of them.
Les Pauls are less comfortable to play, especially sitting, because of the hard corners on the body. Strats "fit" better to me. As far as sound, I love the chunky LP sound, and it works great for leads and rhythm, but I love the Strat sound even more for that chimey clarity Strats can have. Still though, I prefer my 1981 Westbury Custom S over everything I have played ... with the Dimarzio Dual Sounds and 6 way switch, it can emulate a ton of guitars, and sounds good with all settings, and it has a heavy solid neck thru design that gives chunk of the LP with the contours that fit like a Strat when playing. My .02 (Francs :)
All these people calling this comparison "futile" and "pointless". We get it, they're both great brands and great sounding guitars and it's up to the player's preference. But this is not about which is better necessarily. Some people just wanna hear the fucking difference between the two lol.
Mexer's Music ii,k
lol
This guy shines with both legendary guitars! Fantastic performance!
Like comparing skateboarding to surfing. It's all up to preference
and the gravity :)
Any decent guitarist would own both.... and honestly love both for their own unique qualities. Lets just talk about the awesome playing ! Good job.
+ken masters not all decent guitarist got money man. or they just dont have time for multiple passion projects i love my thunderbird im customizing the shit out of it so when i got my p bass as a grad gift it kinda suffered because i cant upgrade both without the old lady cutting me open lol
Bingo. I used to be a Gibson only guy, then I grew up.
I have a crappy Ibanez s series guutar
why crappy? they are great guitars
Gidson guy with Jacksons. I really don't have a use for a Fender. They are good, but not for me. Are you saying I'm not decent after 35 years?
Fender my favorite in hard rock, blues, ballads and clean
Gibson my good option in hard rock and heavy metal
come on man, fender hss, hhh and hsh are for heavy metal. dave murray, janick gers, Yngwie Malmsteen
ramon eduardo thats right but i mean the stratocaster of single coils sss ;) i have a imitation of a Les Paul i play blues and everything with that but the stratocaster in that case of versaliry is better in my opinion.
R3DXtroyer Agree with you all the way
What a revelation...
You are great, man! Thanks for this jam session!
Both awesome guitars, great playing. Respect.
Wow! They both sound great in your hands!
Man I just stumbled across your video here and I’m soooooo glad I did!!!! This has to be the BEST COMPARISON video I’ve seen yet!!!! Just AWESOME and your playing is off the hook!!!! New Subscriber!!!! 🎸
your improvisation skills amaze me every single video, holy fuck your knowledge of the guitar neck is insane
I don't subscribe to the anti-Bucker trend, they have their place as do single coils.

you just said what I have in mind : some people are stupid as fuck.
Yep, some people just don't get it!
Great playing. I have both and many others. I wish I could play like that.
Well done. I like both & playing as well.

Great demo and great editing. Two great guitars. Two great choices IMHO.
Jesus...why aren't you famous? You are like one of the best players!!
Hello.
Tony Ciccariello here.
I have owned and played both.
I liked the Les Paul better but let's face it.

You fully demonstrated that they both sound Great but different with their own unique characteristics. Awesome playing!

One of my favorite comparison videos on RUclips.
I'm a Fender owner, and I plan on getting a Gibson in the future when I have more money!
ddue get an epiphone its not that far off from the gibson model
You are right, I have epiphone and have played gibson, feels almost the same, just change pickups if you want
ReaKt0r Gaming

I have both BUT I love my Gibson Les Paul 60's Standard to most! GREAT PLAYING GUY - Love your Music - RIP Gary Moore
Absolutely dead on man!!! You’re amazing on that six string!!!
Great vid. I like them both

In the past when I wasn’t seriously learning how to play the guitar I owned a Red Fender Jazz Master (maybe a 69 or 70) and then later an early 90’s Mexican Fender Stratocaster. They sound really strong and clear in somewhat the same way as the Les Paul but the SG takes a bit more finger strength to play than with the Les Paul. BTW, for those who speak all the time about Les Paul sustain, why don't do a sustain using OPEN strings against a Strat? Try it.
Iconic instruments. Wish had both.
Both have different strengths, both are superb
awesome video and play dude!!!, can you make a video '' Gibson Sg VS gibson Les paul'', cause i need to buy a new guitar but i don't know which, KEEP ROCKING :D

"Only a Gibson is good enough"
a slogan like that does nothing but make me hate gibson as a company even more
I love Les Pauls, but this Strat kicked the Les Paul's ass.
Don't care which one, both sound great thanks to your awesome play. Thanks for rockin' five minutes.
beautiful sound of the Les Paul, which model is ?????

Well first off great cover man! Myself am more of a les Paul guy. I love there tone and fullness of it. Plus they're like the best at housing alnico humbucker pick ups
Merci d'avance !
Fender Stratocaster rules! It will always be No. 1 for me ;) Les Paul is 2nd / 3rd :D
In your hands, both. The strato makes the player come out more.
I like them all.. Guitarists may have them all.
My favorite guitar is the Gibson Les Paul Custom black ;)
Neo the winner :)

Hola Amigo. Muy bacana ésta pista. Por casualidad tienes las Tabs. Muchas gracias.
Love my babies!!!
goooooooooooooooood touch dude!
Gibson's are pretty to look at, but damn, they're meant to be played!
the cool thing about guitars is about the diversity, all different but all spicy and tasty, cool playing
Both are different, both are great.
It's good material to build up your concepts
Both Are Great For Different Things And It Depends On Your Preference I Love Both.
That sustaine is awesome
What do you think is better? Gibson les paul 50s tribute or the regular studio?
Exceptional comparison by the way!
Both are great. They are just different.
My .02 (Francs :)
very good
I agree the comparison is pointless, I just want to watch this guy play!
He's really good
